Absolutely rude service EVERY single time I get a call from her (Connie is wonderful, however).Today was the last straw - I asked her to relay a message to Dr. Gohn after continued treatment of an eye condition hasn't improved, despite use of the strongest steroid they could give for 2 months straight, and she took it personally, hanging up the call on me, telling me to use artificial tears for new onset of pain and swelling to the eye (ridiculous???). Doctor doesn't take complaints seriously either, brushing off possibilities like they're a spec of dust on a kitchen counter, mind you, without further explanation, testing, or diagnosis of why those possibilities can be ruled out. What kind of doctor diagnoses patients without further consideration of other differential diagnoses? Skip this place and find a practice that cares about you rather than the money you can provide them. read more

You will not see Dr. Khanani in this office only his associates who are not friendly. You will be herded in and out like a cow. No kind words, no education, no guidance. I was diagnosed with macular degeneration and they treat it like a hangnail. Im herded through there and the dr or student Dr I'm not sure which says the same thing every single time "are you taking your vitamins?" I notice no one from that office ever comments on the bad reviews. I don't care what a great accomplished Dr he is because I have only seen him one time in two years. 3 June is the date I was first admitted under Emergency conditions, my optometrist diagnosed my problem left eye as a torn Retina that needed immediate medical attention. I was admitted that same day in the p.m. Dr Gregory Gahn diagnosed the problem & told me my alternative which I readily agreed in preference to going blind. 24 June I was examined by Dr Gahn who determined Emergency Vitrectomy with Oil & I was scheduled for surgery the next day. 25 Jun Dr Khanani performed the surgery. At this time, I'm scheduled for followup surgery to remove the oil & insert a saline solution on 5 November which will be performed by Dr Khanani & assisted by Dr Gahn. Every employee/staff person that I dealt with at Sierra Eye Associates has been helpful, courteous, & respectful. I have not seen or notice any person in the waiting room having any harsh conversations with any staff person. I've always been admitted to see the doctors at my scheduled appointment time. I sincerely believe I've been getting the BEST Medical care by the BEST & most skilled doctors here in Reno - I highly recommend Sierra Eye Associates if you want professional, skilled, Medical treatment for your Eye condition. read more

Sierra Eye Associates - Doctor K - Optometrists Near Me - Reno, Nevada

I obtained a prescription for glasses from this facility. I didn't have the money to get new glasses at that time, but I since went and got the Rx filled. To do so took quite a bit of effort, as the tech had dated my Rx 2020. While at Costco, we called to have it corrected. I could NOT get a human to answer the phone until I pretended that I was calling to make a payment. After about 45", I was able to get the Rx filled after they agreed to correct it....but I had to repeatedly explain that their date was wrong as I had only been to their office ONCE. I can't use the glasses without getting sick to my stomach. When I had Costco check the Rx, it showed that my vision had miraculously improved all by itself. Clearly, not the case. They suggested I go back to SEA and get the Rx re-done correctly. I attempted to do so. After standing at the counter for 3-4 minutes and being ignored by the woman behind the counter, I was finally told someone would be with me shortly. I explained the situation to the next girl who then told me I would need to pay for another exam, even if the Rx was deemed incorrect. She then handed me a card and told me to call in to make an appointment. ??? I was in their office. I told her I didn't agree that it was the best method to obtain an appointment as no one answered their phone. She insisted and further told me that I could expect to be put off until August. In the meantime, I only had so much time to get the Rx fixed with Costco without an additional charge from them. They, Costco, however said they could offer me some leniency given the situation with SEA. Horrible customer service. I don't know if the doctor I saw would override the clerks decision of an additional charge, and neither did she, as she was too lazy to get up and go ask someone who had some authority. Too many other choices in town to put up with such poor customer service! read more

