I think the bad reviews must be from people who work at other places in town. Food has been consistently delicious (this has been over ~10 visits in the last year). They use high-quality, fresh toppings, and...yes, this means you will pay more than you would for stuff that comes out of a can or the freezer. I've also never gotten a burnt pizza with scant toppings, like I have several times at the other pizza place in the downtown TR strip. They could probably stand to add one more server per shift, but I've still never waited more than a few minutes for anything. Sidewall is unexpectedly delicious pizza in what feels like the middle of nowhere. The service is super friendly and charming. The atmosphere is unremarkable but that's what I expect from most pizza places and especially from ones in the middle of nowhere. My friends and I shared 4 pizzas: Roasted Mushroom; Spicy Italian on roasted garlic sauce; BYO Pizza with red sauce, little pepperoni, pineapple, goat cheese, & caramelized onions; and Tommy. I'd gladly order any of those four again but I think the winner for me was the Spicy Italian with roasted garlic sauce instead of red sauce. My wife and I tried most of the sodas they had on tap and they were delightful too. And to finish things off we all shared the cinnamon sugar dough bites which were good because of the delicious vanilla glazed they are served with but I think the dough bites could have used a little more cinnamon and sugar in their dough. read more

Terrible customer service experience tonight. My family and I went to grab dessert here. The staff was miscommunicating with each other -- first they told us we needed to go to the bar to order, and then the bar told us that if we wanted to sit and eat, we needed to go back to the hostess stand. That being said, they seated us. About 15-20 minutes went by and no one was coming to serve us. We went to check in with the hostess, and another waitress behind her was saying "why did you seat them? I told you we weren't serving anyone else, no matter if they got seated. We are not going to serve anyone else." This was at 6:45 PM. They close at 9 PM. So what, we were just gonna be left sitting there wasting our time? What was the difference between takeout vs sitting down just to get desert? That being said, after being extremely frustrated, we left. From the decor, it's apparent that this site used to be an automobile repair shop. I wonder if the walls still roll up like a garage door. I was greeted as soon as I entered, and invited to sit anywhere. They have an unusual take on the Greek salad. Spring mix is the base. Roasted red peppers & sundried tomatoes add to the less ordinary ingredients. The kalmata olives are tasty, but the feta tastes more like White Stilton cheese. It's fine if you're busy and a little behind but to have half of the food for the table to come out and then 30 minutes later the second pizza isn't it yet is ridiculous. We spent two hours there and my kids ended up eating their banquet pizzas and cheese pizzas in the car on the way home. Absolutely no recovery from the manager. People came in after us ate and left while our table and another were there forever with forgotten orders. Never again will we visit. This was my birthday pizza from Sidewall. Definitely make sure that you sign up for their birthday club, cuz it's totally worth it! We shared an apple salad and the pizza, and the flavors of both were balanced perfectly. The vegetable pizza changes seasonally, and right now you can get a delicious garlic sauce, blue cheese, squash, and shaved brussel sprouts. As someone who has been coming to sidewall for several years, it's unequivocally the best pizza shop in the upstate. Everything is always consistently good and do not sleep on their seasonal pizzas (peach, pear, potato, etc.). If you're thinking appetizers, the breadsticks are great; they're massive and a classic if there were one. The spinach and artichoke dip is incredible and absolutely worth the price. I definitely find myself going out of my way to visit sidewall whenever I'm in town. This visit we got the acclaimed(?) seasonal pear pizza, subbing out the blue cheese for fresh mozz instead. New pizza to 2023, but definitely not new to us. It's become a regular. The honey drizzle on top of the pizza is a nice touch *chefs kiss* and wish it had more honey. I will say that you can't go wrong with most any of their pizzas. You also have the option to build your own pizza if you're into that. I attached several photos of various pizzas as this Yelp page was lacking photo wise. The ice cream is really good, homemade and the flavors are on a rotating basis so grab some during your visit if you like the current flavor. The only occasional downside are their hours. The wedge salad was super good-- the best I've had! Not usually a wedge salad girl, but everyone raved about it. It was delicious!!! I'm craving it now. The breadsticks were just okay. No garlic, seasoning, cheese etc, and very soft. So a bit flavorless to me. Some love that texture. I like a little more crispy and garlic, like garlic knots. Pepperoni pizza was decent. The guys liked it but nothing over the top. Bbq chicken pizza was good. The bbq sauce on it was a bit too sweet for us. The spicy sauce was good. We got it on the side due to child. It was pretty good for the most part but I'd try another pizza type next time. Ordered a cider and was good. Outside covered seating was nice. Good breeze. If you're