I love everything about the west loop vig. The ambiance, the artwork, the menus! Everything is incredible! Our waitress was great! Very attentive! I had a few glasses of wine and I got the girl dinner! I'm obsessed with the girl dinner! Presented very cute! Dirty martini is great! I loved the Caesar salad, one of the better Caesar's I have had tbh. Fries great too! I will continue to come back!

This is a great spot for happy hour and late night. During happy hour (which runs until 7!!), it's a fun environment with lively music and crowds but without sacrificing on service and quality. We had a couple of glasses of wine and appetizers to share. The gnocchi is a tasty dish - I love that this is on the happy hour menu and still a big portion. The oysters were fresh and tasty. The shrimp wonton tacos are a refreshing bite. The sweet potato fries were a tasty shareable as well. I also got the side ceasar salad, which was good. At the end of our meal, I tried the takeout cocktails which was fun (came in a takeout box) and refreshing. I've been here late night when the whole place is standing and with a dj and great music - such fun vibes!

Came here with two of my girlfriends before heading to a show at City Winery. We've been to the Old Town location plenty of times before but never to this west loop spot. We got starry eyed at the Girl Dinner option which was $25 for shrimp cocktail, caesar salad, parmesan fries and a dirty martini. I unfortunately don't eat shrimp and was in the mood for an espresso martini, so two of us ordered our own version of girl dinner! We got an espresso martini, a side caesar salad, and a side of parmesan fries. We also got oysters since they were a happy hour special. We loved everything that came! One of our friends got the girl dinner and it was presented SO cute- we were a little jealous not going to lie!! Overall we were super happy with the Vig's new location. Will definitely be back for more girl dinner : )

Their spread appetizer. We chose 3 spreads out of about 8-10 possibilities. All were amazing.

Had an enjoyable dinner earlier this week. My daughter, her boyfriend and I decided to share a couple of appetizers and a bottle of wine. I then enjoyed a Caesar salad, while my daughter & bf split a burger. Our first app was the spicy tuna crisp, then followed by the spread appetizer. Everything was delicious! Super cool decor in The Vig. A little dark & moody, and plenty of retro decor.

Had a great time here during their happy hour. I got the rotating frozen which was a pina colada. It was surprisingly strong and I very much appreciated that after a long day. We ordered the gnocchi off the happy hour menu which was quite mid, don't see myself getting that again. The star of the show was the zucchini fries!!! They were never ending!!! And it was a good thing too bc they were scrumptious. They had the perfect crispy texture and were topped with a mountain of cheese. Did I mention they're zucchini??? It's basically like eating a salad. 10/10 would def come here just for these fries yum

On a bit of a whim, our first meal of 2026 was The Vig in the West Loop. A beautiful, large space on the corner of Carpenter and Fulton, The Vig is an upscale casual restaurant with more than something for everyone. You are greeted very warmly upon entering as you marvel at the ambiance - they were very thoughtful about designing the interior of this space, gorgeous. They have an excellent happy hour menu, where we each ordered a $10 old fashioned and a plate of shrimp tacos. As others have mentioned, the old fashioneds are some of the best in the city, great balanced flavor without ever being too strong or too sweet. Extremely impressed. The shrimp tacos were equally good, crunchy tacos with tender shrimp in a delicious mango salsa. For our mains, we haven't had such a difficult time choosing between options in a while. There are so many great items to choose from, you second guess yourself with what you're not ordering haha. In the end, because we wanted to split the zucchini fries (good, but a little greasy), we each had a sandwich. I loved my chicken pesto sandwich, a great balance of flavors and a juicy chicken breast. I will say, the bottom of the bun became overly soggy almost instantly, I ended up just removing it. But the flavors and cook were there. My wife's crab roll sandwich was also very good, holding together nicely in that delicious, buttered split bun. Perhaps the best thing we had all night was the olive oil cake for dessert, wow. So, so good, with homestyle vanilla ice cream on top and sprinkled with a very cool plum powder that brought the whole thing together. There are a ton of great restaurant desserts in this city (hello, Hogsalt), but this is up there. So, for such great food, why only a 4? Well, the service was...not so great. We were completely ignored by who we thought was the served for our section for the first 10 minutes (she was taking care of the table to our right, and the table that was seated after us to out left, and took their order without even touching our table). Luckily, another server caught this and got our drink orders, while yet another server from the other side of the large dining room ultimately became our server. While this final server was lovely (even comping a mistake from the kitchen), she wasn't able to be as attentive as she wanted to be due to the strange table assignment. We truly appreciated her, but the first 20-30 minutes was definitely a bit strange. The other thing is, as others have mentioned, this spot has a bit of an identity crisis. Are we upscale casual or a sports bar? It's not a huge deal as the prices are extremely fair for the quality and area, but the DJ music and vibe seem to conflict with the aesthetic and food. I'm not necessarily complaining because we enjoyed every bite and loved the price point, just interesting to note. The food is worthy of note, but perhaps not a "special" destination for an anniversary or something. In the end, a five star food and value experience with some room for improvement on the service side. Looking forward to coming back to try some of things we didn't on our first visit!

