I have struggled my whole life with peoples' pronunciation of my name so it's something I'm very aware of. This is why I stressed it to our officiant Gary repeatedly both verbally and in writing. Somehow, he still managed to completely butcher my name on my wedding day when announcing my husband and I for the first time. (My name is pronounced like Eileen- he called me Allen, which is a man's name and I am a woman.) It was extremely embarrassing in front of all my family and friends on what is supposed to be the best day of our lives, and even more so now when we just got our wedding video back and it's there loud and clear. I'm not even sure we can get it edited out (or if so, if we will need to pay more). It's one thing to make a human mistake - it's another thing to make a mistake you were EXPLICITLY warned/told about. It's unprofessional and it is really upsetting. It is not one of those things that can go wrong and no one will notice. I'm sure the company will reply to this review with an apology and an excuse, but I would make sure that before accepting that response to my review and booking them, that you're comfortable using a vendor on your wedding day that does not have a spotless record of success. Please ask yourself - are you willing to book someone that not only can't take explicit direction, but also made no effort to preemptively acknowledge his mistake and apologize? And then the company had the nerve to ask for free photo assets from me. If it was not clear, I do not recommend this company or Gary. read more

We are so grateful that we had David Tropea as our wedding officiant. He truly listened to exactly what we wanted for our wedding ceremony - something romantic, sweet, and not overly religious. He spoke with us multiple times before the wedding to get to know us better and he included meaningful/funny things in our ceremony that were personalized just for us. David always made himself available to talk - even late at night since I work long hours as a nurse! Shelly Cole was our officiant, and she sent us emails with a lot of helpful information about the process in addition to meeting with us closer to our wedding date. Shelly patiently listened to our stories and really got to know us. She was extremely personable, and it was clear she really loves what she does. It was an absolute joy meeting her. We hired Scott Cole for our ceremony and he was awesome! He told us right from the start that we were allowed to have as many consultations/meetings as we needed to make sure our ceremony was how we wanted it. I believe we met with him twice. He came up with a draft for the ceremony, we edited it, and he changed it right away. He showed up when he said he was going to. He came and made sure everything was set up properly, did a sound check and then came to find me and ask me if I had any last minute changes before the ceremony began. The ceremony started about 15 minutes late and he seemed to have no problem with that. He definitely worked with us to make sure our ceremony was exactly what we wanted. There were times that I emailed questions and did not receive a response, though it later became clear that Scott was undergoing a personal family emergency at the time. Cheryl Broome, our officiant was absolutely incredible. I wish we could have located her another way to circumvent the horrible scheme that is Short and Sweet Weddings. She is such a beacon of wonderfulness, with a fantastic attitude, lovely personality, and beyond belief friendliness! From the moment we met, I could not imagine another person officiating our special day. After a few weeks to calm down and review the situation, I am still extremely upset at the lack of professionalism, discretion, and communication Shelly has shown. Keep in mind, this is the OWNER. I don't have enough angry words to describe my experience with these people, particularly Shelly. In less than 3 hours, she told us we needed to pay immediately, then that since she hasn't heard from us, we clearly didn't need Cheryl's services, and she would be available for the couple waiting in the wings (now I wonder if there was ever even another couple). Keep in mind this is all weeks before the wedding, and none of this information is denoted anywhere in any of the initial emails she sent. She threatened to take away the one person who we could imagine conducting our ceremony, all via text message. Meanwhile, I'm at work, and don't have the opportunity to look at my phone until hours later, when I have to call her to straighten it out. She not only doesn't know who I am, but she also doesn't understand why I'm calling. I practically had to force her to take my payment information. And then, after I was certain everything was wrapped up, I receive another informal text message, to say that everything is not finalized, even though she has my payment information. "Whichever party is first to submit both booking form & payment will secure officiant services from Short and Sweet Weddings." Take a moment and let that sink in. This "owner" pitted two couples against each other in order to secure a reservation. I had to spend more time on the phone with her in order to sort this out and ensure that she wouldn't try to rip this away from us again. And then, to top it off, they somehow managed to tie some of my personal information with their own payment processing account. I am beyond disgusted with this company, and horrified that she thought for a moment this was acceptable. I have received absolutely zero communication regarding this extremely unpleasant experience, despite that fact that she is aware we were very dissatisfied. Stay away - or find a way to contact Cheryl directly. She was positively lovely! read more

Everything about this service was perfect! Shelly Cole was our officiant, and made us feel comfortable through the whole process. The ceremony she wrote was absolutely beautiful. So many guests commented on how great she was, and asked how long she has known us. They were shocked to find out we found her online. The fees were very reasonable, and their online payment system was easy to use and convenient. We had our wedding picked and a place set to have it done, but at last moment the chosen officiant flaked out on us leaving us with no officiant an only a couple of hours to get from Austin to San Antonio to check into our honeymoon rental. we thought we were up a creek and going to have to delay the wedding for another day which stunk because we picked a day that was important to us for our wedding. while we were ordering dinner for the small wedding party at a restaurant, the maid of honor was busy scrubbing thru google trying to save the day. she found Short and Sweet weddings. I called and made plans, we got the waitress to pack all our food to go and we hopped in the car and zoomed to round rock. Shelly kept in touch by text and met us at the office when we got there (earlier than the scheduled time) and even tho we paid for just a legal signing due to our rush to make it to San Antonio. she put just enough ceremony to it to make it really special. The maid of honor stopped and got us a 2lb round rock donut as a cake, and while not traditional we loved it.
