    Inside Desi Tadka

Came here looking for lunch in the area but also wanting to try something new. Desi Tadka showed up and me already being a fan of Indian food, I figured I'd give it a go. I started with an order of Gobhi Pakora - Cauliflower pieces mixed in spices and fried up. These were ok, I found them a bit "too fried" where it was like corned, sort of like a corn dog, except cauliflower. Also, they only came with these tiny, bitty sauces. This was for take-out. I was in the mood for soup, so I got the Daal Soup - a simple favorite of mine, Yellow lentils cooked with Indian spices. It was good and a decent sized. The food was good, but a tad expensive for really an appetizer and a soup. This is a vegetarian Indian restaurant with many of the options able to be made vegan upon request. I'm glad I gave it a shot here and would consider going back, but the prices being a bit on the high side give a bit of pause in favor other spots, even if not exclusively vegetarian.

My rating is 3.5!!! So this was my first time at a pure vegetarian restaurant in Bellevue. It also has a separate Jain menu (no onion/garlic). Def the food highlights was dum aloo. It was flavorful and it tasted yummy with the super soft Rumali Roti. Chaas was refreshing. But sarson da Saag didn't live up to expectations and the tadka dal was pretty bland. So overall I'd say about half the dishes impressed and half fell flat. Ambiance is super plain, nothing fancy. We went on a long weekend and it was really busy.. the wait to get seated was so long (wish they had mentioned it upfront) coz we ended up missing our movie. The owner did stop by afterward to apologize which I appreciated.

We visited Desi Tadka Indian Grill on Saturday around 1 p.m., and the restaurant was quite full. The menu is very long and provides a wide variety of food, which may be hard to navigate if you are not familiar with Indian cuisine. The service was really quick. The restaurant is clean and family friendly. We ordered the Gobhi Pakora (fried cauliflower). It was seasoned really well, very crispy, and we really liked it. We were impressed that the crispy batter adhered perfectly to the cauliflower without falling off. For our main, we had the Chole Bhature, which was served with a sampler of five different curries. This was a fantastic way to try multiple dishes at once. Each curry was rich, flavorful, and delicious. We highly recommend it!

Stopped by this restaurant for a quick weekend lunch and I really enjoyed our meal! We sat outside and were happy to find that they are dog friendly. There are only two 4-tops out front, but it is still a nice option to enjoy the sun! Note: there is a free lot out front, but it's quite small and fills up quickly. We went inside to let them know we were sitting out front, and the servers were very prompt at getting us utensils, water, etc. They were quick to get us our orders and even though we were outside, we never felt forgotten. We ordered butter paneer and shahi paneer with garlic naan. It also comes with rice. Both curries were delicious. The butter paneer had a nice rich tomato flavor and was not too sweet. I just wish it had more cubes of paneer! The shahi paneer consisted of crumbled paneer and nuts that created a thick texture. It was really good with rice. The garlic naan was more on the thin and crispy side. Overall, I enjoyed our meal and there was plenty leftover to take home. Would recommend if you're in the area!

Recently, I stumbled upon this establishment and was compelled to try it out due to its positive reviews. The staff exhibited exceptional kindness, and what intrigued me further was their exclusively vegetarian menu. Upon placing my order, I opted for the pani puri to dine in and the Amritsari paratha to take away. The pani puri was decent, neither remarkable nor disappointing, although it leaned slightly towards a sweeter taste than I personally prefer. As for the paratha, it was a tad dry for my liking. Given my experience, I intend to explore their diverse offerings during my next visit before forming a final opinion. Update - have tried few more dishes lately and I prefer their dishes like curries, naan, etc and I seem like the taste and the quality better

