This was from the February 2026 menu. I can't begin to stay enough nice things about Millstone. From the ambiance, the staff, the chef, and of course the food; going and experiencing what they have to offer ranks among the top places in Lexington. With no shortage of well crafted, elegant, and new restaurants out there in Lexington right now; Millstone excels at elevating the familiar to level that Lexington has been waiting patiently to see. Even a solo visit can feel extraordinary at Millstone. On my visit, Amy M was absolutely amazing, her attention to details and perspectives allowed me to fully enjoy the experience from beginning to end. Before getting to the food, I must admit that the space is truly special. To have such a welcoming and warm environment in a historic location with an addition that feels just as natural as the rest of the building is truly grand. This alone helps you feel so at ease in the space right from the beginning. With my meal, I enjoyed both their schoolhouse old fashioned with house-made bitters and their black manhattan. Both are expertly crafted with care and attention to detail. If bourbon is not your thing, there's a plethora of other cocktails, wines, some beers, and even nonalcoholic options which is also a refreshing change that I welcome all restaurants to embrace. As for my meal, first off you will not be disappointed by any of the portions, everything that I had and saw coming out of the kitchen will leave no one who comes to Millstone hungry. Additionally, the menu is both simple and expansive. There's an offering for just about any appetite. For my starter, I was actually stuck on what starter to get because all of the items sound so good!!! I ended up selecting the crab cakes with fried green tomatoes and let me tell you, they are absolutely delicious. The batter on the tomatoes was perfect, the crab delectable, and the remoulade was very well balanced and provided the right about of heat to the dish. For my main, I had the braised short rib. In full transparency this is one of the pricier entree's but it is absolutely worth it! The short rib is done so well it melts in your mouth! The potatoes are creamy and expertly seasoned to pair so well with braising jus, the honey brussel sprouts, and root vegetables. This dish is a tender love letter that you want to keep reading and enjoying time and time again. Halfway through my meal Chef Tyler even came through the dining room to meet with patrons and talk to them!! As it was earlier in the evening, I was so appreciative to see him interacting with the patrons and when he stopped by it was so nice to speak with him and pay compliments to him, Amy, and everything they're doing at Millstone. To end my visit, I enjoyed the brown butter mascarpone cheesecake. Brown butter is already such a wonderful treat, but to have it with a cheesecake was top notch!!! My husband and I came to celebrate our first wedding anniversary at Millstone. The atmosphere is a vibe and the restaurant is absolutely adorable. The ambiance made it feel like a special place to celebrate. That said, there were a few areas that could be improved. The food would have been better if it was seasoned. Way overpriced for the quality given. We were seated at a two-top, and the tables were extremely close together. Unfortunately, we could hear every word of the conversation happening right next to us, which took away from the intimate date-night experience we were hoping for. The drink and bar service was also quite slow. Our dinner ended up taking nearly two hours from start to finish. Overall, the atmosphere was the highlight of our visit, but the seating arrangement and pace of service made the experience less enjoyable than we expected for a special occasion. read more

We were seated and the server came over with waters. Never asked if we wanted drinks. She said she would be right back to go over the menu with us. She didn't return for 30 minutes. Then she asked if we wanted drinks. We also placed our order. She never went over the menu. We did the hummus for a starter. It was bland. The Caesar salad was over dressed. I got the braised short ribs. The short ribs themselves were very good. However there were displayed in a sauce in potatoes. It was way too gloppy all together. My husband had the shrimp and grits. Way too much grits and sauce. Again very gloppy. The building it is in is cool. Nice location. Can't recommend this place for the price. read more