food: the burger was fire, the bun was perfect. fries were decent. the zucchini fries were hard to eat, they are so soon all you're eating is fried crumbs. The cocktail was strong and didn't taste like much outside of alcohol service: our server was very nice and patient with our larger group ambiance: really nice interior, dimmed the lights a bit too low

The VIG West Loop is my all-time favorite late night hang out and bar in Chicago. From the drinks, to the music, and to the other dancers and entertainment, I always have the best time. The bartenders are always nice and have a heavy poor and the whole establishment is always very clean. It's perfect for large or small groups, because the open dance floor is spacious and such a good time. I have never eaten there personally, but always enjoy the cookies at midnight! I've heard great things about the food, especially the brunch, and hope to try it one day soon. If you're ever in Chicago, The VIG should be at the top of your list!

Idk how I haven't been here before, but will be back so much more. The "girl dinner" offering for Happy hour is what caught my eye. What a great deal! It was Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail (2 pieces), fries, and a dirty martini for $25. AMAZING. Loved it all. The service was great and it was beautiful outside but we stayed inside they had the full length windows. Gorgeous

From the moment we walked in, the hospitality at The Vig stood out. The manager (Jay, I believe!) personally greeted us at the door, offered to take a group photo, and along with the hostess, guided us to our table. That thoughtful touch set the tone for the entire night. The decor, ambiance, and overall vibe are beautifully executed. Even though it was later in the evening and the restaurant wasn't very crowded, the atmosphere still felt lively and welcoming. We were seated in a spacious booth that struck the perfect balance between intimate and open. We decided to order several dishes to share, and every single one was a hit--beautifully presented, delicious, and just as appetizing as they looked. Pair that with the great music, and it made for such an enjoyable experience. One fun detail I have to mention: the bathroom is totally "photo-shoot worthy" (yes, I said it ). All in all, a fantastic visit. Huge kudos to Jay for the warm hospitality and attention to detail. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Chicago!

Happy Hour: Sangria, Burger and Fries (I added bacon).
    Alexis H.

The Happy Hour at The Vig is perfect. I got Sangria and the burger and fries. This is definitely one the top 5 burger places in Chicago, maybe even top 3. I don't like toppings and the burger taste great without them. My only negative comment would be that the waitress didn't let me know there was a $5 up-charge for the bacon, which kind of defeats the purpose of me ordering it for happy hour. I was thinking ($2-$3) not a huge difference but something to be mindful of. The ambiance is very chill but they are open late especially on the weekend and have a DJ booth so I can only imagine how lively it gets. The Vig will definitely be seeing me again.

