We took the last reservation available at 8:15p on Saturday of our vacation. We were greeted by the smily and welcoming owner as we walked in. The decor did make us feel like we were somewhere in Germany. My partner ordered a beer and we looked over the menu. I decided on the chicken schnitzel and Spatzle. Unfortunately our waiter said they were out of Spatzle. He told us they were out of all sides besides potatoe salad and french fries. My partner attempted to order the pork spatzle and was told they were out of it along with a few other dishes. This was disappointing, we wished our waiter had told us this when we sat down instead of after deciding. Our food was delicious, and if I lived in town I would definitely be back. Hands down the best German restaurant in the area! I'm from Germany and I know authentic food when I see and taste it. The restaurant is located in a cute little cottage, the decorations are lovely, and the whole dining experience makes me feel like I'm back in my grandma's kitchen. Siegfrieds has ice cold German beer on tap and you even get a lemon slice with your schnitzel. That's how you know it's the real deal! Pro tip: drizzle the lemon juice over the schnitzel. The owners and servers are very attentive and welcoming and will make sure all of your needs are met. If you want to try a true delicacy, get the pork knuckle. We lived in Germany for 3 years, the food was extremely good. Is it exactly like you would get in Germany? No. That being said, I believe it is as close as possible, even the beer (Bitburger) is as close as possible. Imported items are never the same. All that being said. I 100% recommend Sigfried's. Had a wonderful German dinner here tonight. The food was delicious. Had the Wiener Schnitzel, a pretzel, the special, and the bratwurst platter with strudel for dessert. All were just as good as what I'd had while in Munich. The chef/owner came out of the kitchen to see how his guests were liking his food. No complaints from anyone. Service was timely. The strudel took a while to come out but it was warmed and paired with ice cream berries and whipped cream just as it should be. The restaurant is small and cozy with a Biergarten in the back. We recently had a large group (around 20). We sat outside (the outside tables do leave a little to be desired) on a busy evening. It was a pleasure to watch how hard the staff worked and how much they cared about getting everything right, including dividing the checks up with most of the women sitting in one area and their partners at the other end of the table. Sitting outside you can appreciate the challenges they face with much of the food being cooked in a food truck and being served inside and out. I read a lot about how authentic the food is and can't really speak to that but it was served warm, cooked properly, seasoned well and delicious! Great food, excellent staff and charming spot. Loved this tiny little German restaurant! Super small and highly recommend reservations. We didn't heed the warning and ended up outside in the courtyard but it was nice and sunny with young folks enjoying big beers. The schnitzel was awesome and light- i had the veal and my hubs had the chicken. Initially i didn't think the portions we're going to be filling but ended up being just right especially after a giant German beer(the small boot is huge). The sides vary and they seem pretty flexible with changes. I had the potato salad and cranberries but also ordered some noodles with the German mushroom gravy and that was the right choice so delicious. Took a piece of black forest cake home and it was light and tasty. I wish they had more than one cake selection but thats no big deal really. Great soup I looked forward to eating at Siegfried's. I had not eaten there before, I do like German food, and for this meal someone else was paying for it. We make our reservation as suggested on their website. It was very loud when we walked in. I didn't expect that but that's ok, diners enjoying their visit. Siegfried's is a house converted into a restaurant, so the layout is small dining rooms, and it was busy. Good thing we made that reservation. It is not a bright shiny place, we had a candle on our table. They may need to catch up on maintenance. Our meal started with some bread with seasoned butter while we waited for our food. Nice start. Next up for me was their Tomaten Chiliesuppe, a thick tomato soup that included bits of bacon. There are onions involved per the menu but it was the bacon that really made this soup stand out for me. It gave the soup a flavor and slightly chewy texture I really liked. For my entrée I had their Nurnberger Bratwurst mit Kartoffelpuree und Sauerkraut, two small bratwurst with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. This was not my first choice, I had anticipated having their crusted NY strip steak, but they were out. Bummer. That did affect how I thought about what I did have, which wasn't that good. I thought the boring mashed potatoes lacked anything besides potato and the sauerkraut too mild. This diner with his American palate likes sauerkraut with more tang but will concede that probably isn't how the Germans make it. As for the small bratwursts, they were fine with the included German mustard. No complaints about the service. It seemed more casual than you would usually find in a table service restaurant, another thing I didn't expect, but it worked. My visit to Siegfried's could have gone better, like not running out of that steak almost 2 hours before they close, but I would be fine going back for another try. read more

