    Burger of the Day!
    Mark H.

I was in Lexington for a business conference and this was right around the corner from my hotel. I was craving a burger and this place seemed to have a good reputation, so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad I did! The burger was one of the best I've ever eaten, and I am a serious carnivore! It was called the Ron Swanson and was wagyu beef, applewood smoked bacon, Muenster cheese, and BBQ bacon mayo, on a buttered and grilled bun, along with amazing fries, and a sauce that has to be tried to believe! I'll be back here on my next trip to Lexington.

Visited on a Sunday when they usually don't serve burgers, but they accommodated my need for meat and made me a burger! It was a Sidechick with sweet potato fries accompanied by a hefe beer. Truly awesome experience for a one-time visit through the city.

Kitchen old school grill has been around a long time.

traveling through Lexington found this on Yep. This place is in downtown Lexington. It's a small place. Good atmosphere, sit at the bar, and look at the old grill that has been seasoned over the years. Fresh hand-made patties for the burger. And when I tasted it, you could taste the seasoning from the grill. Good service from the bartender.

Goddamn. Food was phenomenal, Excellent service. Definitely a good start to the evening and let me tell you the night is still young.

We were looking ( on yelp) for a new place to eat and we found Sidebar Grill which is located on Limestone just across from the courthouse. It is a dive bar with some great food. We had burgers and chose sweet potato fries (a must try) and a side salad. The burger was one of the best that I have had in awhile and the prices are very reasonable. There is a good selection of food on the menu including dinner items such as flat iron steak, fried chicken, and fish and chips. This place will be in our restaurant rotation.

A local bar located across from the Fayette County Circuit Courthouse. We happened to eat there the first time on my Birthday last night. We had heard they had the best burger in town and that is what I wanted to eat on my Birthday. We were there on a Thursday night and it seemed like they had a good crowd. The place is small and cozy and the food was delicious. I had the 1/4 lb burger and the house salad. The burger was tasty and the salad was great with better lettuce and a lot of topping and great ranch dressing. My husband ordered the sweet potato fries with his burger and they were excellent. This is a place I will definitely return and eat again.

This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable. A special thank you to the team who took care of us on Saturday, March 7th, 2026. You elevated an already wonderful experience and made it even better than usual.

The ambiance is the perfect blend of modern sophistication and warm, cozy comfort--you really have to see (and feel) it for yourself. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Every server we encountered was polished, deeply knowledgeable about the menu, and full of spot-on recommendations. We were especially fortunate to have Richard--a manager of the restaurant personally greet us and set the tone for the evening. From the moment we walked in, his genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel like honored guests rather than just another table. The food was nothing short of spectacular. The Maui ribeye steak--marinated to perfection and cooked exactly as ordered--was tender, juicy, and bursting with that signature sweet-savory island flavor--was one of the best steaks any of us have ever had. Equally impressive was the ahi tuna salad: beautifully seared rare tuna slices over crisp greens, drizzled with just the right amount of citrus-soy vinaigrette, and finished with crunchy wontons and avocado. Light yet completely satisfying, it was the ideal contrast to the richness of the steak. Everything about the evening--the atmosphere, the impeccable service led by Richard, and the flawless execution of dishes like the Maui steak and ahi tuna salad--made our double celebration feel truly special. We left already planning our next visit. J. Alexander's didn't just meet expectations; it exceeded them in every possible way.

We started with an appetizer of BAKED GOAT CHEESE WITH ROLLS. It was really good. Cheese was typed with something like a maranera sauce. It was tasty but I would have preferred to out the tomato sauce. Enjoyed my SIDE SALAD which came with many toppings including bacon. I asked to leave the blue cheese off, which normally comes on it. The RIBS were out of this world!!! Melted off the bone. The BBQ sauce was phenominal. There were a ton of ribs. It is certainly a plate that could be shared. I took half home as leftovers. I selected the MAC AND CHEESE as my side. They have a version with pork, which sounds amazing, but decided it would be too much when paired with ribs. Super creamy and cheesy. Rich but not too rich. The rolls also looked pillowy and buttery so will certainly be on our order next time. I ordered the Mushroom Agnolotti which was an incredibly rich yet truly delightful dish. And I don't like mushrooms. The stuffing is more of a duxelles and is apparently a favorite among their mushroom-hating staff.
