I work on the east side and was craving some Tikka Masala for lunch. Lots of places on Door Dash had insane prices and/or wait times. I was initially concerned about Cafe Bollywood because of the Yelp reviews, but decided to order from here anyway. Let me say, it was great!! Got the Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, and Mango Lassi and they all hit the spot! Prices were super reasonable too. Arrived quickly. I would definitely order from here again. What this place lacks in charm, plates, or non-plastic silverware, it makes up for with a ridiculously enticing smell and some very strong flavors. Walking down Bellevue Way, I was drawn into this place by the scent that wafted down the street. I ordered the kadhai lamb, which did not disappoint. It was super savory and spicy and full of meat and goodness. The naan was pleasingly floury and paired with it nicely. Overall, it was just better than I expected. We were looking for an Indian restaurant that was open very late. Cafe Bollywood was the only one that was still open late. It was not too crowded and it was the perfect late night dinner spot. We ordered Samosas, Chicken Biriyani and Chicken 65. The Chicken Biriyani was one of the best we have had, not too spicy but flavorful. The Samosa was delicious and not greasy (which was key). Do not recollect how many Samosas came in one order though (definitely 2). The Chicken 65 was good but we felt it was oily. The service was great and the items were ready faster than we expected. I was craving tandoori (achari) paneer tikka and ordered delivery from here. Pretty disappointing to be honest, the paneer was firm, dry and bland. The roomali roti I ordered was also bland. The included green chutney was nice though (not sweet like some Indian restaurants.) read more

I'd recommend the chicken tikka masala or butter chicken , lamb korma and samosas (warning they are VERY spicy ). Don't forget to order the gulab jamun for dessert. I usually only eat here for lunch since they used to have a killer lunch combination. It's still really good, but they no longer let you choose which combination of items are in your lunch since they pick it for you in the back. But the variety is still good since they give you a lot of food, and their naan bread is fresh and tasty. They also package it well for to-go orders. I would give them a four star review, but their health rating (as of Feb 2024) is just "okay" which doesn't instill a lot of confidence in their quality of food preparation. read more

I stopped in a week ago just to check it out after I ate next door. They were super nice and just randomly gifted me a potato dumpling of some sort, which was good. So I thought I'd give it a try. You have to order on a screen yourself but when choosing spice level it only gave either super hot or very hot. I asked how I could get it medium hot, but just got brushed off. I ordered Chicken Tika, Garlic Naan, and a soda. The first miss was that the soda fresh out of their little fridge was not cold. I asked for a cup of ice and was told they have none. Next, the way they served it up was weird and messy. The chicken was in a top less round plastic take away container, the rice in a separate smaller one. The Naan was in a flat basket lined with parchment. No plate. The Tika was all dark meat and lacked any flavor or heat. I've never had Tika with dark meat before and was disappointed but I should have asked. The chicken was soft as if it had been stewed for a long time and since my meal was ready in just 3 minutes, I assume this was the case. The sause was lacking any heat and was thin and watery. When dipping the Naan it just dripped right off and made for a messy meal. The Naan was super thin, with little flavor and seemed under cooked. The garlic it was dressed with was flavorless and seemed an after thought. Overall it was not good. I'll not be back. Total bill BTW was on $25. read more

The food was below average. Tandoori Roti - was Cooked on one side and the other side was not cooked. Who gives an uncooked food? The bhature was ok but it felt like the oil used to fry in it was not fresh and tasted a bit weird. Chicken tandoori was good it seems. I tasted a bit was ok. The samosa chaat was too sweet and had lot of yogurt in it. I am a yogurt lover but still could handle it. The samosa used in it was a frozen one. This is one of those places I wish I could add a half star. I love Indian food and have been meaning to try CB when in Bellevue. Today was the day for some takeout, which seemed to be 100% of their business this particular Saturday evening, despite having a modest amount of indoor/outdoor seats. I ordered a selection of items including one of my favorites, Samosa Chaat. We also had Butter Naan, Tandoori Shrimp, Jalfrezi Vegetables and some basmati rice. The food had to travel about 25 minutes, which I take into account, but the packaging was definitely problematic for my beloved Samosa Chaat. Everything was packed in the same container, mixed together, which means samosa, Chana masala, raita and chutney. Not a good ride for the samosa, which where soggy. The flavors were good, but I would have preferred to have the components a little more defined. Spouse threw his half of samosa out. I am going to try to salvage the other one tomorrow out of the soupy Chana. Similarly, the Jalfrezi was a bit limp and salty. The shrimp were cooked well and generously portioned. Basmati rice and naan both good, but it didn't appear to be Butter Naan. Spouse whipped out our jar of ghee and set things right. The staff was hospitable and offered me a beverage while I waited. I would give Cafe Bollywood another chance if I could eat in or make sure my food was packed to travel. read more

