My husband and I did the 90 min Physiotherapy TuiNa Massage with Tina & May. It's not your typical relaxing Swedish massage. They use deep tissue pressure point massage, stepped on my back, did a little stretching & used oil & hot stones to help with circulation, remove toxins & relieve pain. The only complaint I have is that they don't have a face pillow, so my chin was hurting towards the end when face down, but overall a good experience. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel I need to share my experience to help other customers. Yesterday, I visited this massage spa because I saw that it had many great reviews. Before booking, I called and specifically requested a 90-minute full-body deep tissue massage for relaxation, and I also asked for foot massage because my feet had been very sore. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. My massage therapist was a Chinese woman who seemed to have very limited English. Communication was very difficult. Many times I could barely understand what she was saying, and it became clear that she did not understand my requests because she did not provide the massage I had asked for. During the massage, she repeatedly used her elbow with excessive force around my shoulder blades and along my back. She also performed cupping directly over the middle of my spine and dragged the cups forcefully along that area. She frequently applied pressure directly on my bones instead of the surrounding muscles. Throughout the session, I repeatedly asked her to be gentler because I was in pain. She would reduce the pressure for only a few strokes, then immediately return to using the same excessive force and speed. When she worked on my lower body, she used her forearm to apply very strong pressure along my IT band. The pain was so intense that I cried out. Again, she eased up briefly after I asked, but within moments she returned to the same painful pressure. To make matters worse, she never massaged my feet at all, even though that was one of the main reasons I booked the appointment and specifically requested it when making the reservation. After I got home, my entire body was extremely sore. My husband noticed the severe marks on my back from the cupping. I understand that cupping normally leaves temporary marks I have had cupping many times before but I have never experienced long bruising and discoloration running along the center of my spine like this. This is the first time I have been in so much pain after a massage. Because of this experience, I called the owner to ask whether the therapist was licensed. He told me that everyone working there is licensed. However, based on the way I was treated, I genuinely question whether the therapist had the proper training or qualifications. A licensed massage therapist should understand appropriate anatomy, know where excessive pressure should be avoided, respond appropriately when a client says they are in pain, and provide the service that was requested. The owner did not seem concerned about what happened. He simply said he would let his wife know, and that was the end of the conversation. I am not asking for a refund. My purpose in writing this review is to let the owner know that this therapist provided a very poor experience, could not communicate effectively in English, ignored repeated requests to reduce the pressure, and failed to provide the service I booked. This was without question, the worst massage I have ever received. I sincerely hope no other customer has to go through the same experience. If the therapists at this establishment are indeed licensed, I hope the owner provides additional training and supervision. If not, I hope the appropriate licensing authorities will verify that everyone providing massage services is properly licensed and qualified. I encourage anyone considering this spa to think carefully before booking. read more

My partner likes to come to Napa to do the floating pods for relaxation. It's not really my thing so I'll drop her off and find somewhere to get a massage. This business will always come up on my search, but since we always decide to come out this way spur of the moment, there's usually no more appointment times available. This time we planned ahead and were able to sync up our appointments. Today I received a 90 minute deep tissue massage from Anna and left feeling extremely rejuvenated. She had me so relaxed that I fell into the deepest sleeps throughout the entire session. I remember waking up often, forgetting where I was. My muscles feel soft like jello and my mood is calm and zen. Anna had the warmest and kindest energy from the moment she greeted me. Even when I mentioned that the pressure was a little too much in a certain area, she was very receptive and adjusted the pressure immediately to my liking. I asked her name at the end of the session and she told me while giving me a warm hug. It was really sweet. Oh and the hot stones were a nice surprise!! There are 2 dedicated parking spots in the back of the building, through a very narrow driveway. And if you pay cash, the price is cheaper than paying with a card. Their online booking system is really easy to use and you can specify which therapist you want to book with. Will definitely be back when visiting Napa. read more

On my rode trip to Clear Lake on my returning trip my lower back went out not being able to sit in my truck correctly I had to drive with my left leg. I stopped in Napa and with the help of Tina and her just the right amount of pressure she was able to correct the alignment. There was tears in my eyes from the pain but after her dedication to my pain relief, she managed to resolve my problem. I was.a bit apprehensive as always when I've scheduled myself for a massage. But I chose Shumin Yu for a particular reason. I needed or least wanted a deep tissue massage, but also needed to someone who could focus on reflexology as well. And boy did I hit the jackpot! I scored because I came to the right business and I also received my massage from the owner herself ( shown in business photo) . And she really worked my body for a straight hour, breaking down all the tension that I had built up and then loosened my entire body up with techniques of reflexology which I just couldn't do on my own, then concluded my session with relaxing my arms, shoulders, back, buttocks and legs with a warm stone massage. It's normally $75 for 60 min, but if you pay with cash it's $70. She gave deep pressure, used hot stones, and facilitated some stretches that kind of made me feel like I was pretzel shaped. The place is quaint, smelled clean and fresh as soon as you walk in, and was very quiet, and linens were clean. It is a massage place only and not a spa so if you're looking for a full or half day experience, this is not your place. But if you're looking to get a life changing massage THIS is your place! I've never received this type of Chinese massage, but it entails pressure points and stretching and it's exactly what my neck, shoulders and hips needed. This place is ahhhhhhhmazing, especially if you're an athlete like me. I do Jiu Jitsu, so whenever my rhomboid flares up, this is where I go for instant healing. My first visit was with Shumin, who was wonderful. Best massage I ever received. I decided I'd go back. I just completed my second visit with Vivian, who was just as effective as Shumin. They are both strong and checked in periodically to see if I was ok. I love the technique they practice, which not only includes hot stones but also Thai massage type of stretching. It's awesome. Best massage of my life with Vivian. You can ask her and the others to use less pressure if that's your thing. For me, it doesn't feel like a massage does anything unless it's intensely hard. Most of the time I get them I feel I've thrown my money away. Here I was reminded just how important body work can be! This was the deepest deep tissue massage I've ever had. I was on day 2 of being very uncomfortable in my low and upper back following a bunch of hard workouts and some yard work where I had lifted an extremely heavy planter. Two days where nearly every waking second was spent thinking about pain on some level. I was getting worried an old injury had returned. This is a very minimally decorated massage studio. No frills. I've been to a nearby day spa boasting infrared saunas, radio frequency facials, and essential oil candles, and it's very different here. And Vivian was similarly no nonsense. This was real deal DEEP tissue. I had to disassociate to my happy place and resist tapping out many times! Vivian was POWERFUL, and hit all the right spots, seeming to sense when an area needed more time, and when I had had enough. She was very well trained, and knew so many ways to massage each area. About midway through I got a chiropractic style release in my upper back and I was all smiles from then on even when it hurt. Near the end we did some stretching. Not one stretch was something I have ever done before, and they felt great! Again I was so impressed with her power. That night I went right to sleep and slept hard. The next morning I could feel the clouds of discomfort parting. No pain all day! That nagging ache is ELIMINATED. Day two, with the residual soreness over, I'm feeling healed! Ready to get back to life! Vivian said I'm very tight compared to most. She's earned my return business to take care of that for sure! If you need an athletes' massage with someone powerful to get through muscle, and who's confident taking you into deep water, I can't imagine better. read more
