Understand that there are two businesses operating out of this location: Mahlander's, the high end…read morelighting store for the well-to-do of Sioux Falls; and Bob's Repair, a mysterious shadow business that is entirely decoupled from the ladies that do lighting. If you think you're going to Mahlander's for repairs, you're not. You're going to Bob's. Your item is placed in the back where it awaits Bob, who may or may not exist. Any status will not be communicated to anyone existing outside of Bob's mind, so any inquiries are answered with "I don't know, ask Bob. He's not here. Call back later." After your item sits for more than a month, you can go retrieve it, covered in dust and dented and scratched. And then the lighting ladies will clutch their pearls and act astonished that this whole scenario may, in fact, have UPSET you, the potential customer. But that's your mistake. Bob's has no customers, only suffering fools.

Gosh I hate to leave a bad review for a small, local business, but my last two visits have made me…read morefeel like a bad person and a bad mom which is ridiculous. The first time I was appliance shopping here a few days ago, the salesman was extremely abrupt and angry when I politely mentioned their competitor's price. If you can't meet that price, just politely tell me why. Now today a completely different salesman helped me. This time I had my toddler with. He was being a normal 2 year old and wanted to explore the store. Rather than the salesman just walking with us and continuing to answer my questions, he just stayed put over by the appliance we were discussing, and his nonverbals toward us were offensive. He clearly did not want my toddler in his store. For the record, not that that it should even matter, but My son was not screaming or throwing a tantrum or hurting anything. He just wanted to walk around the store. The appliance that I probably want to buy is $20 cheaper here with free delivery, but they will not be seeing my business after making me feel this way.

ABSOLUTELY BEWARE! I installed painted cabinets in May 2021. By Feb 2022 they were chipping. Ever…read moresince, have been trying to work with the supplier and Showplace's rep to understand and rectify the issue. And the problems are getting MUCH worse. The paint literally will peel off if you use gentle painter's tape or even run your soft finger over an edge. It looks as if my cabinets are 20 years old and I am an extremely light user of my kitchen. My contractor and Showplace's own painter who assessed the situation agree it is adhesion problem. But Showplace keeps coming up with one excuse after another for not having any responsibility. They are claiming that mine is a "unique" issue, but now I see reviews on many sites stating this very same experience. There clearly is a manufacturing defect on painted cabinets. And Showplace does NOT stand behind its warranty. It's really disappointing because I love my kitchen overall and the cabinets are so functional. Sadly, if you are in the market for painted cabinets ... buyer beware. I am happy to share details and pictures of what I have been experiencing.

I had Showplace cabinets but into my home and I am toatally disappointed. Before they were…read moreinstalled, my cabinet store gave me one door so I could try to match paint and flooring. The door was not properly stained and the finish had a lot of bubbles in it. I pointed it out to the distributer and he said not to worry, they would fix it after the cabinets were installed. After the cabinets were installed, I found the finish on every cabinet door to be of the same low quality. The sales rep came to my home and took pictures and agreed that he saw the same flaws. He had to contact the company to see what they were going to do to fix the situations and 5 weeks later, even after several phone calls, I have hear nothing. The cabinet construction seems to be of mid to low grade material. My electricians mounted the outlets and switches under the cabinets and found the typical screws they used were too long and went though the bottom board of the cabinet. The cabinet rep happened to be there at that time and told the electrican it was 3/8 inch think. So the electrician cut all his screws down to 3/8 assuming that with the thickness of the metal box, they should not go through the bottom of the cabinet. They stil poked through. He informed me that the bottom of the cabinets were less than the 3/8 inch thickness the specs stated they should be. I am extremely dissatisfied with this cabinet line.
