This was our first time going to see The Lion King Broadway. We have been wanted to watch it for a long time. I decided to just go for it. The prices that I bought were reasonable, though it can be expensive depending where you want to sit. We sat all the way in the back which was okay. The theater wasn't too big or small; it was decent size.. They had securities that you have to pass through when you enter the building. It was organized more or less. The show was amazing. The music, costumes, and stage were beautiful. I bought some merchandise (catalog, magnet, tote bag, and shot glass) -- I love them! I highly recommended for those who want to go see. It is worth watching.
My wife planned the perfect New York trip and worked hard to get excellent seats to the Lion King. The show was brilliant and much better than I expected or anticipated. The cast was excellent, the acting was amazing, and the music was nostalgic and new as there were songs not heard before but blended in perfectly. The seats are comfortable and the entire show was enjoyed from start to finish. 5 stars easily and two thumbs up!
One of my favorite Disney movies as a child was the Lion King. Seeing the broadway show was amazing. The acting and singing is top tier. This is one of the longest running show for good reason. I've been to a few different theaters and seen different broadway shows, but this is my favorite to date. I'm happy to be adding the Lion King playbill to my collection.
This was a great show! The beginning caught me by surprise. But the show was also not what I was expecting. It was interesting, but I'm not sure if I will plan to go again.

"It's the Circle of Standing Ovations!" If you only see one Broadway show in your life, make it The Lion King. From the moment Rafiki belts out the opening Zulu chant, I had full-body chills--and they didn't stop for two hours straight. The costumes? Literal moving art. The stage design? Wildly imaginative. The talent? So powerful, I forgot these weren't actual lions and warthogs talking to each other. The entrance sets the tone: that massive, majestic lion sculpture on the red wall lets you know you're about to enter Pride Rock. The music? Pure magic. Mufasa's presence felt regal, Scar was delightfully evil, and Timon and Pumbaa stole the entire show with their comedy and heart. And don't even get me started on "Circle of Life" -- it hits different when animals are walking through the aisles beside you. The cast got a roaring standing ovation (rightfully so), and honestly, I would've clapped with my feet too if I could. Broadway perfection. Pro tip: Show up early. You'll want time to soak in the atmosphere before the stampede of talent hits you.

The opening scene was magical and I truly felt myself getting emotional when all of the performers came out. They are skilled and beautiful . Every dance and song is precise and wonderfully executed. I loved the original songs performed but I also loved the theatrics . The play sticks to the original story of the lion king with a bit of originality. There were times of laughter , tears and just awe. I definitely have to thank my aunt for this experience . It was unforgettable .
Celebrate my daughter's birthday with Lion King. Ever lasting one of the best show in the business for family. The staging, the musical, the interaction between the performer and the audience make well example to have a Broadway show theatrical experience. Only minor point, the show should prohibited baby under 5 years old as time to time crying on the background spoiled the mood & disrespectful to others. Highly recommended
This is an incredible show, a true classic and I have seen it multiple times in different locations. Could not praise this enough! It is amazing how they mimic the animal movements with the puppetry.

This was a bucket list broadway show that I've always wanted to see. My husband got us tickets as my Christmas gift. He saw it 10 years back with his family and they thought it was ok, but not great. I came in with high expectations, since ive seen certain parts of the show performed live in CA and in NYC and the circle of life performance always moved me. The show was very much in line with the movie down to the same lines, that in the beginning of the show I wondered if I was too old for this show now. The circle of life performance didn't feel as powerful as I've seen it performed elsewhere. There were certain points where the dancers didn't seem to be in line with each other. The second half of the performance, specially the shadowland performance was moving, the actress pearl khwezi gave a powerful performance that made the show. The majority of the cast sounded exactly like the characters in the movie. The theatre is beautiful and majestic and gets you pumped to see the show. This was a bucket list activity that I was glad I was able to check off.
Ahhhhh, The Lion King. A Broadway mainstay, an award winning musical, stage sets that will leave you in awe, and the #1 grossing musical of all time (8+ billion and counting). My favorite character will always be Scar (Gavin Lee). His performance is captivating, ornery, and theatrical genius. The ingenuity that goes into this production is something to behold. How this story encompasses every emotion is spellbinding and leaves you wanting to enjoy it, again and again. read more

