I told her my goal was to find a home that I could live in for 2 years then if there were reasons for me to leave that specific area I would talk to her about listing it for sale. I have sold four home fsbo prior to meeting Shari Thokey. She welcomed me to go ahead and try to sale the home by owner if that is what would be best for me. The last time I tried to sale a home by owner I met people who seemed to want to take advantage of me even though they said good things about the upgrades made to the house they were not qualified to buy the home without causing me problems that I did not welcome. Shari made a commitment to help me sell my home for the first time (in OHIO) allowing a realtor to assist me in the sale. Less than one week after the home was listed on the MLS for sale Shari had a buyer. A buyer's agent was involved. Shari helped me through the entire process. She didn't just list it and forget it. She constantly answered my questions and eased my concerns. She had no problem listing the home the way I requested that it be sold. Thank the Lord for realtors like Shari who do their job sincerely helping her customers whether they are buying or selling. Additional note: I had been trying to sell my home fsbo and the price was too low to match the present market value. I listed the home on MLS with Shari as my selling agent. I requested that the price be lowered about 4.9k to help get it sold quickly to meet my needs at the time. Shari's knowledge about what the home could and most likely would sell for was correct.

We were three days late notifying of out intent to vacate the unit the month before our lease ended. Management said they renewed our lease for an entire year and we would be responsible for rent and utilities for the remainder of the new lease until the unit was re-rented. I pleaded and begged for them to have mercy and was told that the best they could do was accept a single payment of $6,443 by the end of that month. We had already signed a new lease out of town for a new job and I could not pay the $6,443 in such a short amount of time. Se we were forced to continue paying rent and utilities at the unit that we were no longer living in. I continued to pay rent and utilities on the unit until I was sent a cleaning bill and statement saying that they had taken our entire security deposit as a "re-rental" fee. Around this time the "For Rent" sign was removed from our lawn and the listing was removed from the website, even before the unit had been re-rented. The cleaning fees were outrageous and included ridiculous charges such as $50 for a smudge on a kitchen cabinet and another $50 for cleaning flecks of dust from a window blind. They claimed I installed incorrect drip pans on the stove top. I sent an email with pictures showing the newly installed drip pans lying perfectly flat. I received no response. They did not return the brand new supposedly "incorrect" drip pans to me. Paying rent and utilities for two apartments with a single income proved difficult and when I was late with a payment I was sent a notice stating that they had reported me to the credit bureaus and threatened to sue if full payment was not received within 10 days. My story is hardly unique. I have read many similar reviews from other renters at other First Troy properties. Management actively has these reviews wiped and you can't even leave a review on their Facebook anymore. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

First Troy is by far the worst we have ever experienced. When we were looking at the unit we asked about sound between the townhouses. We were assured that the walls were fire walls and sound wouldn't be a problem. Not true at all. We could hear the renters next door talk/ laugh/tv. They weren't loud just normal everyday noise. They did absolutely no maintenance on the outside the entire time. In fact the renter is responsible for cleaning the outside windows and pressure washing the patio/driveway. Lawn mowing is charged in addition to monthly rent. When you leave you have to have the carpets professionally cleaned and produce the receipt. Be prepared to basically get the apartment ready for the next renter. They don't have it cleaned professionally. We cleaned our apartment thoroughly. We were charged for one window which we forgot to clean and the laundry even though I scrubbed it on my hands and knees. When you rent from them be prepared to pay an additional charge for everything. And expect nothing from them. All they are interested in is sitting back and collecting their money. We could go on and on but we hope you get the point....Just don't. Find someone else to rent from.

The flashing around my chimney was leaking and they tore off the old flashing and installed new flashing. Again, they did the repair quickly and charged me within the quote. I also asked them to quote on an attached shed to my new place. Unfortunately their quote was way too high and I selected another firm. The report issued for my home was "less than" to say the least. Over the last 10 months since…read moremoving in, the lack of thoroughness and completeness of my home inspection from Ernst Home Inspections, LLC has cost my family more than $45,000. The roof needed to be replaced immediately and was actively leaking. My report said the roof 'should be good' for another 5 to 8 years. The basement leaks from simple ground water, and has foundation cracks throughout. Additionally, there are so many building and safety code violations we've needed to correct simply for the health and safety of our family. Some of these code violations include: plumbing from the basement is incorrect, there is no egress/escape system at all in the "finished basement", entire house electric is basically just wrong and there are at least 20 power outlets on a single circuit. The breaker trips after plugging almost anything into more than 4 outlets at a time; not to mention a refrigerator is meant to have its own circuit but instead is looped in with at least 6 power outlets. Furthermore, the inspection report itself is vague and has caused more headache, such as the fact that there is are two exhaust fans into the attic, but only one was fixed because the report does not specify which exhaust fan needed to be corrected. These issues do not cover all the issues my family has encountered and had to deal with over the last 10 months. Lastly, when I attempted to contact this company about what we've been through, little to no response was received and we were then stuck fighting for all this on our own. Be cautious when considering using Ernst Home Inspections, LLC for your requirements.
