I have never left a 1 star review before ‍ Yet I feel that this kind of business relationship is no more So here it goes! I called their St Petersburg office with an inquiry about moving my warehouse from one unit into another unit in the same building: essentially, moving from place A to place B (40' away), with no traditional blanket/wrap/load truck/unload truck/unpack moving: rather just men power and contents moved with furniture and flat bed dollies. I tried to paint a clear picture of the possible job to the gentleman who picked up the phone, and asked how would they charge for the job. He said that regardless of the job type, there is a trip - aka truck charge - equivalent to 1 2-men hour labor charge, and that although I don't need a truck for the move, he has no way to bring them to the job but with the truck. I tried to say that the distance between their office and the warehouse is 1.3mi but was left with just that - a mumble. Than he said that they will charge me depending on the time it takes to pack my apartment and move it ‍ And so I said " Excuse me, did you hear what I just explained about the move? " to which he yelled - as in real time yelling in the phone's mic " I don't care, I don't want your business", and he hung up me I was obviously speechless and dumbfounded lol to say the least, and tried to get a grip on why did I get yelled at for trying to pay for this guy's business. EQ is supposed to get higher with age, supposedly lol So I got over my shock and called the company number again: may be I'll get to talk to someone else? Nope, the same pleasant British accent, like he didn't just belt out And as I started talking, he started yelling in the phone again: how he's been in business for 30 years, and he doesn't want my business lol I tried to voice over him with " You can't yell at your customers" but I think it went in the void. Unreal!! Though definitely it's not I where I will spend my money, and for sure will be telling this story for a long time, the humanity in me still can't get over the fact that this gentleman made it for that long with this attitude. Called Short Moves to have a large furniture piece picked-up and delivered to our storage unit. Wow, fast service and excellent communication. Could not have been more pleased. Without a doubt, we'll use them again. Our piece is a very heavy and large antique secretary cabinet. Movers, Scott & Santiago were fantastic. Took great care of the piece. Highly recommend. My mom kinda just sat there, but sis was a little testy (continually shutting doors after them for instance) but the guys took it in stride. Wow! all 5 star reviews. not my experience at all! worst move I've ever experienced. I'd leave a 0 review but they make you enter 1 at least. quoted 6 hours. took 9. sent 2 older guys one got sick and would not send another person to replace him. only reason it didn't take 12 hours was my son in law showed up with 2 friends and they unloaded their truck. $210 an hour for one guy barely worked and my guys unloaded truck and that short move guy told my wife to help unbox items if we wanted it to go quicker. I had 2 bedrooms and a couch with 2 tvs and small misc items. absolute RIP OFF of a company should be embarrassed at their level of service. I'm warning you - DONT USE this company!!! read more

I recently had to use this company to move all my belongings out of my condo after hurricane Helene . They were extremely efficient, and did the move very quickly. I had no air conditioning service and they never stopped working. My neighbor used another company and it took almost twice as long as all they did was stand around. We lost our house due to flooding from Helene. All that was left of our furniture was in a pod on our driveway. Another hurricane was arriving, and we had to get what was left out of the pod into storage and into our apartment that we just moved into. I called on Saturday to see if they could move my furniture on Sunday, he indicated they were not open, but after hearing my story, they agreed to move our furniture. I cannot tell you how efficient, organize, careful, and conscientious, they were of all of our belongings. They did not stop moving until the job was done. Nothing was damaged. On top of that, they treated us almost like family. They were so kind and considerate. We were absolutely blessed by their help. I have used them in the past for two other moves and was grateful that they were available to help us in this horrible situation. I will never use anyone else for our moving needs again. read more

My husband and I found ourselves in the unenviable position of being alone to move a 3 bedroom house. We are on the older side and he is not well. I had just have recently had a surgery. I discovered Short Moves who were one of the most courteous and professional businesses to deal with. The 2 young men they sent were Matt F and John B. They emptied and packed a big China cabinet, took apart furniture wrapped and packed with precision. I can't say enough about how professional and helpful this moving company is. We needed them to pick up items at one address then go to a second address to clean out a storage unit and pack everything in a "POD". They came on time, because of elevator issues, we kept them longer then contracted for. This did not cause an issue, they continued to work on our move. This company handled a move of seven pieces of furniture from Sarasota to Pinellas County. The furniture was located on the third floor of a condo that had restrictions to abide by. The scheduling was set up by phone - they managed to fit us in at a busy time with relatively short notice, and also around the condo's time restrictions. The two movers from short moves handled the condo's instructions for movers perfectly. They were very professional and took care with the furniture, walls and doorways both in the condo and when they got to our home. The movers got to our home before we did (thanks to a wrong turn on our part) and started to unload the furniture while they waited for us to arrive. These guys are amazing! We are renovating a home and booked a Christmastime move with Short Moves very FAR in advance. Our contractors were running behind so despite a holiday schedule, Short Moves offered a later date. The move came off without a hitch. Their service is thoughtful. / they never keep you in the dark. They called to reconfirm a few days ahead, they called the morning of to confirm the exact arrival time, they talk you though their process. Their 4 man crew was efficient, VERY capable and congenial. All of our fragile contents were handled with care. They persevered through the disassembly & re-assembly of a tricky piece of furniture AND their billed time came in VERY close to their estimate. We totally recommend them.