in Traveler's Rest this is the place for pizza. Not the usual fare you would find at the neighborhood pizzeria. The Little Pepperoni is packed with small slices that pack a spicy kick. We also tried the Peachy Keen which didn't sound that appealing but was fantastic. A gourmet treat of peach slices, balsamic vinegarette, and feta cheese. A unique blend of sweet and sour. I ordered a 12" gluten free Margherita Pizza from the Travelers Rest location for pickup on a Saturday night. About the only thing good thing I will say about it, was that is ready timely. The dough looked & tasted like it was white bread, the pizza had zero flavor, with very little Basil, and could have used some much fresher mozzarella cheese. Sorely lacking in my opinion. Margherita pizza is one of the simplest pizza's a pizza restaurant can make and they could do a much, much, much better job making it, like adding some fresh sliced tomatoes before they add the few mozzarella cheese slices that they do before they pop it in their oven. There's really no excuse for the lack of flavor. In Greenville for the weekend and was told by a local to try this pizza place. So glad we took the suggestion! Everything was delicious! We loved their all natural sodas. The root beer was very tasty! We went with another couple and went a little overboard and ordered 3 pizzas and an appetizer. We had PLENTY of leftovers. We all had a different favorite. Some of the best pepperoni pizza I think I've ever had! It had a little kick to it. The bacon pizza was very tasty, but glad I had the other options to offset to strong bacon/garlic flavor. We popped in at Sidewall tonight for the first time and overall we really enjoyed it! This pizza has the feel of a fast casual pizza place with the number of unusual toppings it offers and more upscale pizza feel, but it is, in fact, a sit down and be served or take out pizza joint. My favorite toppings were the roasted Brussel sprouts and butternut squash. YUM! The service was great and the staff was very friendly. They have seating indoors and outside, as well as at the bar. The tables are set up almost cafeteria style, so we were seated at a table with another family sitting at the other end. I ordered a starter salad - pear, cranberries, toasted nuts, and blue cheese over a bed of spinach with fig vinaigrette dressing - absolutely delicious. I'd give the salad alone 5 stars. The half size is about a normal size salad. The large is MASSIVE - I love salads, and it's more than I would attempt to eat on my own. The pizzas range in prize from $13 to almost $20, and if you choose a "create your own" pizza, each veggie or extra cheese topping is $1 and meat toppings are $2 on top of the $13 base charge. The pizzas are 14 inches, which I think is a bit of a strange choice. It's too big to eat alone (for me anyway), but not quite enough to split with someone. My daughters (ages 5-10) ate 4 pieces each (1/2 pizza), so I'd assume a full size person would put down a bit more. They do offer a gluten free crust that is made in house - it is the same price, just a 12 inch instead of a 14 inch. I really wanted to love it, but it was just okay - a little bit hard to chew. The toppings and variety of cheese I put on the pizza made it still very enjoyable, and I'm not saying I wouldn't order it again. But as far as gluten free crusts go, I've just had much better. If you are in TR and looking for a more specialized type pizza shop, be sure to stop in - it won't be cheap, but I think you will enjoy it! *Be sure to sign up online at their website and they will send you a free full size pizza on your birthday! This Sidewall location is amazing!!! I've been to the Greenville location several times to dine in/ get takeout but I love how cute and quaint this one is off the main strip. I was worried the food would be different but it was fantastic and on point with the Greenville location, if not better! Andy (our waiter) made the experience 12/10 - extremely attentive, helpful, and always pointed us in the right direction with food choices. A couple of our highlights were the Smoky Salad - the BEST dressing... I think it's a pesto vinaigrette and the toasted walnuts on top make it. Very unique and tasty salad that you must try. The homemade Root Beer - better than any soda around!!! & free refills is always a plus. The Stuffed Spinach Pizza was incredible and our party couldn't figure out how they made it but were so happy it's an option. It's not really a calzone, a lot more thin and still comes in normal pizza slices but still very filling!! If you're a carb lover like me and love garlic, butter, spices.... it's a no brainer. We are here visiting and exploring the TR. The downtown was hopping and so was Sidewall Pizza Company. If you want really good pizza, this is the place to go. The service was very friendly, welcoming and casually paced. They have indoor and outdoor seating. It was very comfortable even on a hot day. We ordered black cherry and vanilla sodas that come with free refills! The breadsticks are AMAZING. One suggestion - order with a side of garlic olive oil to take it up a notch. We ordered two pizzas. You can style these 1/2 and 1/2 with the same sauce base. This is a good way to accommodate everyone's preferences. We stuck to the basics with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. The servings are large so we had leftovers for lunch the next day. We loved the vibe of Sidewall and can't wait to visit again.