Dr. Gamet is completely professional yet warm and friendly. The office staff are all friendly and professional. My husband and I receive top notch eye care. The location of the office has changed from Ryland to Reno Corporate. The wait time at Ryland used to be very long. At the new office, with only one doctor, the wait time is never longer than five minutes. Once a patient is taken in, the whole process is usually under a half hour. In a minor emergency (my husband broke his glasses and needed a new prescription) they were able to schedule him for a visit within five days. Dr. Gamet performed my cataract surgery to my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend this practice. read more

I have been going to this particular Opthamologist's office for almost 45 years! In fact, their phone number remains the same! Originally I took my young son here when he was a baby with several surgeries on the roster. Excellent care! I have since become the patient for many years now. I have been seen by Dr Cohen. I have always been confident in the quality of care and have Dr Cohen to thank for giving me back my sight in my left eye. I had a stroke in my eye, lost most of my vision instantly. This Dr didn't give up and actually got my vision back! He said in twelve years, the procedure he used had only worked twice, and I am one of those two!! Absolutely highly recommend! read more

I am updating my review. I gave them one star previously because they wouldn't return my phone calls for about six months which meant I couldn't get my basic life-saving medication for my disability. It was extremely frustrating and obviously they were unable to offer even the most baseline level of care in an emergency. Since then, I have been several more times for my routine eye check ups, and I have to say that it was about as easy and pleasant as an eye check up can be when you're getting your eyes dilated . That is to say it was not hard to make an appointment. They got me in quick and everyone was very cordial and nice and I got out of there quick too. So I'm hoping that they have really improved their service overall certainly seems like it ! read more

(this is for the location at 950 Ryland St. in Reno) The entire process from the making the appointment to checking out was TERRIBLE. I had an ophthalmologist who recently retired and her office recommended this place and said they would have access to our charts, so it seemed like a logical choice. I looked up reviews of doctors and made an appointment with Dr. Khanani months in advance. I was told the appointment would take 2-3 hours, which I understood due to the dilation process. 3 days before the appointment I was called and told the doc could not make that time, so we changed the time of the appointment to suit his schedule. That process took 3 phone calls on my part. After I checked in, I was asked to wait in my car (d/t Covid) and then sat in my car for a full hour until they called me. They never found my chart. Such inefficiency! I had a few tests done before I was put in the exam office, where a doctor named (Ali ?) proceeded to examine me and give advice. When I asked about seeing Dr. Khanani, she said I could see him, but "I would have to wait a long time". How rude. I had made an appointment with a specific doctor and even changed the time due to his schedule, still waited a long time, and got no explanation or apology as to why someone else stepped in. After my exam with dilation, no one said a word to me about wearing sunglasses or offered me those temporary sunglasses that most places offer. Good thing I was already familiar with the drill. When I went to check out, I was guided to a desk where I waited and it turned out it was the wrong line, so I had to go wait in another line. Once I made my follow-up appointment, supposedly with Dr. Khanani (but who knows), I was told again to expect a 3-hour appointment (for a follow-up?). When I asked if that was the case for a follow-up, the receptionist said "that's the way it is here". The place was overcrowded like a zoo (so much for social distancing) and most of the staff was unfriendly and seemed stressed out. It appears they have bitten off more than they can chew. It was a very unpleasant experience and I hope to find another place that treats their patients with respect and kindness. This may be one of the least competent offices I've had to experience. Multiple calls and still no procedure scheduled. I was literally transferred one day 6 times. You had my referral since August, I call to make an appointment for a procedure and am told they have to get some info from the doctor. I call back in October and no one has a clue. Even though the referral is still sitting there. They schedule my procedure for December.. low and behold,?I just called to confirm the details and no procedure scheduled. I wish I could articulate the lack of professionalism and care you hear in the staff. Call for yourself.. you'll see I'm not lying. This is the least competent office that I've ever had the displeasure to experience. I incurred a head injury on 3/17/23 that left me with double/panel vision, dizziness, balance, cognitive issues, etc.. and subsequently landed me in Renown Hospital's ER. After spending a couple of weeks in ICU at Renown Hospital (Mill St. Reno), I was then released/discharged to the Alpine Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (Plumas St. Reno), who then referred me (on 3/30/23) to Sierra Eye Associates Optomologist-Dr Pauline Hong. This office subsequently rescheduled me three consecutive times, the final time was for 7/5/23 = 105 days after discharging from Renown and admitted into Alpine Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Anyway, after being examined on 7/5/23 by Dr Pauline Hong, she referred me to a colleague in the same Sierra Eye Associates office, Retina Specialist Dr Arshad Khanani. After numerous calls (since 7/5/23 to 8/14/23 = 40 days) requesting the aforementioned referral appointment from the Optomologist-Dr Hong to the Retina Specialist-Dr Arshad Khanani (located in the same Sierra Eye Associates office building), as of today the result is that I still have not received a scheduled referral. To reiterate, as of today 8/14/23 = 140 days after my original accident/injury, I'm still suffering from double/panel vision, dizziness, balance, cognitive issues, etc. I now wear an eye patch over my left eye which along with prescribed meds for dizziness act as a "poor man's" preventative measure, as I can see 20/20 out of my right eye without panel/double vision. I wish I could verbalize the total lack of professionalism and lack of caring that you will receive from the staff. I have never had so much trouble getting a prescription filled. The ophthalmologist prescribed medication. Said it would be called into the pharmacy for pick-up. This was Thursday about 1:30 p.m. Went to the pharmacy that evening, no prescription. It is after hours. Call Friday morning at 8:15 am. No problem we will have that called in for you. Called the pharmacy at 10:30 a.m., no prescription. Called at 1:00 p.m., no prescription. Called back to the office. They are closed for the weekend. Left a message with the answering service. Called Monday morning at about 10:00 a.m. Told they had received my message from the answering service. Someone would take care of it. Called the pharmacy, no prescription. Called the office back at 2:00 p.m. The gentleman said he talked to one of the assistants and they would be sure it got done. Nothing. My husband went to the office at 3:45 p.m. because as you guessed it, nothing was at the pharmacy. He was told by the assistant she would take care of it. He went to the pharmacy. You guessed it. Nothing. It is now 5:00 p.m. Nothing. Now have to wait until Tuesday.... stay tuned.... The prescription is supposed to help with the swelling and itchy eye issue I am experiencing. So the longer this goes on the longer the irritation and frustration. read more