We ordered takeout from Cafe Bollywood recently, on a Saturday night ordering after 11pm, we had to wait for 40 mins to get our food (we were told that while ordering). We got Tandoori Murgh, Murgh Malai Kabab, Lamb Rogan Josh, and Tandoori Roti. We liked the Tandoori Murgh, Lamb Rogan Josh was okay. Tandoori Roti was the best item we got, very well made. The reason I am giving them 3 stars is the Murgh Malai Kabab, the kabab pieces were big and had no taste, hadn't taken on any flavor from the marinade. Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines and I'm all for supporting small and local businesses, but the food at Cafe Bollywood fell short and was just not good. Which is just a shame, especially with such a steep and undeserving price. My wife and I ordered: Lamb Rogan Josh Lamb Biryani Garlic Naan Mango Lassi (mango drink) For both entrees, the lamb was not only sparse and few, but it dry and sinewy. For the Rohan Josh, the broth was overly salty, whereas for the Biryani, the rice was entirely bland and not flavored well. Which, I repeat, is such a downright shame! The salvaging saving grace was the garlic naan, which was pretty decent (+1 star there). Even the mango lassi, which my goodness is $4, was weirdly off. It tasted like a sour mango that was made into a drink, then pumped with a pound of sugar. It was sour and sweet and just didn't taste right. Ok, I'm fine paying a decent price for mediocre/subpar food. But with each entree going for around $20 and the entire meal costing more than $50, this was a bit of highway robbery. Their dishes are consistently good and can be asked with less ghee or no ghee or butter to suit your needs. Try their Salmon tikka it is the best dish you would have in Bellevue. Perfectly cooked on the inside and crispy on the outside always makes for a protein rich dinner that is guilt free. We came here on Christmas eve, late at night and only because most other restaurants seemed closed. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service at cafe bollywood. It was extremely busy and we were told to expect a little bit of a wait for the food to come. However it was only 10 mins when the first of our order started coming. The biryani was better than any we've had in the Seattle area. Not overpowering with masalas like most places, but still very flavorful. The dahi bhalle were such a delight. My friend and I came here for dinner, as we wanted something close to Bellevue Downtown Park, which is where we were heading to afterwards; and since her favorite food is Indian - we decided to give Cafe Bollywood a try. And I'm so glad we did! It was tasty, solid Indian food in a casual setting. While my friend ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala, which the cashier mentioned was her favorite vegetarian dish, I asked about the Chicken Kadhai, as seen as the special of the day. The cashier mentioned that it was spicy and allowed me to try a sample, which sold it for me. I love spicy food, and the Chicken Kadhai certainly brought the heat! When you order, the cashier asks if you'd like the curry in an 8oz. or 16oz. bowl. We both went with the 16oz., as it came with rice. (The 8oz. option does not.) We also ordered a side of Garlic Naan with. It didn't take too long to get our food, as the naan took the longest to make. And unfortunately, I can't say the Garlic Naan was worth the wait, as it wasn't as fluffy and light as we had hoped. The naan actually seemed to have a more stiff texture, so didn't tear as easily. But the garlic flavor was abundant, which was good. However, since both of our dishes had a side of rice with the large bowl, we didn't really need the naan for our curries. My friend really enjoyed her Paneer Tikka Masala, and I liked my Chicken Kadhai, too. In fact, after eating more and more of the Kadhai, my mouth was on fire, so had to keep refilling on the water! But it was very tasty, and had lots of chicken. I'd eat this dish again. All in all, we enjoyed our dinner at Cafe Bollywood. Glad to have this so close to home, especially for when I want quick Indian food and am avoiding a restaurant setting. They do have outdoor seating, which is dog-friendly, and parking is available on the back and side of the building. I'm surprised that this place does not have 5 stars. We showed up here at 12 am at night and it was still buzzing with a lot of people. One of the very few Indian places open late at night. Food: We had the tandoori jhinga, Murgh chettinadu, Lamb Rogan Josh, Aloo Papri Chaat and Samosa. All of the dishes were delicious. I very disappointed when my friend take me to lower rate restaurants. and I have read a review about rude staff and cockroaches (I don't mind that much about cockroaches as long as they don't dance in my food) so my expectations was very low but turn out to the place actually amazing. The guys from the back keep working and come clean the table when he has a chance. It's just a normal place but the food actually hella amazing and very reasonable price. I can tell from the details how they prepared food and ingredients that they made them With love. I ordered something that was rice and chicken. The chicken very soft and about to melt in my mouth. With that price they don't have to take more time to prepare the chicken to be good like that but they do extra work to make their food test good and good texture. Also the fish curry, the fish was crispy flavorful and go well with the curry. 10 stars for chefs and cooks. Went for the channa pindi - 8 oz and medium spice - a veggie samosa and an order of tandoori roti. With 2 bottles of water it came to $19.40. Note that rice is available as a side. I opted out on that this time. Channa pindi was good. Spice level was fine. Nice sauce and plenty of garbanzos. Veggie samosa was hot!
