As someone who avoids large theater shows in Chicago due to feeling very anxious in tight crowds, I felt utterly at ease here. They do not allow water and will check bags (but not jacket pockets (*ahem). But otherwise the security scan was not stressful and I breezed in. The walls were decorated for the lion king which made even entering feel exciting. A long escalator leads up to another check point for tickets. The bathroom was small but when I arrived there was only one person ahead of me in line. A small concession stand sold alcohol, coffee, water, and lion king merch. I'd chosen an aisle seat on the floor in row N which was directly on the aisle to leave which made it easy to get to the bathroom at intermission. I had amazing sight lines to the stage but I suspect everyone did because the theater is stepped so well that it's easy to have full view of the entire stage. Lion king itself was breathtaking and stunningly awe-inspiring. I would definitely go back.

Everything felt well thought-out, from the smooth ticketing process to the easy flow of people entering and exiting. The restrooms were clean (always a good sign at a packed theater), and the seating itself was comfortable with great views of the stage. Right before the show starts there's a refreshment area. It's not an extensive menu, but you'll find the essentials - popcorn, chips, juices, and some cocktails. The nice part is you can take your drinks inside the theater with you. There was also a 15-minute intermission during The Lion King, which gave everyone a chance to stretch and grab another drink. If you're in New York and want to experience something truly special .. something that feels deeply embedded in art and culture... GO SEE a Broadway show here. I saw this show many years ago, and I recently got to visit again, this time bringing my family along. I couldn't wait for my kids to see it. It was my son's first Broadway show and he was absolutely mesmerized. I made sure to get Orchestra aisle seats so we could see the animals making their way down to the stage for the Circle of Life and for other parts of the show. We were sitting right where the enormous elephant comes down and it was incredible to see. Speaking of the Circle of Life, it gets me SO emotional every time! I grew up loving The Lion King and this show just does it so much justice. The production value is to die for. The lighting, the scenery, the way they play with perspective. It's just all so amazing. And the singing? And the acting? I can just go on and on. I also love how they added "They Live in You" into this production, along with "Shadowland" and "Endless Night." It is so touching and moving. It's a great show to take your children to. I know it can be pricey, and there never really is a good deal per se, but if you are able to swing it and get tickets, you won't be sorry you did.

I went to see Operation Mincemeat here and it was an enjoyable show. The staff was great and helpful. What really stood out though was the bathroom situation. All the restrooms are in the basement and during intermission the line fo the ladies room was so long. It got so backed up that they had to actually delay the second half of the show. The staff can't control the layout, but feels like the theater design wasn't well thought out prior to it being built. It's clearly an old theater, which I read about and that's pretty cool. So it's a nice experience being in a historic place like this one.

It is the 2nd to last row to the left. Sitting in the far back side of the theater did not take away from the wonderful experience I had. View of the stage was unobstructed and all the songs were so fun. The cast is so talented and I was amazed that this musical was based on a true story. So wild! The only downside is the line for the bathroom, which moves very slowly.

But, like all broadway theatres, there's only one bathroom and it's on the lower level. Our friends we saw the show with used it without issue and made it just as the curtain opened for the second act. Amazing show, beautiful theatre, and an amazing evening all around.

(I love that legend Andre De Shields smiled and made eye contact with me.) Yet another Shubert property, Broadhurst -- named after playwright George Broadhurst -- was built in 1917. The little I saw of the facility wasn't as impressive as other theaters. There's a steep stairway into the basement where the restrooms are. Not adequate for all the theater-goers, though I believe there's a small bathroom on the main floor for those with mobility issues. Staff distributed fans to everyone waiting to enter, which was very cool when used for applause. The "Jellicle Ball" is lively and fun, with spectacular dancing, singing, costumes and makeup. Though I had no interest in the original production of "Cats," my interest in this was piqued when featured on CBS's "Sunday Morning." BTW, if you're eligible to join TDF you might want to look into it to reap deep discounts. If you're visiting from out-of-town, Sardi's, a Broadway institution is directly across the street. Tastes like sour green apple. Front row was a plus because it gives insane detail. I was able to catch micro facial expressions, the costume details, and even the performers sweating. It was super immersive, and I even made eye contact with some of the cast members!! But the seat was also too low and extremely close to take in the full stage. Before the show started, people in the first two rows were already discussing that they can't see the dragon overhead, and they're right. From super up close, you miss the big picture of how the show is fully meant to look. Moments feel fragmented instead of cohesive, and you can't take in everything at once. It felt a bit more like individual moments than one big production. The stage is huge with far sides and a high upper section. So it's better experienced from a more panoramic view a little farther back. But I'm still glad I got to experience Wicked from the front row.