Worst patient service I've experienced and I work in the medical field. With that said, I understand long wait times due to unforeseen emergencies, but communication goes a long way. There's no reason anyone should wait in an exam room for an hour or more without contact with a physician or an employee. While in the exam room, I heard the employee's talking and laughing and not one of them came in to explain why the wait was so long or reassured us that the doctor would be with us soon. Additionally, the checkout process was ridiculous. There was plenty of staff behind the reception desk and not one would check us out. Their customer service was also lacking. I was with my child for this appointment, and I feel for anyone, especially the elderly, that go to this office expecting a good experience. I will not be returning to this practice for myself or my children. read more

On Monday July 18th I called to make an appointment with Dr. Kevin Gamett. I had to leave a message with Miranda which stated I would receive a call back in 24 to 48 hours. In my message I stated that my right eye was irritated , red, I had pain behind my right eye and that my vision had changed. I had a stroke about 4 years so the vision change was concerning. By Thursday the 21st I had not heard back, so left another message with Gina. I got a call back on Friday afternoon, I didn't get her name because i was at another appointment. She said she talked to the doctor and his recommendation was to put a hot compress over my eye. Really? In all fairness she did say if that didn't help, to call back; but I am going to find another eye doctor after all this run around. Front desk was ok. I could do with out the attitude. A very kind young lady who helped me get some test done, I believe she told me her name was Angie, was the sweetest. The room was very small, but I felt more bad for her since it was so hot in that room, and the little fan off in the corner barely helped, especially with the door closed. She made my whole appointment worthwhile. Aside from that, this has to be the worse place ever. My eyes were being dilated and I was put into a dark room while I waited and I have never been somewhere where the doctor disrespects their staff in front of you, or, I believe was the manager, was belittling her staff. The last time they did it the rescheduled to Thanksgiving eve. They called 3 days before and confirmed, when I went the informed me that someone should have called and rescheduled. I told them when they got their act together to call an make an appointment they could keep. It's Jan 4, and still no call. I called and asked to speak to a manager. They informed me that there was no manager available. After expressing dissatisfaction, and giving my date of birth and neam and everything, they put over to someone else who started asking all the same questions. I'm over it. I was drugged with a date drug. When I woke up the next morning I felt very drowsy and drugged. Then all sudden I had people talking to me and want me to evil things for them. I didn't know what to do. I bought new shoes new socks new pants new shirt left all my old stuff in the store. They didn't go away. I shaved my head shaved my beard my mustache all my facial hair. The group of people did not go away. They were doing some kind of skits good caught bad cop with me. I took my fingernail rub across my eye and pulled up part of the eye contact lens. I recently had to have cataract surgery on both eyes. Dr Stanko did a very complete evaluation, made his recommendations and scheduled me for surgery within 6 weeks of the initial appointment. Yes, it is an extremely busy office with a lot of patients, but the staff does everything it can to accommodate anyone who needs care. My vision was at the point that getting a renewal on my driver's license was questionable if I didn't follow thru with surgery. I have to say the surgery experience was quick, efficient and designed to maximise the amount of patients cared for. This practice is busy because of the quality of care and the number of people needing this service. Office hours are listed as beginning at 8am, however, patients are rolling in by 7am every time I have been there. I appreciate that for the 1st time in over 60 years I will be able to see normally without glasses except for drugstore reading glasses for computer and small type. Dr Stanko calmly goes from patient to patient and spends the time he needs to get you thru the process without appearing rushed or impatient. Having eye surgery is stressful. I appreciate the care I have received and will recommend this practice to everyone with confidence. Yes, they are busy, yes it takes time to get an appointment but it is because they are good at providing the solution to the problems you might be experiencing. read more

My primary care provider put in a referral to an opthalmologist on June 17. A few days later, I checked with the Renown Referral Dept and was informed that they put in a referral to Sierra Eye Associates. A few days later, I called Sierra Eye Associates and they said they had not yet received the referral, which was a lie. I called the again on June 29 and had to leave a voice message. On June 30, they called back, said that they had indeed received the referral, but hadn't gotten around to assigning me to a physician yet. It is now July 14, almost a month since the referral was made, and I still have heard nothing from this office. They DO NOT WANT NEW PATIENTS. They obviously have too large a patient volume. I suggest avoiding this office altogether. read more

If you thoroughly enjoy hurrying up and waiting, then this is the perfect place for you. 22 minutes worth of actually being examined will take a minimum of 3 hours of your life you will never be able to get back. And the physicians/staff talk so fast...you can tell they say the same thing over and over so many times a day. When I asked for a reiteration of what was said, the response was agitated and gruff. It appears people have been complaining about this to the physicians here for years without them caring enough to do something about it. Which leads me to deduce, their main concern is being a money machine. People are sardine canned in, going through a production line and the wait is due to packing in as many billable services as possible. The follow-ups are ridiculous. It's so sad because from what I've googled, the physicians are actually accredited...they just don't care about the patients experience here. read more

I was referred to Dr. Khanani during a Uveitis issue and although he is very knowledgeable and his staff is friendly, his scheduling practices are what is preventing a higher rating. The first time I saw him they plugged me in as an emergency appointment. I waited 3 hours. The second time, I had an advanced appointment. I waited 2 hours to see the doctor. My appointment was at 8am and I didn't see him until 10am. I was supposed to have a Follow up appointment in two weeks but I can't get in for 3 weeks because the schedule is so booked. There has to be a better solution for your patients that require emergency care. read more