I sat at the bar downstairs and can confirm the place has a classic speakeasy feel -- the the basement of a place behind a locked door, very dark inside with mood lighting/glass cases and leather chairs/couches around small low tables. I took off a star because it's pricey -- I got the "milk punch" on their classic cocktail menu which was $25 and is pretty small, but it's a nice drink and tasted very much like a milk punch drink I got at a speakeasy back home (in Austin, TX). The bartenders were super nice and provided excellent service, no complaints there! The bathrooms were also immaculate. Overall, this is a very nice speakeasy! I've been to many in my day and the ambiance is definitely on par with the best, but I gotta say some other unique ingredients (ideally more floral options!) would really take their menu up a notch! I'll start out by saying that the time in the Aviary was the best cocktail experience we have ever had. Not saying the best cocktails (even though they were very good), but the best experience as far as interesting presentations and overall service combined with good cocktails that when you were drinking them did not feel gimmicky at all, but that everything had a purpose. My wife did the 3 drink progression and ordered The Partridge, The 3 Martini Lunch, and the non-alcoholic version of the Kyoto Plum. I got three cocktails, but because I opted for one on their barrel aged part of the menu, my progression was basically a la carte, not the 3 drink $75 price. We also opted for one small bite of food - The Truffle explosion. My drinks were the Cereal Killer, the In The Rocks, and the Blood and Sand. As far as favorites went Joy's Partridge was basically a Mint Julep with some warming spices, but the presentation was great. Almost every table got that drink so it must be well received. My favorite was the Blood and Sand that was just a really well balanced cocktail. I think that part of the menu does not get the elaborate presentations. We both also enjoyed sharing the 3 martini lunch which was a small version of a Vesper, a Gibson, and a dirty Martini. Two things about this drink, we like our martinis with gin rather than vodka (obviously a Vesper has both), but their rules are that there are no changes to their menus, so both the gibson and the dirty martini were vodka based. The Gibson and the Vesper were our favorites of the three as the dirty martini was too dirty. There was even more olive brine if we wanted it dirtier. Bottom line, top notch experience, great friendly service, and the atmosphere was awesome watching the room being served some of the drinks we had, and ones that we did not order. The Truffle Explosion was also a very good bite, basically a truffle/parmesan infused soup dumpling that exploded in your mouth and helped out with a little food in our belly while having all that alcohol at the same time. The only disappointing cocktail was the Kyoto Plum mocktail, interesting presentation, but tasted just like grape juice - no real character. We made a reservation for their three course cocktail experience for four of us which required a deposit of $75 per person. Only one of us ended up doing the experience (the rest of us were too full and already tipsy from dinner) but it was nonetheless, a very cool experience. Service was top notch. My partner has admired this place for a long time, as a bartender himself, and he has even learned a thing or two from their Bible-like cookbooks. So when the maitre d offered to allow him to step into the kitchen and help finish one of their cocktails, he was absolutely giddy. This was such a memorable and special touch for us during our visit to Chicago. I loved seeing how the kitchen worked together in a traditional kitchen line but only focusing on cocktails. It was an impressive thing to see. Many of the cocktails are presented in an incredibly theatrical way featuring interesting glassware, dry ice, and even a plastic bag filled with flavored air. I actually wasn't a big fan of the cocktail I ordered (it leaned too heavy into the BBQ flavor for my taste) but I enjoyed trying everyone else's cocktails at the table. I would definitely recommend checking out The Aviary if you are a cocktail enthusiast hoping to try something you can't get anywhere else. It truly is a fine dining experience with mixology at the forefront.

Our favorites were the chips and dips, cheeseburger, chicken taco pita, truffle fries, and oysters. The wings were just okay and I did not love the herb aioli. Our bartender server, I believe her name was Delia, sorry if I spelled it wrong, was super nice. She got slammed but still gave great service the whole time. The ambience is gorgeous and the music really set the vibe. Would definitely come back!

Even the area they kept water for easy access was well thought out. I started with a dozen oysters and ended with the wagyu smash burger, as it was a must order. The oysters are $1 during happy hour, which is 4pm - 6pm everyday. The oysters were fresh and the perfect size, not too big or too small. It came with two sauces, lemons, and mini Tabascos. The wagyu smash burger was pretty good and filling. I'm not the biggest fan of burgers but this one is definitely worth trying! My waiter was attentive and chill. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and can't wait to come back!

Tucked upstairs at The Soho House in the West Loop and sitting behind a set of saloon doors, Fox…read moreBar is an absolute unexpected speakeasy vibe for cocktails and a good time! We wandered in after dinner nearby and wanted a chill cocktail, we got the cocktail, not so much the chill...and that was 100% okay with us once we realized what we came upon at the top of that staircase. While small, they have all the goods for classic cocktails and even several house curated drinks. You can basically get dealers choice, which is a rotating house cocktail and it will run you around $13, which is the price that most cocktails came in at. The drink menu is seasonal and changes often, but they still sling all the classics and really anything you can think of. My partner went with a house cocktail, but I was after an espresso martini...and honestly, this doesn't seem like an espresso martini place, but they came through and it was a delightful nightcap for sure! Service was stellar, the bartenders were chill, engaged, friendly and efficient. Overall, solid spot for a cocktail in the West Loop - Definitely worth the trip in and up those stairs!

The staff is friendly and helpful (even got a free glass of champagne to celebrate my friend's birthday). It's an easy spot to walk into and, if you're lucky, plop down on one of the seats until closing. The bar's a little hidden in the SoHo house building, and once you're inside behind the swinging saloon doors you're welcomed by a cosy dive bar setting. If there are three things that made the experience this time around less optimal: the bar seemed to have attracted some rowdy/intrusive drunks (we got harassed a few times), the bar area itself had a puke-y smell going on, and the time it takes to get a drink can be quite long.
