The Sidewalk Deli is located in cute downtown Salisbury. They have indoor and outdoor seating and have an extensive list of sandwiches to choose from. Rueben: Nicely grilled bread, excellent kraut, good corned beef, but the cheese was not melted. They also use Russian dressing, which is actually what an authentic Reuben calls for, but they put too much on--it got a bit messy. Cole Slaw: Nearly perfect, for they know what all too few other places know--a key to outstanding cole slaw is celery seeds. The only problem was that it was slightly too wet. Potato Salad: I ordered the mustard based Southern style, but they gave me the cream based redskin style instead. Whatever. The redskin type was ok. It had perfect texture but was bland--very one note. Lobster Bisque: I am a sucker for lobster bisque. The version here is very good and features very large chunks of lobster, which is unique. Sweet Tea: It was not sweet enough and the tea taste was off. It was so bad I dumped it out and switched to Cherry Coke. It took a long time to get my food, and they weren't that busy. At first I was OK with this, thinking that the sandwich would be very hot and fresh, but as I mentioned, the cheese was not melted. Not even really warmed, it was nearly cold and solid. Part of it was the upcharge for the lobster bisque and the extra side of cole slaw, but my lunch was very pricey. Three and a half stars would be the correct rating, but I am rounding down due to the unmelted cheese, bland potato salad, poor sweet tea, and high price.

I am all for supporting local and small businesses. If you see my reviews, it's mostly small businesses I frequent. Why this place is so loved is beyond me. It's *filthy* and expensive. Ordered was the West Square sandwich and it comes with one side, I got the potato salad. I ordered a bag of chips and two drinks... FIFTEEN DOLLARS, y'all. ONE sandwich, ONE bag of chips and TWO drinks -$15. We sat outside bc it was busy. The table, filthy. Napkin holder, filthy. Floors, filthy. Salt and pepper shakers, filthy. Inside is just as bad. I've been to plenty of outdoor sitting and it's never been like this. The sandwich was good, potato salad was barely a serving... they don't even fill the cup they serve it in and it's lacking flavor, it was straight mustard flavored and that's it. Bag of chips is one of the small ones. Never again.

First I wanted to support local business and second I had never been here due to I'm not always around when it's open. I am so very glad I chose this place today. I explained I had never been here and the guy running the register was super helpful in explaining things. I chose a sandwich from the specials board, the Cuban Sandwich (minus the slaw) and he let me know that the pork loin on the sandwich is made in-house. The food is very affordable and taste amazing. I can't wait to come back and try something different.

Chicken philly, taste was great. Amount they put on the sub a bit questionable. I did bring to their attention was told it was right.

My jaw hurts from chewing on the hard crusty bread from my sandwich…read more I decided to give this place another try after my lackluster first experience. Unfortunately, it fell short, again. None of the sandwiches I've tried have blown me away. Theyre not bad, but not memorable. Limited selection in the prepared foods counter. Service is okay. The people who take your order are friendly but the woman who checked me out kinda wasn't. For an Italian deli (and I'm Italian with high expectations) this is a no from me.

The name captures the aesthetic - old tyme Italian Market. Walk into a small market with a deli…read morecase full of meats, cheeses, antipasto, and arancini. Find another case with a variety of steaks ready to be cut - ribeye and NY strip were just a few examples. The cases have oils and spices to enhance your cooking. At lunchtime on Saturday there was a line to order sandwiches but it moved pretty quickly. The meats, peppers, seasoning, and bread far surpass anything you'd get at a chain sub shop. Half a sandwich filled me up which meant I got to enjoy the rest for lunch the next day. Between cold cuts, paninis, and hot sandwiches there are a variety of sandwich options. Grab one of the tables inside or sit at a table on the sidewalk on a nice day and enjoy a great lunch at Ferrucci's.
