Vegetarian Restaurant. Limited Parking Good Food Average pricing Perhaps short staffed on the night I dined? There seemed to be only one young lady waiting tables for the entire dining room. The kitchen staff brought out the food, but pointed to that one young lady to bring silverware, a cup of ice, or even answer a question about the menu. I had to raise my hand to get her attention if I wanted anything. She did ask how my food was after it was tabled. The dining room has booths and tables for solo eaters, as well as groups and families. Went for lunch on a weekend. The kids ordered the Puri Special, which comes with three kinds of puri, chana masala, and aloo subzi. The puris were hot and fresh, but the subzi didn't feel very flavorful or particularly fresh--just okay. My husband and I ordered the makki Di roti with sarson ka saag, and that was the clear standout. Hands down the best sarson ka saag I've ever had--absolutely delicious, spicy, creamy, and packed with flavor. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We also tried the gobi Manchurian. It was tasty, though the portion was smaller compared to what most other restaurants serve. Came here looking for lunch in the area but also wanting to try something new. Desi Tadka showed up and me already being a fan of Indian food, I figured I'd give it a go. I started with an order of Gobhi Pakora - Cauliflower pieces mixed in spices and fried up. These were ok, I found them a bit "too fried" where it was like corned, sort of like a corn dog, except cauliflower. Also, they only came with these tiny, bitty sauces. This was for take-out. I was in the mood for soup, so I got the Daal Soup - a simple favorite of mine, Yellow lentils cooked with Indian spices. It was good and a decent sized. The food was good, but a tad expensive for really an appetizer and a soup. This is a vegetarian Indian restaurant with many of the options able to be made vegan upon request. I'm glad I gave it a shot here and would consider going back, but the prices being a bit on the high side give a bit of pause in favor other spots, even if not exclusively vegetarian. read more

My rating is 3.5!!! So this was my first time at a pure vegetarian restaurant in Bellevue. It also has a separate Jain menu (no onion/garlic). Def the food highlights was dum aloo. It was flavorful and it tasted yummy with the super soft Rumali Roti. Chaas was refreshing. But sarson da Saag didn't live up to expectations and the tadka dal was pretty bland. So overall I'd say about half the dishes impressed and half fell flat. Ambiance is super plain, nothing fancy. We went on a long weekend and it was really busy.. the wait to get seated was so long (wish they had mentioned it upfront) coz we ended up missing our movie. Stopped by this restaurant for a quick weekend lunch and I really enjoyed our meal! We sat outside and were happy to find that they are dog friendly. There are only two 4-tops out front, but it is still a nice option to enjoy the sun! Note: there is a free lot out front, but it's quite small and fills up quickly. We went inside to let them know we were sitting out front, and the servers were very prompt at getting us utensils, water, etc. They were quick to get us our orders and even though we were outside, we never felt forgotten. We ordered butter paneer and shahi paneer with garlic naan. It also comes with rice. Both curries were delicious. The butter paneer had a nice rich tomato flavor and was not too sweet. I just wish it had more cubes of paneer! The shahi paneer consisted of crumbled paneer and nuts that created a thick texture. It was really good with rice. Recently, I stumbled upon this establishment and was compelled to try it out due to its positive reviews. The staff exhibited exceptional kindness, and what intrigued me further was their exclusively vegetarian menu. Upon placing my order, I opted for the pani puri to dine in and the Amritsari paratha to take away. The pani puri was decent, neither remarkable nor disappointing, although it leaned slightly towards a sweeter taste than I personally prefer. As for the paratha, it was a tad dry for my liking. Given my experience, I intend to explore their diverse offerings during my next visit before forming a final opinion. Everything we had was so good! All vegetarian and we tried a number of new to us dishes. Service was fast and food was hot and tasty. The dal makani was amazing, and things were spiced just right. My favorites were the Aalu Paratha, Chilli Paneer, Samosa Chaat, and Aalu Tikki. Aalu Paratha comes as big as 18-22 pizza along with Pickle and Yogurt. The paratha was soft and delicious. felt like a homemade food! The Paneer Chilli was wet, more gravy than expected. but it was good and the paneer was super soft and fresh! Samosa Chaat and Aalu Tikki were both of similar gravy and flavorful. The spice levels are as authentic as you get in India. we ordered Hot, Super Spicy and the spice levels were high due to green chillies but loved it! Parking here can be tough if the restaurant and its neighbors in the strip mall are busy, but I waited for a few minutes and a spot opened up. The menu is HUGE and contains a big variety of dishes. For someone who doesn't know a lot about Indian food, I was a bit overwhelmed and wasn't sure what the difference was between most dishes. Also, I was a little confused on how to order because there was a QR code on the table (which I ordered through) but then a waitress came over and asked to take our order. When we mentioned