I called PowerPro to service my generator and provided them with the model number and serial…read morenumber.  I was charged $590 for someone to come out and tell me that my generator needed an oil change and spark plugs (which I already knew).  They did not do anything, ... they charged $590 me just for the diagnosis.  They offered to come back to install the spark plugs and do the oil change and tune up for another $500+ dollars. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant and professional.  I just think $1000+ for an oil change and spark plugs is a bit much.

I had rather a unique situation at the NY cottage. The moron, errr seller, had hung a light by just a wire. No box. It was not to code, but the inspector (a total POS who was probably paid off by the seller) pooh-poohed it (Kenny warned me not to name and shame him, alas, so I will merely wish him very bad karma). I was not enchanted by the light, and wanted a chandelier. Bad Plumber (don't ask) was going to hang it for $50. Another guy wanted $150. I figured that Kenny would be in the middle. I was wrong. It was $175. However, he put in a metal box, added a wooden brace, and made the chandelier adjustable. So, money well spent. The light works perfectly, and Kenny also replaced an upside-down broken outlet ($25). He showed me his Master Electrician license. I do agree that he absolutely knows what he's doing. I need more work done. While Kenny is perhaps more expensive than I would like, I know that things will be done correctly. So that's a huge plus.

O'Neill installed a Briggs & Stratton 10 kW standby generator at my home five years ago. Had it…read moreserviced regularly by O'Neill's guy. It quit last month, just five years old. The service man came and looked at it, said it was a problem with the stator and rotor, not worth repairing. Warranty expired. I spoke briefly, once, with Sean O'Neill on the phone about it. He said he could send me a proposal for a new generator -- but he didn't offer to look at the old one, didn't even disconnect it, wouldn't talk about it. Then he didn't respond to my phone calls, and neither did Barbara in the office. So I have this dead generator in my yard still connected to the electrical panel. Now I have to wonder if it was even serviced properly. My advice: Do not buy a home standby generator from O'Neill.