My husband and I went to Millstone to celebrate our anniversary. We booked our reservation on Open Table and requested a table by a window. When we checked in, everyone at the desk wished us a happy anniversary and thanked us for celebrating at Millstone. We even had a little anniversary card waiting on the table. We were seated at table by a big window overlooking the patio, and the windows were open (which I loved)! Our server, Gabby, was absolutely top notch. The cocktails were so good, and Gabby was very knowledgeable about the menu. She answered our questions and made great recommendations. We had the deviled eggs to start, the filet and chicken gnocchi for our entrees, and everything was delicious. The peach cobbler was an excellent way to finish our meal. The ambience is perfect. Looking for an upscale, fine dining experience with a business casual atmosphere, then Millstone is the place! We had our first experience and are looking forward to returning. The service was excellent, attentive but not annoying. The food was delicious, well prepared and the serving sizes are perfect, not supersized, but satisfyingly-sized. I had the chicken gnocchi and my husband had the short ribs. We both throughly enjoyed our meal. They also have an expansive wine list and cocktails. This is a new restaurant in the old building where Dudley's used to be years ago. The food was good. We started with the brussels sprouts and they were delicious. We also had the warm pimento cheese appetizer, which was great and we really loved the potato chips, but the bread was not very good. Apparently, the chef's favorite dish is the Mushroom Agnolotti and I had that with the Shrimp. My friend got the short ribs. We both liked our meals, but they weren't outstanding. Truly incredible addition to the Lexington dining scene. Millstone has done an impressive job with transforming the old Dudley's space into a modern, luxe yet comfortable dining destination. Service was very friendly and the chef was present in the dining room to answer questions. The appetizers looked great and we ran into a friend who spoke good things about the deviled eggs (not for me, but for those of you who love them, get em). The rolls also looked pillowy and buttery so will certainly be on our order next time. I ordered the Mushroom Agnolotti which was an incredibly rich yet truly delightful dish. And I don't like mushrooms. The stuffing is more of a duxelles and is apparently a favorite among their mushroom-hating staff. It's tasty, rich, the pasta toothsome, and the sauce creamy yet not too heavy. This mushroom hater will be back for this dish. My mom had the short rib and had nothing but rave reviews. We will certainly be back. I look forward to eating at the spacious bar in the front. Millstone will certainly be a new favorite for me. read more

I highly suggest not only eating the rolls with butter, but dip a bite in the pimento cheese with the roll, you can thank me later. Wanted to checkout this new spot with a group of friends to celebrate three birthdays. There was a total of 8 of us. Restaurant is tucked away in the historic Dudley Square. Love the building already and walking into Millstone was exciting. I love feeling like I'm in a new city and that's the way I felt. Gorgeous decor and wonderful use of the space. Be aware of their operating hours and our reservation process was smooth. We had a wonderful server, Roo and a trainee Kat. All staff we encountered were very welcoming and attentive. We ordered several tasty appetizers for the table: Brussel sprouts, pimento cheese dip (good, but way too much oil), fries (way better than over cooked fries that came with burger orders), country ham board. Cocktails were potent and delicious. Server also brought out the bourbon used in my Old Fashioned, she also shared the story behind the spirit. Everyone was mostly pleased with their entrees. I ordered Shrimp & Grits. Grits were cheesy and creamy. Sauce was too tomato based for my likely, shrimp were flavorful but on the smaller side for the $36 price point. A good variety of desserts! Apple tart and brown butter cheesecake were my faves. Overall, this is a wonderful addition to the Lexington food scene! The staff and the decor of the restaurant itself was really bice, but the food was overwhelmingly disappointing. Our server, Mary Grace, was very friendly, polite, and helped with whatever we needed. We got the black Manhattan, Old Fashioned, Mill 75, and tried both draft beers at the restaurant for drinks. Cocktails were tasty, but only having two draft beers seemed very limiting. We started with the Millstone rolls because they looked great online, but after trying them, I found that they were no different than the free rolls at Texas Roadhouse, aside from the fact that you would actually have to pay $10 for 5 pieces of bread here. For the entrees, we got the chicken and gnocchi, the salmon, and a couple of us got the ribeye. My biggest issue was how 3 of us ordered medium rare ribeyes, but the cook on the steaks varied from medium to nearly blue (see in photos). Unfortunately, the family member who got the rare/blue steak did not want