We were in the area headed to the LA ZOO and wanted to check out this store. Loved it! Small but mighty with lots of merch for everyone. Baby books, stationary, decorations you name it. I went right at open and the cashier was friendly. Left with a children's book and a sticker for $16. There was a couple stores on the same block that weren't open but next time! Parking can be tricky but if you get lucky stop by!

Located on Echo Park Avenue, among a little cluster of shops and cafés, Shout and About is a cute little gift shop with an emphasis on young children. In this tiny shop there are the typical things you'd expect in a Los Angeles area gift store: funny cards, scented candles, stationary, bags, stuffed animals and the like. However, I will say that they had some interesting items that I don't see nearly as often. For example, they had taper candles in multiple sizes and colors. As I said, this places definitely has en emphasis on kids. There are baby clothes, stickers, toys and the like. The prices are about typical of such stores: not cheap, but not outrageous either. The clerk on duty was pleasant and helpful. A sweet place to stop by, especially for gifts for young children.

I love to feel the familiarity of the merchandise when I step inside. Lots of fun imports, cute toys, clothes, jewelry, home decor, games, accessories. Reasonable priced, fun to browse, great for your Chinatown visits. I enjoy buying gifts here and a something interesting for myself. If you like hunting for cheap treasures this is the place to go with random things like magnet toys, hell money, fake gag poops, incense, and plastic swords. Located in Central Plaza, its the area of Chinatown that used to be for tourists. Central Plaza was a romanticized take on China with colorful "chinese" buildings and string-lights and lanterns for night. It's survived so long a shame so much has fallen into disarray, I especially miss the wishing fountain. Luckily Import Bazaar is still running strong. The store itself is small with tight aisles packed from floor to ceiling with lots of different stuff. They try to cluster like-items together so it helps a bit. I personally love the chaos and the store frozen-in-time. My kid was so bombarded with the crazy variety of items here he had a hard time choosing what he wanted. The sweet lady working that day gave him a little toy car for free. They have a hilarious variety of fake cigarettes and cigars for you bad kids :)

Tucked in the Central Plaza, which was opened and dedicated the same year Sincere opened, you can find it across from the fountain where people throw their pocket change, aiming for the receptacles labeled "Wealth," "Health," and "Luck." Tourists love Sincere for the shopping, perusing their stock of fans, lanterns, figurines, porcelain, hats, and other knickknacks after they bang on the gongs at the front entrance for "Good Luck" and "Money" and rub the giant Buddha statue's well-worn belly that greeted them as they entered. I dig Sincere for the things hanging above the shelving -- ceremonial dragon and lion heads, giant Peking opera masks, and massive lanterns -- and the nice people who own the place. It's one of the few shops left that embodies the old spirit of Chinatown.
