The Food Mysore & Guntur Masala Dosas: Absolutely the highlight of the meal. Both dosas were perfectly crisp, rich in flavor, and generously portioned. The spiced chutneys spread inside gave them a great kick. Idli & Wada Sambar: A bit underwhelming. While decent, both were fairly average and lacked the pillowy softness (for the idlis) or signature crunch (for the wadas) you'd hope for. Filter Coffee: Unfortunately, we couldn't try it. Despite the restaurant opening at 9:00 AM and not being particularly crowded, they were already completely out of filter coffee by 11:00 AM was a major disappointment for a South Indian spot. Service & Accessibility The space is not stroller-friendly. If you are visiting with young children in a stroller, be prepared to wait outside while the staff rearranges seating or finds a suitable spot to accommodate you. On the positive side, the staff was willing to make the necessary arrangements, but the entry and seating layout pose a challenge for families. I often eat at unusual times, so parking hasn't be a problem, but there are limited spaces. Not much here by way of ambience. But waitstaff have been pretty nice. Have only had the thali, which I shared (they were out of samosas. Out of samosas! Loss of a star right there!). The thali was almost enough for 2 (hungry) adults. I'm sorry that I can't name any of the items on the platter - some were very good, some just ok, and a couple were 'meh'. For what it's worth, the plain white rice is not of the highest quality (many broken grains). I don't know anywhere that serves thali with all excellent items. I won't hesitate to come here again. And I will, because this location seems to be cursed - nothing lasts more than a year or two. So if you want to try this place, do it soon! read more

Shri Krishna Bhavan is a new all vegetarian restaurant in downtown Bellevue. The place wasn't very busy when we went in the evening and the service was pretty quick. The ambiance isn't any fancy but decent enough. Coming to the food, the meals were my favorite. It's huge and literally has everything covered, highly recommend. Tried their dosa and filter coffee for lunch today, and both were delicious! The dosa was perfectly crispy, and all the chutneys and sambar were flavorful and authentic. The service was excellent, and the host was incredibly warm and welcoming. I asked her for recommendations, and she suggested a few of their specialty dosas, which I'll definitely be trying on my next visit. It was my first time here on a hot afternoon in May. I was craving south Indian food as it's one of my favorites. The moment I walked into the restaurant, it was hot and humid, they didn't have any air conditioning on, probably a bad idea since South Indian food is hot and spicy and not having any air conditioning would make any customer uncomfortably hot. There was one customer there. I waited a few mins to see if someone would come to the front counter to greet me and ask me to be seated, but no one came. I decided to walk around to get attention... then finally got seated. Asked for a samosa and chai, the server mentioned there are no samosas left. So I decided on the masala vada instead. After a solid 15 mins I was served the masala vada, and piping hot chai in a small metal cup of sorts (probably about 2 ounces or so). Metal cups don't do well with hot things and I couldn't hold it as it was burning my fingers... it took me a bit to cool it down and instead poured it into a larger metal glass instead. Masala Vada tasted really stale as well. That 2 oz ~ chai was $5 Masala Vada - $10 I know what good South Indian food tastes like. And this was definitely not it. Given how expensive things have gotten these days, it was an epic waste of money. A definite no-go. Disappointing experience. I think the restaurant needs to work its logistics better to handle busy time and days. Half the items on the menu were not available ( given the reason of long weekend rush) the service was non existent. Water was not given until we asked after waiting for a long time. Mysore masala was the best of all the dosas we ordered. The coconut chutney felt a little tart as if it was on the verge on going bad. The coffee was the worst. Inspite of asking them to make it strong it was very milky and thick. Seating was tight and the restaurant as full even at 3pm for lunch. Average tasting dosas for downtown Bellevue prices. This is a pure vegetarian restaurant, and we tried the Sambar Vada, Idly Plate, Poori with Aloo Saag, and Masala Soda. The Sambar Vada was really good. It came hot, soft, and tasty. The sambar did not taste like the usual Tamil Nadu or South Indian style sambar, but it was still flavorful and enjoyablchange  The idlis were also soft and fluffy. They came with sambar and a few chutneys. The coconut chutney was average, but the tomato chutney was good. The Poori with Aloo Curry was nice too. The pooris were thin, fluffy, and fresh, and they gave a generous amount of curry for two pooris. However, I felt the price was too expensive for just two pooris and aloo curry. The Masala Soda was okay. It had a Hajmola-like taste, so it may not be for everyone, but it was still decent. 