the cause any issues for staff. Because of this, we never got to see how the staff would handle the situation, however I imagine they would have been very kind and helpful given the prior polite interactions. The steak was also cut in the kitchen prior to being given to us, which makes it more disappointing that the cook on the steaks varied so much. Aside from this, the flavor of the steak was average at best. That being said, I wouldn't order the ribeye again given our experience for the price of $62. The total bill with tip for a table of 5 was nearly $400 with drinks and an appetizer, which is much more than what I would pay again given the taste of the food. Overall, I wouldn't be hard pressed to return to Millstone based on the above experience. read more

Great Sunday night dinner with friends at Millstone. I had recently been there for lunch and thought my husband and friends would enjoy trying it out, too. By the end of the meal, the four of us labeled it our "comeback restaurant" because we are all certain we will be returning. It was a winner in every respect. Yes, the Brussel sprouts were the best any of us had ever eaten. Diners are told this and it is actually true. The deviled egg appetizer was also quite good. Our short ribs, shrimp & grits, salmon, and French dip sandwich were all delicious. Every bite. Food temperatures were as they should be. Then, the cheesecake--truly the best ever. Seriously! We also shared a peach-something for dessert, but the cheesecake was epic. Our waitress, Grace, was efficient and moved our dinner along at the prefect pace--answered questions and had the best smile. We neither felt rushed nor waited too long for service. Before dinner, I read yelp reviews that complained about dishes having too much sauce/liquid--so I ordered sauce on the side--honestly, however, each dish was great and there wasn't any "gloppiness" involved. If anyone else worries about this, just have sauce/jus/gravy/whatever served separately. The restaurant filled up and was busy, so be sure to make a reservation before you come. Easily one of the best new restaurants Lexington has seen in many years. The space is inviting and beautiful, with bold accents and eclectic decor. I dined with a group of friends, and everyone raved about nearly every dish. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts appetizer (topped with house-made bacon, hot honey, blue cheese, and crispy onions) gives Bella Cafe a run for their money, and IYKYK - theirs are phenomenal! I didn't get a picture of them, if that tells you anything; they were savored but devoured. The Warm Beet Salad (paired with goat cheese, balsamic vinegar, and roasted fennel) was simple and divine - each flavor shined. The Crab Cake Sliders were well-portioned and tasty. I chose to upgrade my side to the Dill Slaw, which was a refreshing complement to everything else I'd consumed. Favorites from around the table included the Braised Short Rib, Crispy Chicken (sandwich), Roasted Shallot Mashed Potatoes, and Pimento Corn Muffins (small but mighty). A couple people enjoyed Lychee Martinis while a couple of us were curious enough to try the "Truth or Dare" mocktail, a creative invitation to choose three words describing a flavor profile, from which the bartender will craft a custom drink! I chose "sweet, spicy, indulgent" and my drink was next level - truly. Better than a cocktail. I later quizzed the bartender (Will) and was told it contained (among other things) lime juice, Demerara syrup, and house-made spicy bitters. What a monster edition to Lexington! Beautifully built out and new. My husband and I have eaten here twice , once in the dining room and once in the bar area. The pimento app is unreal... I mean it really should be called something else because it is so much better than any pimento cheese I have ever had. Service was awesome both times. Bar tenders were great. Just thrilled to have such a wonderful place back open in the old Dudley Sq . Fun Fact, this is actually the original first schoolhouse in Lexington. It also has a coffee shop and massage center. We visited Millstone Restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday and had an incredible experience from start to finish. We started with the crab cakes and Brussels sprouts--both were packed with flavor--and paired them with spicy margaritas made with their house-infused jalapeño tequila, which were outstanding. The atmosphere was warm, modern, and lively, with the perfect noise level for easy conversation. For dinner, the chicken and gnocchi and the braised short rib were both excellent, and the bread pudding was the perfect way to end the meal. This restaurant was 13/10!! The food was fantastic and we are going to sleep dreaming about the rolls tonight. Most importantly the service was PHENOMENAL!
