Played the course Aug 2 2026. Have been playing Shuksan for about 15 years. This is one of the most interesting 18's in the NW. it was taken over by new owners about 6 years ago. The course is in the best shape it has ever been. The greens are a bit slow but almost flawless. The course overall for early August is in excellent shape. My wife and were so gratified to see owe the course has been transformed. It is a challenging 18 wonderful 18. The clowns who gave it low ratings really mislead the general public from experiencing a great 18. I am glad they won't be showing up in my future foursomes. read more

I'll start with saying this is a beautiful golf course and the course is in great condition. This week we got an email with a special promotion for Tuesday's , $55 with a cart. When booking online, it showed the normal cost, so we called to check on this. We were told that they would adjust the fee when we check in for our booking. Upon check-in, they told us it was an error and they would NOT honor the special promotion price. Any place that puts out announcement or special pricing should honor it, it's Just bad business practice to not honor a special promotion , especially when we called and verified it. read more

Course is in poor condition, July. I bought an 8 round card in 2024 and was told at time of purchase it never expires. 2025 the conditions were terrible so did not use the card at all in 2025, went to play for the first time this year July, thinking the course should be decent, no conditions questionable at best, greens slow, bumpy, still had punch marks and sand, some tee boxes completely burned out. Went to put the rounds on my punch card that never expired, guess what, expired. Gave me 2 "free" rounds compensation and I am somehow supposed to be happy with paying $425.00 plus taxes for 2 rounds of golf in crap condition, TOTAL RIP OFF NEVER COMING BACK, STAFF RUDE, CONDITIONS AWFUL read more

I bought a 8round card 2024 June and he said this card expired in two years and I checked today my card expired 2025 December so it's only one year and six months and I only played 3 times so lost 5 games which is about $250 what kind of Business they are doing so never buy around card again read more

Played this golf course on 4/18/25. Golfing here has its ups and down just like the holes. Currently about half the greens have bad patches in them that truly affect your putting if you hit your ball on the wrong side of hole. Fairways are in great shape but due to all the rains we had they are still currently cart path only. Cost was $90 with a cart that I split with my friend. I was shocked at the price of the food, I paid $17.00 for a sandwich and fries, seems a bit steep for food. They have a nice driving range with a chipping area near by and putting green. Nice views of the valley with the occasional eagle flying by. Please fix the green, we have a tournament coming up in June, if the greens still look the same our team with not be attending this year, last year we placed second. read more

Very disappointed with the condition of the course. Most fairways are completely dried out and hard as rock. Many greens appear to have been damaged to the point where you can't get decent roll. So sad to see what was a lovely course in such sad shape. Hopefully it will regain some of it former luster soon. read more

Really disappointed with the condition of the golf course. Played here years ago and it was pristine. Because of the dry summer they are having trouble keeping the course irrigated. Many dry spots, and hard pan in the fairways as well as the rough. Also they seem to be having a problem with some of the greens and some of the tee boxes were just dirt. Staff was friendly and you could tell this was and could be again an awesome course but it's like they just ran out of money to keep it maintained. The restaurant was awesome. Very good service and food as well as a beautiful physical structure with views all over the course. we played Loomis Trail the following day, and I would spend my money there until Shukstan gets their house in order. hopefully they survive because there weren't very many people there on a beautiful Wednesday in the summer. read more