3.5 stars. I've visited this place a few times now. I've had the thali several times, and it's pretty good overall. I just wish the rice-to-curry portion ratio was a little better. I recently tried the rava dosa and medu vada and was a bit disappointed. The chutneys and sambar tasted great, but the rava dosa was cold when it was served. The tomato chutney also felt like it had just been taken out of the fridge; I would have expected it to be at least room temperature. The vada was also a little hard. Loved one (that lentil doughnut!), and didn't like the other (doughnut in white sauce). The special spring dosa had a delightful filling and was easy to eat. The guntur spicy garlic masala dosa the delicious with it's dipping sauces. But not spicy. I learned on the way out their default is an Americanized spice level. The ambiance was lovely -- the Krishna mural is beautifully done, and learning that it was designed by the owner's wife added a very personal touch. Both the owner and hostess were warm and welcoming. I also appreciated the chutney presentation in the colors of the Indian flag Food highlights and feedback: * Vijayawada Gongura Madala Dosa -- good heat level after requesting extra spice, but the spice mix was sparse and unevenly distributed. * Guntur Spicy Garlic Masala Dosa -- flavorful, though not as spicy as described. * Onion Rava Masala Dosa -- a dependable classic; however, the sambhar we requested was forgotten. * Cheese Dosa -- simple and nicely prepared; my child enjoyed it. * Paratha with gravy -- the edges were quite dry and tough, while the gravy was average. * Besi Bele Bhath -- unfortunately the weakest dish of the meal; it felt more like plain khichdi, lacking the depth and spice expected from the dish. One service aspect also stood out negatively: dishes were repeatedly handed directly over our heads instead of being placed on the table. Besides being uncomfortable, this felt unsafe, especially with hot sambhar and chutneys around children. Sri Krishna Bhavan is relatively new addition of flair to Indian restaurants in Bellevue. We ordered Thali, VIJAYAWADA GONGURA DOSA SPICY and Masala Soda. The dosa was crispy, filled with delicious potato vegetable and served with 3 chutneys and sambhar. Each chutney is delicious and the sambar was also tasty.I thoroughly enjoyed the taste. The Thali has a lots of variety of vegetables and dals in small quantities. So you can satisfy your pallet in every way. The rasam was very tasty and so was the soup. You do not want to miss the non-white rice. They also make different sambar that goes with different dishes. It is not one for all like other restaurants. Keep room for the sweet. It is not commonly found in other restaurants. Masala soda was a side companion. It has the right mixture of spices and sugar. I loved it. FYI, even though it is called soda, it is not effervescent. The food is truly authentic. It is also made every day and not frozen that is reheated. I asked them how do they get that authenticate taste? They source their ingredients from California on daily basis. And if that is not available, they do not make it. The service was really good. Giridhar answered questions thoroughly and in detail about each dish. He had knowledge of how it is sourced and made. He took customization and custom satisfaction seriously. The ambiance is casual. We went around 7 pm on a Friday and there were a few empty tables at that time. We were a group of four and ordered three dosas and one thali. The thali took the longest to arrive so long that one of us had already finished an entire dosa before it came out. One unusual thing was that each dosa was served with a different sambar, which we weren't really fans of. I ordered the Guntur Spicy Garlic Dosa it was nicely spicy and tasted good. However, the sambar overall wasn't great, and the chutneys were just decent. The service was quite slow. One of the dosas didn't come with sambar due to a shortage, and we were given only two spoons for four people. The owner seemed very overwhelmed and after keeping us waiting for about 10 minutes, asked us to pay at the counter. It is nice to see a South Indian Vegetarian restaurant on Bellevue Way and Main Street. I went with my two nieces from out of town. We ordered Idlis, Dosa and Uttapam. The dishes were well-made and tasty. The servers seemed less experienced and somewhat rushed, but polite. I also appreciated that there were no plastic plates, spoons, and glasses. All utensils were stainless steel and clean. I am sure that the service will improve with time. I certainly plan to go back again when I am in Bellevue. read more
