I wish I could give this one more than 5 stars. Siegfried's was the "favorite forkful" of our entire trip. Advanced reservations were easy and highly recommended as seating is limited. Our server was courteous and patient (traveling with two young kiddos) and the other team members as well were wonderful. We were looking for something unique in Sarasota and we most definitely found it. Authentic and delicious German food in a rustic and charming dining area. We all agreed it was our favorite meal of the trip. The Schnitzel and Jaeger sauce, Spatzel, and cucumber salad were outstanding! read more

Hallo Deutschland! What a great place for great food and great beer! Three of us stopped in with our little pup, Sadie, for an early dinner. The outdoor area is comfortable and dog friendly; they even brought out a nice bowl of water for Sadie. The picnic tables have large umbrellas to shade from the sun. We lived in Germany for 4 years a LONG time ago, and have visited several times since, and we are big fans of German food. The food is 100% authentic German and delicious. I had the German Schnitzel which was not only awesome, but huge (I had to share)! Great menu of food options and a good number of beers as well. Service was good. Dinner for 3, with several beers came out to a little over $100; wonderfully worth it. We'd certainty be back in again, and we may inquire about them catering a party for us. read more

Outstanding! I can't understand why I haven't reviewed Siegfried's yet - we have been eating here for years and it is always phenomenal! The starters are incredible but the tomato soup is to die for. Fresh ripe tomatoes with bacon and a hint of onion ... delectable. I am pretty sure that my family and I have tried every single thing on the menu but the highlight is and will always remain the haxe. What is this you ask? A ridiculously crispy skinned pork hock that will reaffirm your faith. Only served on Friday - in limited quantities - get there early. It is simply one of the best things I've ever eaten. The pork is juicy and sumptuous. Truly what dreams are made of. The red cabbage - cucumber salad - sauerkraut ... all the sides - get them all. ... and das boot - available in either a 1 or 2 liter size of glorious German offerings. You can get a punch card and get your picture on the wall of fame. My son in law might be up there twice ... Make Siegfried's a stop and put it on rotation you will thank me. read more

I have been here twice. Twice I walked out full and with left overs. The fried pig knuckle (called something more flattering) is amazing. The food seems authentic, service was attentive and both my experience were delightful and delicious. read more

Wow! We stopped by this amazing quaint and delicious place on our way home from the airport and we fell in love! First, YES, make the reservation for a table. We did not know, but we were kindy offered bar style seating by the window or Biergarten( raining so nope)! It was fine. The bread was served with a yummy herb butter. We both ordered the Sauerbraten that came with dumplings and red cabbage. OH MY GERMAN STARS! AMAZING! The dumplings for me were simply heaven and my husband just about licked his plate! The food! Sauerbraten and schnitzel were amazing - haven't seen such genuine delight on the faces of my dinner mates in ages. The red cabbage is soft and perfectly balanced in its favors. We loved our desserts as well. Our server was just the right level of attentiveness and took great care of our party. He alerted us that one dessert was running low so we could decide before they ran out. Can't ask for more. Those who chose local beers were very happy, and the check was extremely reasonable. What an adorable little spot! The service was super friendly and welcoming. We didn't eat dinner there, so I can't speak on much, but we did have the bread and meat appetizer and some beer. The appetizer was good. A couple of small cuts of different meat, cheese, and bread with a small cucumber salad. The mustard is delicious! I had the organic beer from Pinkus. It was really good. I'm going to look for it in bottles! The boyfriend got a small das boot of the Pilsner. Not my favorite beer, and a bit pricey but it was fun to get! We don't live in town, but if we did, I would definitely go back and try them for dinner! It's a small menu though, so don't expect a ton of options. Four of us went there for dinner. We had the antipasto appetizer plate, which was good. Two of us ordered the sauerbraten , while one had leberkäse and the fourth person had a variety plate of sausages. Overall, the food quality was quite good, though unfortunately everything was too salty for our taste.. The apple strudel was excellent as was the black forest cherry cake. Atmosphere is beautiful. definitely get reservations with time. we called day of to get reservations and all they had left for a party of four was at 8pm outside. We got lucky, this ended up working great as we got to enjoy the outside garden in semi cool weather. The food was phenomenal and the pretzel was life changing. i've only ever had mall pretzels and obviously this one is a million times better. I had the Dussedorf steak with fried onions and potatoes. it was so good and unlike anything i've ever tried. the steak was coated on top with a mustard cheese mixture which paired great with the steak. The potatoes were also delicious and they seemed to be cooked in some sort of liquor. Definitely will be back when we are in the area again. almost forgot to mention but try to make the reservations for earliest possible time. restaurant opens at 4pm and closes at 9pm. I ordered the last steak of the night as they had run out. and unfortunately the cake of the day had run out by the time we got to dessert. If you are craving authentic German food, this is your place. The owners are from Düsseldorf area and their chicken schnitzel is phenomenal. In fact, it tasted better than what we tried in Germany. My little kids loved their potato salad so much, we had to order extra. They have some German beer on tap like hefeweizen and bottled ciders. The place is not big so reservation is recommended. We came with a group totaling 6, which can be a challenge for some servers. But our young man was excellent and gave just the right amount of attentiveness while serving us very efficiently. I had the special, which was a huge piece of grilled or baked pork--maybe some joint? It was cooked to perfection. My husband had the sauerbraten, which he declared the best he's had outside Germany. After years without a good German restaurant in town (anyone remember the Old Heidelberg?), i'm really happy that Siegfried's is open for business. We sat outside and enjoyed some good German beer, brought worst, sauerkraut, schnitzel, and more good stuff. The service was very good. They had a few things which were missed but nothing serious. They were friendly, helpful, and very attentive. The owner of the establishment checked on our table several times and after a mistake was made with one of the entrées he insisted on fixing it right away. My wife and I were going to be in Sarasota for the evening so we had found Siegfried's earlier in the day and made reservations. For such a small and unsuspecting place, it was incredibly busy. The staff and owners were all extremely friendly and the ambiance was quaint and refreshing. The beer selection is great and of course I had the Hofbräu Dunkel in Das Boot. Now, let's get to the food. EVERY dish we had was absolutely delicious. The mild wait from the "from scratch" kitchen was well worth it. Last night we ended up with a table outside which was actually perfect because it was a beautiful cool night. Our waiter was extremely attentive and nice, everyone who works there is! The food is excellent. We started with the meat and cheese plate, got the portion for one and it was plenty for two people. I had the bratwurst plate with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. They always give really big portions and everything is made from the food truck they have in the back, so impressive! Ask for a side of yellow mustard, they import it from Germany and it's so freaking good. Dessert was kuchen which rotates, tonight was Black Forest cake. Light and fresh and not too sweet. A perfect huge slice for two people. My bf got the radler (beer with sprite) and I had the schöfferhoffer pomegranate beer, both were delicious. Such a great night. We made reservations for an early evening dinner in the Biergarten. They were waiting for us with cushions on the picnic table benches. The table had real candle lighting and silverware was in. German beer stein. Bread and herb butter came pronto. Beer was really reasonable. I ordered the potato pancakes for an appetizer to share. Very yummy! I had the regular Weiner Schnitzel for my entree while my husband ordered the German Schnitzel (pork). The biggest difference between my dish and his was the thickness. Mine was thin and his was thick. Both were succulent. Our server was hopping between tables at a quick pace, but we never felt rushed. He was super friendly and spent time talking with us after dinner. We saw another guest arrive in a wheelchair and he was easily accommodated in the Biergarten.