I finally tried Sigfried's for dinner...one of the best decisions made and look forward to dining there again soon. First, I'm an American born in Germany and appreciate a great German meal; I've been known to get off an airplane in Germany and head directly to my favorite German restaurants. We decided to eat at Sigfried's last night on our way to a show at Van Wezel. My wife and I decided to split a meal; we ordered the veal Schnitzel with the mushroom sauce -- it came with German potato salad. As sides, I ordered the cucumber salad and red cabbage, topped it off with a Bitburger beer. EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT! We were visiting the nearby Ringling estate when we decided to stop in for an early dinner. As a party of five without a reservation, we were sadly told they were already fully booked for the night. The space is very small inside- only accommodating 7 tables so it wasn't shocking they couldn't take us in. That's when we noticed they had "bar" seating and asked if we could sit there. After hearing a yes we were off to the races. And thank goodness for that because this was a five star meal in every sense of the word. After traveling Germany for a whole summer- this may just be the best German food I've ever heard. Feeling overwhelmed by your spectacular meal and seeking refuge? We've been enjoying Siegfried's since the day they opened the doors in 2019. We went last night, without a reservation, and we were lucky enough to get seated (this was Mid July, but it can still be very busy. Mid January on the other hand would be an issue). We split the Rheinische Brotzeit and some other sides among 3 people. We enjoyed Hugo Spritzs and the Dunkel. Service was fantastic and quick. This eatery remains a household favorite. This food was fresh, hot and delicious. After sitting at a table of shame for not making a reservation someone didn't show up so we were able to move to an actual table which was awesome. So figured crossed if you get a table when you didn't make a reservation. The chicken and pork were very tender and juicy. Spatzle was out of this world, not dried out and had TONS of flavor. The fried potatoes...I am still drooling over them. Get the PO-TAY-TOES! Drools. lol I enjoyed everything but I think it's weird they put carrots in their potato salad. We made reservations for 4:00 when they opened for dinner. We didn't really have to make a reservation but we were given the best table in the Biergarten under the beautiful bower. By the time we left, it was fairly busy and a reservation would have been necessary. We had our dog with us and it was very dog-friendly. The Biergarten had about 6 picnic tables and two tables with real chairs. We had the chicken schnitzel with fried potatoes and cucumber salad. It was one of the best schnitzels that I have ever had and we go to Germany and Austria frequently. We also had the Currywurst with Pommes. Delicious sauce and could compete with any Currywurst in Germany. The spaetzle were also very good. What is a German meal without a piece of Apfelstrudel? Theirs was delicious. I cannot rave enough about this little Downtown Sarasota gem, and their packed reservation book shows you Sarasota agrees (so make sure you grab a reservation and call ahead!). There's not a bad item on the menu, but standout dishes that I tried were: German Schnitzel (get the Jäger sauce!!), their pork hock special on Friday, the currywurst, and the Dusseldorfer. The German schnitzel is loved by all. Battered and light, make sure you get that jager sauce and don't forget the lemon. I love to order mine with the cucumber salad and pan fried potatoes. I believe they also offer chicken and veal schnitzel -- so it is customizable to your meat preferences. I dream of this schnitzel. The pork hock (HAXE!) special on Fridays is worth booking a table for alone. Get under the cute lights in the biergarden and chow down. It was a pork hock that has a crunchy, crispy exterior and a soft, juice meaty center -- served on a bed of mashed potatoes, bacon, and sauerkraut. Yep. Just say yes to it! Another special I love and have no words to communicate it's amazingness: sometimes on Thursdays they have a pork burger on a pretzel bun. I cannot even begin to tell you what is on there, I just know they must lace it with my favorite things because my mouth is watering writing this now. The currywurst is a fun one. I was new to the curry-tomato based sauce and once I tried it, I wanted to drink it from the plate. Oops. They offer up bratwurst or andouille sausage with the fries -- I picked andouille for more spice! 10/10, this is my favorite go-to now. And last but not least, the Dusseldorfer. A NY strip steak encrusted in mustard from their hometown with a side of pan fried potatoes and a appetizer salad so you can trick your stomach into thinking you're being healthy (you are! steak is PROTEIN!) All in all, the food is wonderful and the staff matches that level of excellence. They are shockingly fantastic at remembering faces and names and are super personable. One day they ran out of my favorite Apfelwein and the server came up with my new favorite concoction: their house white blend with some applejuice. The owners are a young German couple that came to Florida to make their mark in this small town. The chef/owner used to visit when he was younger, and you can feel that small business pride & love that is often missed in these days. The quality of everything is super fresh -- I learned they source the freshest ingredients daily so you get the same experience every time. Don't forget to ask about their latest desserts before you leave. Your stomach and sweet tooth will thank you! We had dinner at Siegfried's Restaurant on Feb. 26th - our third meal there and we always leave with big smiles on our faces. The schnitzel and sauerbraten are both excellent, as are the sides and desserts. The staff is warm and engaging and we were so happy to meet and speak with the chef/owner. The restaurant is in one of the cozy-looking cottages on Fruitville Rd and is the perfect setting for this authentic German restaurant.