The restaurant is clean, with very friendly service and a great selection of vegetarian dishes. We ordered the combo meal, which included seven types of sides, rice, and bread (with several bread options, we chose the garlic bread), as well as an order of Chole Bhature. The dishes are vegetarian (not sure if they are vegan) and were delicious. The Chole Bhature and garlic bread stood out as our favorites. While both were slightly more oily than expected, they didn't feel overly heavy or greasy. As someone not particularly familiar with Indian cuisine, I skipped two of the sides due to an unexpected mix of flavors. The service was excellent. Our server patiently explained the menu, and the manager kindly checked in with each table periodically, ensuring everyone was satisfied. The restaurant was pretty full during lunch, with a mix of Indian customers and local professionals, creating a lively yet welcoming atmosphere. Overall, this restaurant offers delicious and comforting dishes, and it'll be on my list when I'm craving Indian cuisine.

A Hidden Gem for North Indian Flavors in the Heart of Bellevue If you're craving bold, authentic North Indian cuisine, this cozy spot in downtown Bellevue is definitely worth checking out! What We Tried: Chole Bhature, Sarson da Saag, Amritsari Kulcha, Vada Pav, Samosa Chaat, Sev Puri The Verdict: Chole Bhature -- fluffy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! Sarson da Saag -- comforting and full of earthy flavor Amritsari Kulcha -- crispy, buttery, and perfectly spiced Samosa Chaat -- tangy, spicy, and super satisfying On the flip side... Sev Puri and Vada Pav were a bit underwhelming -- could use more freshness and flavor. Don't miss the complimentary lassi (technically chaas ) -- light, refreshing, and the perfect palate cleanser! They've upgraded the ambience recently with a more polished, classy look , and table service now makes the experience smoother and more relaxed Final Take: A solid spot to satisfy your North Indian cravings! Stick to their Punjabi staples and street food classics -- but maybe think twice before venturing into other regions on the menu.

Everything we had was so good! All vegetarian and we tried a number of new to us dishes. Service was fast and food was hot and tasty. The dal makani was amazing, and things were spiced just right. It's small so there was a lineup when we left. We will definitely be back! Parking can be challenging but because they share w a Boba place it turns over quickly.

Finally found an amazing Punjabi food. Its a vegeterian restuarant and the Punjabi cuisine was delicious and the options were outstanding. My favorites were the Aalu Paratha, Chilli Paneer, Samosa Chaat, and Aalu Tikki. Aalu Paratha comes as big as 18-22 pizza along with Pickle and Yogurt. The paratha was soft and delicious. felt like a homemade food! The Paneer Chilli was wet, more gravy than expected. but it was good and the paneer was super soft and fresh! Samosa Chaat and Aalu Tikki were both of similar gravy and flavorful. The spice levels are as authentic as you get in India. we ordered Hot, Super Spicy and the spice levels were high due to green chillies but loved it! You need to order at the server station and they serve to your table . Friendly service and staff.

Parking here can be tough if the restaurant and its neighbors in the strip mall are busy, but I waited for a few minutes and a spot opened up. The menu is HUGE and contains a big variety of dishes. For someone who doesn't know a lot about Indian food, I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't sure what the difference was between most dishes. Also, I was a little confused on how to order because there was a QR code on the table (which I ordered through) but then a waitress came over and asked to take our order. When we mentioned we had ordered through the QR, she checked and then saw the order. The food was delicious - good sized portions and with good seasonings and spice. I wish I could remember what I had ordered, but we for sure had garlic naan which was good, and I ordered some type of curry. I would definitely come back here to try something else, but maybe would ask questions to the staff next time to help navigate the menu.

Yummy Vegetarian Indian food. Got the Thali Special ($19.99), great portions with lots of flavorful components including dessert, Butter Paneer, Saag, chana masala, and a few other components. Casual Vibes, located in a strip mall.

The food, or at least what has arrived, was good. The problem was that the waitress completely forgot to come and take our order, and then brought my first course and main course together. My dinner partner was forgotten, completely, and his dish never came. Although the waitress apologized and told us that there is a problem with the new ordering application, we chose to leave the place and not wait for the missing order to arrive. I have to say that I felt as we were the only white people in the room, that we were ignored when it came to the service. One of the locals were sitting at the table next to us had to help us, and only when he called the waitress, she paid attention.