we had ordered through the QR, she checked and then saw the order. The food was delicious - good sized portions and with good seasonings and spice. I wish I could remember what I had ordered, but we for sure had garlic naan which was good, and I ordered some type of curry. The food, or at least what has arrived, was good. The problem was that the waitress completely forgot to come and take our order, and then brought my first course and main course together. My dinner partner was forgotten, completely, and his dish never came. Although the waitress apologized and told us that there is a problem with the new ordering application, we chose to leave the place and not wait for the missing order to arrive. I have to say that I felt as we were the only white people in the room, that we were ignored when it came to the service. The restaurant was emptier when we arrived but filled up as we got closer to the typical dinner time. It is located in a tiny strip mall so you may have to look for parking elsewhere. There is a smaller lot across the street (to the left of the Safeway entrance) that you can park in if no spots are available immediately in front of the restaurant. The menu has a lot of options and offers a wide variety of dishes. I decided to try something new and go for the Dum Aloo while my friend ordered the Thali. We also got a garlic naan to share. The portions were huge! We both ended up taking leftovers home because there was so much food. Everything was very flavorful and be careful when selecting your spice level as it kicks everything up a notch. My Dum Aloo was delicious - you could taste the subtle hints of ginger among the garlic/onion/tomato base. The Thali is also a great option if you can't choose and are looking to try a variety. It's pretty comprehensive and comes with rice and smaller portions of several different entrees, naan, and kheer. There is also free lassi available at the front with your order. Excellent kala channa. It had so much flavor and the kala channa was cooked perfectly. Paneer kadai was really good-- good soft pieces of paneer and nice gravy, and just the right amount of spices. We got there right when it opened on a Wednesday. Professionally, not so great as workers were still vacuuming and cleaning after open hours. The food took a while to come out, and there was some confusion about missing part of our order. Eventually it got taken care of but our to go order was ready and sitting out for like 10-15 min before we asked about our food and it was given to us. The waitress helped suggest some items to order. The food itself was very flavorful, but too salty. The palak paneer itself was really salty, on the borderline of being inedible. We got the Amritsari Kulcha which was absolutely fantastic, perfectly cooked, generously stuffed, and super authentic. The chole were delicious and paired really nicely. We also got the combo with 2 curries and chose the dal makhni and the saag along with a naan. The curries were both very flavorful albeit a tad rich, but the star was definitely the naan. It was the first time in over a decade in Seattle that I had naan that was reminiscent of India, and not the overly bready and doughy version that you get at most other restaurants. Went for a late weekday lunch. The Thali went up in price from a previous photo I saw, just shy of $20 but it looks like you get a lot of items. I opted for something smaller and a bit more affordable. Ordered a chaat samosa, which is a plate of 2 smashed covered in a sweet and tangy chickpea sauce with cilantro and tamarind chutney. A bit on the wet and sweet side for me, but tasty and very filling. It would have been a bit more balanced if I had ordered some naan or rice to sop up the sauce. It was served on a disposable plate which I thought was surprising. But I did appreciate that it was compostable (though no composting trash bins...). The music on the TV was awesome. Took home notes on some Bollywood artists I need to follow! Other notes: Cashier was very friendly. Food came out fast. Place was clean and spacious. Gobi Manchurian was okay, I would not order it again. Makki Di Roti was the disappointment, I would expect a Punjabi place to have great Makki Di Roti. I would not order it again. Our sizable group gave this restaurant a try as we were excited to try a vegetarian focused Indian restaurant. On the positive side, they have a vast menu with over 100 items. We tried a large sampling of various appetizers and entrees and we were left disappointed. The dishes were very buttery and salty. The naan bread the worst I've had. Unfortunately, they missed the mark on the basics as well: they start by bringing out a large craft of warm soapy water that we have to pour ourselves. When I ordered a soft drink they provided a dirty can and a straw and figured that it would be sufficient. When i asked to bring a dish home (my party thought I was crazy!) I was provided with a thimble to stuff the food into. When it was time to pay, the waitress informed us that we should give her a cash tip because if we left a tip on the electronic payment, the owner would keep it for himself ( highly illegal). I'm a fan of their saag. It's always fresh and flavourful. I got the lunch special - 2x curries, salad, pickle, rice and either roti/tandoori roti/naan for $14. The Aloo Tikki Chaat didn't impress either--bland flavor profile and poorly constructed. To top it off, the packaging wasn't suitable for takeout, which made the experience even more underwhelming.
