So hear me out... Sierra Grille tastes just fine to us locals, but if you're just passing through Norwalk and you are expecting some great Mexican food, it's gonna be a no from me dawg. I personally like SG, but it's very hit or miss. When the food is fresh, it's good. But when it's not, it's actually gross and stale. I literally will order and tell them to only give me what has just been cooked, which I think is quite sad. It's no wonder business has drastically slowed down. Sierra Grille has been a staple for us since 1999! I remember coming here as a kid and eating amazing cheese quesadillas. My mom absolutely loves their shrimp soft tacos and their shrimp quesadillas (it's not on the menu, but if you ask they'll make it!). Lately, my dad and I have been ordering their veggie burritos with refried beans, rice, peppers and onions, and pico de gallo. Everything on their menu tastes well seasoned and fresh. The food was good and definitely fresh. Plus this place had a salsa bar with extra fixins which was pretty cool too. This restaurant was nice with plenty of seating both inside and out. It didn't have a ton of decor and the staff wasn't very welcoming. They did their job very well and efficiently but not very personable and right when it was time to pay I forgot to order an extra side and to back out of the transaction seemed like the worlds biggest inconvenience for the cashier. My wife and I both got a meal and 1 drink for 35 dollars. Like I said earlier the ingredients were definitely fresh but the portions weren't very hearty and definitely not a bang for your buck. This place is nice, clean and spacious. With that said the food is not good. As a Mexican I'm lowkey insulted this is even considered Mexican food. The food has No flavor. I have tried this spot a couple of times since its very close to home. I have tried the chicken and carne asada burritos as well as the enchiladas. The Salsas don't have salt which is what salsas are supposed to have!!! If you enjoy good Mexican food this place might not be for you. I think this spot is nice, it has plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor. In my opinion, it is way overpriced for small portions. I left full and satisfied but the bowl was much smaller than I expected. My husbands Mexican pizza was also very small and our total was about $35 dollars. The location is a bit tricky as it's on a side road a bit behind a larger store but once found we were in good shape plenty of parking. Can't say enough about this place! Great and I mean GREAT food. I had a chicken burrito and it was heavy as heck lots of chicken not just rice and beans. Came with chips and salsa bar...salsas are delicious and house made. Place was spotless and service was quick. The price is more than fair...this place blows away chains like Chipolte, Quboda and Salsa Fresca. It has an authentic feel to it as well. Next time I'm in the area I'll try the quesadilla. There are reviews from people who say nothing but good things and praises but there's only 3 stars. Two words - Salsa bar! I love how they have a free salsa bar so that you can pick and choose your own. I'm a sauce fanatic so this makes me super happy. I'm not a review person usually but the effort that these guys/gals put forward deserves recognition. Been coming here for years because it's local. I'm lucky it's nearby because it's much more. Even in a pandemic, the staff is warm, friendly, helpful, and always happy to see you (even wearing a mask). Facility is always clean, efficiently run, they are speedy, and the food is fresh and made to order. Always have fun daily specials, and although basic choices, it's very consistent. Lastly, when you mistakenly leave your debit card behind, the manager, (gentleman in the white shirt), will be there waiting by the door with card in hand when you return. Legit flavor and an even more legit salsa bar. I'm talking SoCal legit. Now they may not offer a California or even a Carnitas burrito, but what they do put out is delicious. I've had all versions of their tacos and their nachos. The tacos are delicious and they don't skimp on the meat. My only suggestion would be to double up on the shell. The single shell cannot hold all the meat and toppings. The nachos are piled high with house-fried chips. Again, the salsa bar is a must when adding flavor to this monster.