Why the mediocre reviews for this golf course? I got the pleasure to play Shuksan for the first time early morning on July 19, 2017. One of the guys in my group bought the 10 rounds package deal and it worked out to be very affordable since he was able to use that package for everyone in our group (give or take $40 USD each). The people who worked here this day were all smiles and upbeat. Although, you may possibly walk the course, I wouldn't recommend it. To be honest, I'm not even sure if they will allow you to walk the course since you would probably slow down the overall pace of play. Elevation challenges are waiting for you throughout the course. We did play from the blue (back) tees and the slope/rating is set at 72.9/137. The elevation changes throughout the course will definitely come into heavy play. I found the course to be a little dry but it was the summer time after all. This didn't negatively affect where my golf balls would end up lying. It was just an eyesore to see yellow and brownish fairways. The greens were surprisingly in good conditions even though the fields were looking a little parched. Not only does elevation come into play here, but there are plenty of hazards as well. At times, Shuksan golf course felt like it was built on a marshland. Whether it be creeks, lakes, or just some nasty mushy stuff, it'll be wise to keep your ball safely in the fairways as much as you can. Shanks, slices, or hooks may get your blood boiling since it'll most likely mean bye bye golf ball and par. There are plenty of chances for you to lose your golf balls here but you will probably end up finding a lot others too. As stated by a previous Yelper, Shuksan elevated greens sucks. Not being able to see the green but only the top half of the flagstick is kind of shitty. Good thing there aren't too many of these types of situations. The green on hole #4 is the perfect example of this. It's no wonder that it is listed as handicap 1 on the scorecard. Other than that, Shuksan Golf Course was a fun course to play. The power carts seem to run on gas rather than electric battery like down here in So Cal. It's challenging but not to the point where it defeats you. At times, killing the driver is ideal while other times, being disciplined and keeping it in the bag is wiser. The pace of play was just slightly over 4 hours. I think we saw the drink girl cruise by 1-2x later in our round. The scenery changes quite a bit and I liked seeing the snowy Mount Baldy in the background on certain holes in the front 9. I think the course is underrated. Definitely wouldn't mind at all to come back and give it another shot. read more

Just played this past Saturday. Course has gorgeous views. Pro shop was well stocked & staff friendly. Greens were recently aerated. Understand the need to do that. Plugs however were left scattered around the edges of the green resulting in poor conditions & inconsistent bounces & roll. Not a good experience. Greens also have many bare spots. Hopefully they are able to get greens in better shape. read more

I headed down to Shuksan Golf Course on Monday afternoon on the hopes of breaking 100. The last few round has been poor for me and I was looking to redeem myself! My buddy and I chowed down at the local McDonalds before heading to the course. Bad mistake! Yeah food is cheap at Micky Ds but you pay for it after! I don't want to make excuses but scarfing down 10 mc nuggets, medium fries, a cheese burger, and a large drink in 15 minutes made me feel quite queasy for the rest of the day! Anyways, I think this is the first time I've played this course. The guys I played with said I've played here before but it must have been a long time ago cuz it looks new to me. The conditions were ok. Wet at certain spots, and it was cart path only. The greens were not very true. They were in rough shape. Too many bumps and divets and you don't get an honest roll. Still I like the lay out of the course. It has some challenging holes and elevation changes. In the end I lost 6 balls and shot 102! I suck!!! Haha! read more

Came again for a sorority function today. The food was cold and the au jus was congealing as it was served. Heard rave reviews about the Turkey noodle soup. Liked the very lemony sorbet. Can you believe they only charged $5.00 for wine or other alcohol. Maybe cloches would help or keep food warm. If we come again perhaps a buffet Thanks for individually taking our orders. read more

