Took my mom out for her first Shortys visit in 15 years after he having bad experiences. I didn't let her know where we were eating ahead of time and we just strolled in on Cinco de Mayo around 1pm and found bar seats. There was live music being played that covered 90s hits. Jimador tequila was giving out free samples of tequila. The nachos i ordered were massive and delicious. I wasnt offered chips and salsa though for some reason and that salsa wouldve been nice to have. My mom LOVED the Jerry Garcia and said it was just as good cold the next day. The Hot Mess burrito was massive for $17.99. I enjoyed it thoroughly but next time I will get the East L.A. Burrito. Our guy bartender was busy and the other female bartender couldn't be bothered to refill our sodas but overall it was a great experience and my mom cant wait to return to try different menu items. read more

My family and I had dinner here, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. We were looking forward to a great Mexican meal, but the food did not meet our expectations. Several dishes lacked flavor, and the overall quality was not what we expected. The service was just as disappointing. It was slow, inattentive, and we didn't feel like our table was a priority. Good customer service can make up for a lot, but sadly that wasn't the case during our visit. We understand that every restaurant can have an off night, but based on our experience, both the food and the service need significant improvement. After a long day of skiing nothing beats a hot meal, especially some Mexican. Came in with 10 people no reservation only took about 20 minutes to have us sat not bad! The waitress super kind, menu and drink knowledge was great. The food was great, crowd favorite was the hot mess, the birria and the taquitos! Probably one of the best birria I've ever had and the portion size was great! The drinks were not the best, even after mixing in some lime was just not it. This is one of our favorite Mexican places. We've always had a good meal and service, tonight was no exception. We love that it's very family friendly and the kids love the free chips at the beginning. Since it's a Mexican restaurant, their types of margaritas is extensive. My favorite is the frozen strawberry but I've had others and they are all excellent. Everything on their menu is good, but the CBR (chicken bacon ranch) tacos are a crowd pleaser. The refried beans and Mexican rice are pretty standard but good. The kids meals come with applesauce and a cookie. There are a lot of Mexican places in Manchester and everyone has a different favorite but this is mine! read more

Been coming here off & on for over a decade. The food is consistently good with a great menu selection. I had the fajita salad, unfortunately the steak was boring and flavorless. It's an easy fix with hot sauce and salsa! The portion size was very good. Nice to see they still offer free chips and salsa (some places have stopped doing this). The bartender (middle-aged aged brunette woman) was a complete sweetheart. Prices are not bad and it's the typical 90s mexican decor. I'll be back! read more

This spot rivals ANY other! I used to have lunch (always the Atomic Chicken Tenders) here when I was on a break in between classes, a million years ago when Notre Dame College still existed! The bar is a great spot for food, adult beverages and great convo with the cool bartenders! Now it's my go to spot for my fav, the Southern Fried Chicken Salad. We didn't have a good experience at Shorty's today. When in the area this is a must stop. First, long wait and stale chips. Waitress was extremely inattentive and towards the end (after we waited for the check, then gave up) she was a bit aggressive. Manager said she "doesn't give a S**t after working there 21 years. I usually get takeout every once and a while from here and it is delicious!! I went and ate there a few nights ago and it was just as delicious! I got one of the specials, the Munch Wrap. It was so good, and they gave me a lot as well! My family loves the Espinaca Con Queso here, and the chips and salsa are amazing! The service has always been great here, and I love the decorations inside the restaurant as well! Overall, Shorty's is a great place to eat at or get takeout from! Shorty's of Manchester is still a favorite place to meet up with my friends for dinner and drinks. One of my friends lives only 5 minutes from here. I needed to post a brief update since I posted my initial review, as I've dined at this Shorty's location numerous times. The complementary chips and salsa is good and the salsa cup here is normal size and not a tiny cup like they used five years ago. Also, they have free wifi access, which is great for those with laptops and smartphones (with limited data plans). My favorite dish on the menu is the Tijuana Dance Hall ($11.99) which is a large baked burrito stuffed with BBQ pulled pork, espinaca, black bean corn salsa & cilantro-lime rice, topped with Whiskey BBQ sauce & pepper jack cheese. This burrito is tasty and very filling. Also in the past, Shorty's has run an awesome summertime promotion Dinner for 2 for only $20, which included an appetizer, 2 entrees, and dessert, plus complementary chips & salsa which was a whole lot of food for the price. I hope they bring this promotion back (It's back for the summer of 2012!!!), as a few national chain restaurants in the area have a similar deal. The service here has been pretty good on most of our visits, though the chips & salsa can initially take a while to come out. Been here a handful of times as it is a central location to meet for my friend group. Never once had a dish that didn't taste like it was prepped a week ago. Last night i was dropped off by my boss waiting to get picked up by my friend (half way Point between work and home) fended up getting a couple apps. I was hungrier than I thought so I forced down a empanada but couldn't bring myself to eat another or finish a chingalinga.. would have been better off eating out of the dollar store freezer. HORRIBLE TAKE OUT procedures. For the SECOND time in two months two take out salads had no chicken added to them, and I did not find out until miles away at home. First time, I called spoke to a very nice manager who apologized, made no excuses, took responsibility and refunded my money and gave me two $10.00 gift certificates (not necessary but she insisted). Gave them another try last night. Same result. Spoke to a different manager (Maureen) who was very dismissive. Told me the chicken was added at another station (as though that makes any difference) and they must have missed it. Then had the audacity to arrogantly tell me I should have checked my order before leaving. Did refund my purchased price. Once is a mistake, stuff happens. Twice in two visits for the same order is a pattern, a pattern of neglect, not caring and arrogance. They have some significant management issues here. They apparently don't care, so why should we. I understand the restaurant closing @ 10, we walked in at 9:30 and the looks on the faces of the staff could kill. My colleague and I stopped here while traveling to NH for a conference. We both craved Mexican food, and she's gluten free, so it was a good choice. We were NOT disappointed. The atmosphere is funky and cool and we loved it. We were seated quickly (though we did call ahead). The chips and salsa were excellent, the house margaritas delicious and the waitress, Holly, was knowledgeable and friendly. She gave us excellent recommendations. My colleague had fish tacos and cilantro rice, both of which she enjoyed. I had the Hawaii Five-O quesadilla and it was so flavorful and delicious and massive. We shared the house guac which was also amazing. A live musician was playing, which happens every Thursday. He was excellent. I wanted enchiladas, but they were out of those. Not sure how that happens in a Mexican restaurant, but it did. Cilantro lime rice was ordered as a side for one of the meals. They were out of that as well and substituted without asking what we wanted it substituted with. The portions are large, but the food is flavorless. Service was lacking as well. read more

Terrible experience. We walked in around 1 pm and no hostess was present to seat us with a fairly empty restaurant as only 2 tables out of the 30+ were taken. We decided to take a table and we're scolded by some sort of manager who was on the phone, but our server told us don't sit yourselves that's disrespectful to the staff. I'm sorry you don't have the ability to be present when you only have 2 customers and at least 6 people on staff. While the food and drinks were good I would much rather go somewhere I feel valued as a customer and not degraded. Pretty sad customer service no wonder the place was empty I would avoid at all costs. La Carreta down the road is a far better option. read more

We've been customers at Shorty's Manchester since the beginning. There have been ups and downs- now it's downs! Food is often not hot, special requests, for example- "hot"and "extra cheese" are often not honored. Waiters and waitresses try hard but kitchen doesn't come through consistently. Prices not low and after a while we get tired of having to return items. We don't plan on going back soon. We hope Shorty's solves these issues. Staff is usually friendly and helpful.
