I was shocked by his results as I never saw in my life such unprofessional work. I showed him pictures of her hair one week later and he replied he did the best that he can and that I should go somewhere else if I am not happy. I asked him to fix it and redo it and he refused - mocked me and laughed and said no. He is extremely dismissive and argumentative. He crossed the line and was really unprofessional. He recently moved from a different salon to this salon because he was argumentative there too and the owner kicked him out. I now have to find someone to fix the mess he created on my daughter's hair because he refused to take care of it. Terrible service. I wouldn't go to him for free! Avoid at all costs. They have OPI and Essie brand polish for the most part, color choice is good and never had an issue of polish being watered down. There is no attempt at up-selling you here, which I appreciate. The ladies here are quiet and polite and the place is well staffed so you can walk in whenever. UV gel is only $20, they have OPI and Gelish. They can be hit or miss with removal of the UV gel though, and if you maintain it for months at a time and don't keep nails short, they are apt to get filed down too thin and break. But the price point is a lot less then $60+ calgel specialists in the city so gotta take that into consideration. That said, with the cheaper places, you gotta be careful about cleanliness and I have seen some scungy nail salons in my day. I am happy to report that this place is pretty on top of hygiene. They use their autoclave to sterilize the tools (yes, you see them take the tools out of the oven), single -use pumice for pedicures, and everything is clean in general and no tears in the chairs. Clientele is your standard Bay Ridge gals. Wear your Uggs and bring your LV bag!

I do want to point out it's going to be a long wait, so I would highly recommend to see Auther in the morning if you cannot wait. He's usually packed on Fridays and Saturdays. So, if you have time to see him any day between Tuesday and Thursday, I don't think you would need to wait long. He does a number system, so you would need to pull a number and wait for your numbers turn. He charges $15 for a haircut which includes a shave to those clean lines after he has finished cutting. I would highly recommend to go to Aruther for a cut if you have time.

Unfortunately, my expectations would backfire because of the subpar customer service. Upon arrival, I greeted the employees in English and was situated in one of the styling chairs. I was the only customer there along with a male and female employee. I was then asked by the female employee if I wanted to wash my hair to which I said no because I had already washed it at home. Since I came in speaking English and a little bit of Mandarin, both assumed I couldn't speak or understand an ounce of Cantonese when in fact I could. The female employee spoke decent English and served as a translator between me and the male employee who ended up cutting my hair. They then proceeded to blow dry my hair and this was when they started making some rude remarks about my hair in Cantonese. The main comment that was repeatedly said by them was how oily my hair was. I'm sorry I just happen to have a more oily scalp due to hormones and genetics? I have visited other hair salons before where I would wash my hair beforehand but have never experienced hairstylists commenting rudely right in front of my face. My hair was straightened afterward to which the male employee continued to make disparaging comments about my hair, such as "her oily hair is ruining the straightener" and "she wouldn't be able to do many hairstyles on her oily hair." Aside from the unpleasant comments, he was also a little aggressive when brushing my hair. There were a few instances when my head would bump against the hairbrush. I was charged a total of $28 which I thought was a bit expensive for a simple haircut because my hair wasn't that long to begin with. Overall, even though I was satisfied with my haircut, I will not be visiting this salon again.