I recently visited desi tadka.... Such a nice place it was... full of hospitality and authentic taste... staff was very welcoming and respectful. Food was very great. I tried Amritsari kulcha it was really osm full of stuffing and crisp. Also dal makhni was very creamy and yummy. Also their dahi puri was best chaat item that i ever had in usa. I really enjoyed everything over there. If you are planning to have great food and good time with your family you must visit this place

I ordered the mango mocktail and the banana curry, and both were delicious. The curry especially stood out. Rice isn't included by default, but there are plenty of carb options--you can add noodles on the side if you're not in the mood for rice. Portions are very generous, so come hungry. One slightly odd thing: they had space heaters running indoors. The overall temperature was comfortable, but the person sitting right in front of one was definitely feeling the heat. Service was very attentive and friendly, though not the fastest--dishes didn't all come out at once. It looked like there were only one or two people in the kitchen, so it's understandable. Overall, if you're vegan/vegetarian--or dining with a group that has dietary restrictions--and you're in Bellevue, this place is worth checking out.

This was on a Friday night at almost 6pm and my friend and I came in to a nearly empty interior that filled up throughout our stay. Is it just dinnertime that time or were my friend and I bringing in the crowds? You'll enjoy a very clean and well-kept restaurant with clean tables and chairs, with lighting that's very little but lights up the whole place well. Menu has a lot of offerings (both regular and vegetarian) but since it's dinnertime I decided on a rice dish as usual. I got their beef short ribs rice dish, which has their usual marinated short ribs with a fried egg and veggies. I actually liked how they offered their rice in a separate bowl, and everything else on one plate... which means the meat almost covered my whole plate! By the way, my friend got their grilled pork chop rice dish, and the meat also almost completely covered his plate. Both our meats were marinated so well and held in so much flavor, and came off their bones easily. We both agreed the grilled beef short rib dish I ordered was the winner because of the bolder and more defined marinated taste of the meat. I've tried so many Vietnamese restaurants and almost exclusively get their beef short ribs rice on the first visits of them, but this is the first time I've seen meat portions this huge for a rice dish. I'm thinking of coming back here for another visit even if I have to deal with the tight parking plaza this place is close to.

The only 2 drawbacks. for me was ... instead of pork belly, they use chicken, i think white meat cause the meat is very dry. The second is they don't offer a lot of fresh herbs with this dish. Just some cilantro and one small branch of Thai basil Next time i order this i will definitely ask for pork belly instead of chicken in my banh xeo. Definitely recommend you trying this restaurant. The fact that these were also coated in oil was pretty nice. On the inside, I thought the prawns were cooked well - they remained pretty soft and didn't appear overcooked I did feel like the spice was pretty much missing, though. I ordered 4/5 stars, but it tasted more like 1/5 stars as there was a pretty significant lack of spice that took away from a lot of the flavor potential. Speaking of the missing flavor, there should've been a lot more sauce added to this dish - either poured on top of the prawns or the prawns come sitting in it. The benefit of this is that it you can mix everything with the rice - and this sauce coats the rice to make it taste good. The way it's currently presented, the prawns are too large to really eat with the rice, and mixing the two will just result in eating the meat and taking another bite of plain rice because there isn't enough sauce to coat the rice. This dish just ended up being eating the prawns by themselves - the rice wasn't super useful As a result, after finishing I really wasn't that full For the price (around 20 ish) there are a good amount of prawns, but I wouldn't really say you're getting a good deal here

The Panang curry had a mild flavor with a subtle lime note and a touch of sweetness, which was interesting but not particularly bold. Overall, the food was okay, but unless you live nearby, it might not be worth the trip. If you do go, I'd recommend ordering a higher spice level, as everything leaned on the mild side.