The Lion King on Broadway: A three-hour emotional rollercoaster where you'll willingly weep over a man on stilts pretending to be a giraffe. The Highlights: The Opening: "The Circle of Life" starts, an elephant walks past your seat, and you suddenly realize your $300 ticket was actually a donation to the Church of Puppet Majesty. You will bow to the sun. It's not a choice; it's instinct. The Villain: Scar has the vibe of a disgruntled HR manager who's had it with the corporate retreat. He's sassy, he's bitter, and he's the only one dressed for a gothic gala. The Emotional Whiplash: One minute you're mourning a regicide, the next a meerkat is doing a vaudeville routine about eating bugs. It's a lot for the human psyche to process. Pro-Tip: If you sit on the aisle, be prepared for a giant bird to flap in your personal space. If you sit in the back, you'll spend the night wondering if that's a lion or a very athletic rug. Final Verdict: 10/10. It's the most expensive, most beautiful zoo visit you'll ever have where nothing actually smells like a tiger. read more

I'm not the type of person to watch a movie multiple times, but I would pay to come & watch this show again, so that says a lot. First off, I think that every seat is a good seat, which is important to know. Secondly, the show itself is very captivating, to the point that you stop noticing that the animals have handlers & you begin to feel like these folks in amazing costume & makeup aren't even there, because it's all about the animals. The sets are unreal, so the artistic talent is very much there. Besides this being an AMAZING SHOW that'll give you the chills, the manner in which this place is run makes it such a pleasant experience. stadiums & venues that host concerts & other broadway shows have a thing or 2 to learn from whoever is running this place. It is extremely organized & efficient beyond words. The staff is also wonderful (especially richie, who escorted us up in the elevator with our baby). From the folks outside helping to organize the million people trying to get inside to the hosts, bartenders and bathroom attendants. You will buy drinks, get to your seat & go to the restroom & at no point will you wait any longer than 2 minutes for any of these things. BRAVO! I met some people who were repeat attendees & now i know why. Truly an overall lovely experience for the entire family, as we joined with a baby, 5 year old & family members spanning from 30s-70s. There's a lottery you can enter for cheaper tickets. I've been entering that for several months and finally won. This is the largest theater I've ever been to, you. Go up flight of stairs to get to orchestra level. The nostalgia, the songs, the story is all pretty true to the movie. But the real gem and stand out of this musical is the costumes, scenery, puppetry. This is my first Disney musical and there were so many kids around - lots of talking during the show - but just embrace their energy and wonderment! For any musical lover, you must have this on your list. Disney does have its marketing/merchandising down though haha read more

This is one of the handful of shows you almost have to see more than once. There is an explosion of color, texture, and character that is hard to take in at once. A few of the songs have changed since the original recording, but all good editions. The cast is next level. Above and beyond the broadway standard (which ain't easy). Locals: this show brings in a ton of tourist who do not always follow theater etiquette. You're better off paying for orchestra over mezzanine where there is more likely to be children (why?). 10:10 read more

Omg. Best show ever. My husband and I weren't going to see a Broadway show during our trip (I know, what were we thinking) but last minute we decided to go to the ticket office and see what our options were. The lady behind the booth was really nice and made the prices easy. We were staying down the street from the theatre so we arrived maybe 15 mins before the show and it was easy to get in. They weren't really checking bags so I would recommend bringing some snacks or bottles of water if you can. They do have some things on sale but not the best options and definitely over priced. The show itself was incredible. The acting was perfection. The singing was moving. Production was beautiful. The costumes weee breathtaking. The experience was everything I imagined and more. I cried three times. Lol I cannot recommend the show enough. If you're on the fence and wondering if it's worth it, it is! Just do it and you will not regret it. read more
Say what you want about Disney. You can love them or hate them, but you have to admit they know how to put on an amazing show. If you've seen the animated or live action movie you have to see this. It's pretty amazing on Broadway. I've seen a lot of plays and musicals and this is one of the best. Period. The music, the costumes, the dancing, the staging, effects, and the wonderfully talented cast blew us away. We had aisle seats in the orchestra and having the characters walk by us during the opening was so cool. This musical will make you laugh, cry, and rejoice. Definitely one of the great ones on Broadway. Get there early to check out the memorabilia and show items in the lobby. The gift shop is there too, and you're left with the counter staff wishing you a magical day. The whole show and experience blew us away. Magical for sure. read more

