But, we wanted a working Wii so my wife called around and discovered this place. They couldn't repair our game system but sold us a replacement one (minus the cords and stuff which we already had and thus didn't need) for around $20, with a 30-day warranty. We took it home and it works. So, we are back to playing the Wii. Wheeee! They also sold retro toys, board games, video games, movies, and other "nerdish" things. It was a fun walk through, though you could easily empty your wallet and walk out with some nifty things if you aren't careful.

You can tell that these folks love what they do and that they are serious about their craft. We visited this store on a road trip. It's a little out of the way if you're traveling either the Northway or Thruway, but absolutely a place we'll return any time we're in the area. It is absolutely worth your drive. Great place! FlipSide Gaming SAVED THE DAY! Huuge shoutout to Kailer who helped me out…read more I'm not knowledgeable about TCGs but my partner was really excited for a new release. I pre-ordered the booster packs to surprise her without realizing that we can't even play the game without the resources from the "starter/trial decks". By the time I realized we needed these decks, NONE of my local game shops had any in stock and online listings were all scalpers selling for 2-3x MSRP. I contacted FlipSide gaming about re-stocks on the trial decks and they said they don't have an ETA but to sign up for their notifications. Perfectly reasonable response and I thought that was that. However, later in the day, Kailer contacted me back and said they received some returns for the starter decks and set up an invoice so I could place an order!! They totally could have just sold these in store or increased stock online - they would absolutely sell. But Kailer went out of his way to contact me back and manually set up an invoice for the purchase. Now we can actually play this game without having to pay scalpers!! Very disappointed with my recent experience with Flipside Gaming…read more I purchased a booster box case when it was $850. Instead of being properly protected and double-boxed, Flipside placed the shipping label directly on the case and shipped it that way. The case arrived damaged. I reached out to customer service expecting an exchange. Unfortunately, they would only offer a full refund -- no replacement. What makes this even more frustrating is that the same case is now listed for $2,000. I'm left with a refund for an $850 purchase while the company can sell that inventory for significantly more. Regardless of the market price, customers should receive the product they paid for, especially when damage occurred during shipping and the packaging provided little protection. If you're ordering a case from Flipside Gaming, be aware that it may not be double-boxed or shipped with additional protection. Very unhappy with how this was handled and the overall customer service experience.

Bearing in mind, this Jay St. location is extremely small and is not as good as their other locations. I personally find a lot of the stuff here cool and I love vintage games, but the prices are ridiculous. A lot of these games cost well over $20 and some are over $100. The old PlayStation 2 games are about $20 a piece and I can buy them online for half that. In similar fashion, the brand new video games usually cost more here than anywhere else, I suggest going to GameStop instead. I would also like to mention that the employees here are usually rude and treat the customers poorly. However, this Jay St. does have a lot of classic movie posters and large variety of vintage games even if they are overpriced. Once and for all, Jay St. is fine vintage game store, but it's expensive and the employees are rude.

The first time I brought stuff in the guy working misquoted me a higher number for one of the items I brought in by A LOT. He offered me at least $50 less for it because of this. In addition, they rejected another one of my items because they "couldn't get it to charge". Needless to say I did not sell my items to them. I got home popped a Verizon SIM card in my iPhone and LO AND BEHOLD the phone works. I also plugged the other item in and LO AND BEHOLD it charged right up and held its charge. Basically they wasted an hour of my life and lost business. I do hope the guy who told me my iPhone was locked just made an honest mistake BUT he would have some money to gain if he had convinced me to sell it to him at the lower locked price then turned around and sold it as an unlocked. My suggestion to you would be to make sure you go on the CEX website and get your own quote for the items you are thinking of bringing in. Secondly, try and be in the store when the manager Alissa is working because she actually knows what she's doing. Several of the employees there are unprofessional, slightly rude, and don't know how to do their job correctly.