Shuksan golf course is usually mentioned in the same breath as the other quality public golf courses in Bellingham - specifically North Bellingham, Loomis Trail and Semiamhoo. This hilly course is fairly hilly and winds its way through a wooded valley. The tee shot of of the 1st tee drops several stories in height; I hit driver from the blues and flew the fairway by 50 yards. The ascent down is one of the steepest that I've seen; the target golf aspect of this course couples with some - the tight of this course coupled with some significant drops through the woods makes this course kind of a Northwest version of Luana Hills in Oahu. Although it's technically walkable, I'd recommend getting a cart. Starting off, the customer service is excellent. The clubhouse employees were very helpful and the starter went out of his way to ensure that I had a good experience. The first thing that you'll notice about this course is that it's target golf. This course places a premium on tee shots - shot placement and club selection off of the tee is critical! If you play from the whites, you probably won't be playing driver too much. The greens, however, leave a lot to be desired. I'm not sure what kind of grass it was ( probably 100% Poa Annua by now) but they were extremely spongy - I actually saw a ball plug on the green on a approach shot. There was moss growing on some of the greens, which I've never seen before! The greens ran true, but they were so slow that it took me about five holes to get used to how slow they were. They need to mow the greens down closer and firm them up. Another issue with that I have with the design of this course is that many of the approach shots are severely uphill. Gary Player said it best - that the greatest holes in golf either play straight or downhill. There were many greens were you could only see the top of the flag on your approach due to elevation or mounding in front of the green. Shuksan doesn't have different colored flags for pin placement (another suggestion), so you have to have a range finder (and preferably a yardage book) to have any chance to get it close. The par 3 tee boxes, when I played, were also pretty hammered. Shuksan needs to provide sand at both the tee boxes on these holes as well as on the carts so that players can repair their divots. Some holes have some gorgeous views of Mt Baker, and if you know your way around the course, it's a pretty good test of golf. My recommendation when playing this course for the first time is to play very conservatively until you know your way around the greens and where all of the water hazards come into play. read more

Extremely disappointed. We brought 11 people to our reservation at 2:00. Servers were nice and accommodating, but the food was actually bare minimum in quality. The prime rib was good and tender the ham extremely dry and the food was of a frozen food quality. The quiche was not labeled as seafood so my mother who is allergic took a bite and quickly spit it out. They were apologetic but her mouth tingled the whole meal. The cream puffs were spoiled (the cream was rancid) sausage was frozen heated links. Bacon was overly crispy that was crumbled in pieces. I'm sorry but for $300 it was not worth it. read more

Non-Golf Review. Shuksan Golf Club Clubhouse was the location for a friend's wedding. In late August. This clubhouse has an amazing location, perched above a natural valley overlooking the golf course and, I suspect, boasting an incredible view of Mt Baker. But not on the day I visited. "Socked in" as they say, though the Sun came out for the wedding on the patio that, I can only assume, has Mt Baker as a gorgeous backdrop. The clubhouse itself is nice but a little dated. The teal green carpet has got to go. The tired paint and trim needs a refresh. The food was pretty good. The wait to enjoy it was not. The food came 2.5 hours after the 10 minute wedding ceremony. That's a long time when no other activities are planned. The bar was okay, our hosts provided some beer and wine choices, and somehow those choices made it until the food arrived. The food was Prime Rib served buffet style. The food was pretty good but what food isn't good when one is starving? In the end, it was a wedding. The surroundings were beautiful and location provided what we needed. Could it have been better? Sure. But we had fun anyway! read more

This is a beautiful location for private events. The banquet facilities are not opulent but the food, so carefully prepared by Darcy and her team in the kitchen, is second to none. Every year we do a charity golf tournament at Shuksan and the players/supporters look forward to dinner and cocktails afterward, thanks to Darcy's cooking and her devotion to her guests. The hugely favorite items are the flavorful prime rib and macaroni and cheese, followed by a delicious cobbler for dessert. The golf course itself is a really fun track and all of the players in our tournament enjoy it. It's not impeccable but it sure is fun. read more

This course is in very good shape. The staff is very friendly and the golf fees are very reasonable. I have to critique the one food item i had. A microwave hotdog was five dollars and not very tasty. I will bring my lunch and recommend you do the same read more

Extremely disappointed with the golf clubhouse gentleman, I golf this course 1-2 times a week, showed up at 5:00 Thursday for twilight, 85-90 degrees out, wore a very respectable nike muscle shirt and shorts, and was not allowed on the course, this guy looked me up and down, treated me like a bum off the street, told him this is all I had brought, instructed me to buy clothing from them, REALLY?...(this is what I have wore in the past 50% of the time) this guy was on a power trip tonight, thanks for convincing me to golf other courses...No couth at all, not like it was Sunday afternoon attire!!!! read more