Had a chance to see the lion King yesterday my wife has been waiting so long to see this play. We were in the very last row L seat 148 149. I thought the seats would be horrible however I found these seats were fantastic number one no one behind you number two. The aisle is wider than downstairs so you don't even have to get up to let people pass through, as I said, it's a wonderful view if you're going to see the lion King and you are in the very last row in the mezzanine believe me you will appreciate the view. The show is two hours and 30 minutes with the 15 minute intermission the show was OK for me.. I found it to be a little kiddie for me. I did enjoy the music very rhythmic and also the singing was fantastic. So it's a good enough show. If you wanted to take a tourist out to see it or the children there was a row of teenagers in front of me at least three of the six fell asleep, so that tells me a lot about their reaction to it, it been playing so long I guess you're not a New Yorker if you haven't seen it. I'm not much of a Disney fan, but as the saying goes different strokes for different folks. read more
My Husband and I had been wanting to see this for the longest. The flow getting in was smooth. We arrived around 7:20 for the 8pm show. We went to the gift shop where they had a variety of charming things. We bought alcohol ( cheap liquor and over priced) and proceeded to our seats. We had orchestra Seats in the center so we were able to appreciate the production from all angles. The show started at 8:05pm and it was nice to see cast members dancing down the aisles. All very friendly and outstanding. The costumes all were super nice and colorful. I felt at times some of the scenes dragged and I became bored. There were about 3-4 scenes that were my favorite. When Mufasa's spirit comes to life was amazing and gave me the Wow factor. I highly recommend this play but I wouldn't go see it again. It had underwhelming parts. At times I felt there was a lot going on but then again I was also dancing in my chair. I give it mixed teview. read more
Lion King was absolutely beautiful!! From waiting in line (which was actually a breeze considering we had to show our vac cards and IDs--definitely show up early) to getting in our seats, the process was actually stunning. After checking in, you go up the escalators and are greeted with massive windows overlooking Times Square below. The walls, carpet, and lighting are decorated to match the theme and there's a giant wooden Mufasa mask that hangs over the escalators. There are 4 gift shops and 2 bars which cut down lines tremendously. As for the show itself, they added a few new songs to the original movie soundtrack and more dialogue that was not in the original Lion King movie, so it's not a play by play from the movie you dearly remember from childhood. The costume design and puppetry were phenomenal and truly the best part of the play. Being in the very front, I was able to see the gears, wires, stilts, etc which made it more interesting. Of course, if you prefer to not see the magic behind the costume design, I suggest sitting back a bit. However, I can't say it enough...the costume design is entirely worth it to see this play! As for the acting and singing, everyone was amazing. Older Simba wasn't as impressive and did sing off note a few times and left his song with a lack of emotion which threw me off a bit. I understand Broadway is a live production and this can and will happen. The rest of the cast were absolutely powerful with their vocals including the two child actors playing Simba and Nala. Overall, I was stunned with the songs and range from the cast. Rafiki and Scar were definitely my favorites and Timon and Pumbaa eerily sounded like their counterparts (impressive)! This was honestly a special play for me as I used to watch the Lion King over and over and over again as a child. I am positive that I've seen the original movie well over 30 times. The moment the curtains raised, I was in tears. It was a magical experience and I'm so grateful to have been able to see it! read more

I'll give this a 3.5 stars because while the show is good with amazing costumes, the audience here is annoying as heck. I feel like only kids 10 and over should be allowed at shows because the little kids would just be yelling out or talking during the show and it was annoying. Also there were two grown women having conversations the whole time behind me. Shut up! read more

The Lion King was a major movie when I was younger. I have wanted to see this musical since it opened 25 years ago and every time I had an opportunity, something would come up. Last night my partner and I finally got the chance to see where Disney meets Broadway. Thank goodness for NYC Broadway Week where one can get 2 tickets for the price of 1 and believe me was pricey where we were sitting. Our seats were located Orchestra Row P 113-114 and had an ah-mazing view of the stage. It's not "just a remake" of the animated film (or the new cgi/ live action-like), there's something undeniably human that comes with the gifted actors and musicians as this stage performance was a true work of art from the costumes, set, special effects, dance, stage movements, dialogues, songs and to the music was PERFECT! We can highly recommended for all ages. read more

This more modern theatre is great! There's not a bad seat in the house. It feels very spacious. Plenty of concessions and room to stand in line or wait for the restroom. Big windows in lobby overlook Times Square. Oh, and the show- spectacular!!! read more
