I…read moreresided in a 1-bedroom unit, was waitlisted for a 2-bedroom, and then eventually moved into one about four years ago. The pool is nice, the laundry is not too busy on certain days (you just have to plan well,) and it's near Honolulu Ave, which has tons of restaurants and shops. You could walk down (only about half a mile), but that walk back up can be killer on a hot day. Maintenance has always been kind and responsive - Jeff, from my first few years, and Pablo, the last few. They are great guys. The things I didn't like include: being right next to the freeway (while convenient, it can be noisy and very dusty), how dusty my units got no matter how much I cleaned, and having to share laundry. In addition, the prep for the 2-bedroom was shoddy at best: the cabinet on the bathroom wall, for example, came off and so did the shower rod, which was replaced by a plastic one held up by tension. I was told they'd order a more permanent replacement, but over a year later, I still had the plastic one, which kept falling off whenever you moved the shower curtain the wrong way. My mom had to tape it together. Management can be hit or miss, and I must say, the rating I give now is a result of the move-out process. If I had to separate the experience of living here and the experience of leaving, I'd probably say 4 stars for the former and 2 for the latter. I rarely received responses about certain points of the move-out process despite emailing numerous times and calling and leaving a message. When I was trying to get a reference for my new place, management NEVER responded to my current manager despite her leaving numerous messages and emails. I was the one who had to call and was told that the new manager had to send a form. I'm not sure why Hillside management couldn't have just said that instead of ignoring the messages. I almost lost my new place because management here was so unresponsive. I emailed about the move-out walkthrough and my availability for that and was told they'd get back to me to set up a time by 5pm one day. Never got back to me. I was never told my prorated rent amount, and when I checked my Resident app, the full month's rent was deducted, which was rejected because I didn't have that amount in the account (having used it for a security deposit). I logged into my account again and saw the amount of about $380, which, doing my own calculation for proration (rent/30 days x # of days occupied), was about right, so I dropped off a check on my last day at the complex. The email I received the next day was that my rent amount "bounced" - which was the autopay of the full amount - and that I needed to pay $505. Using the formula for proration, I deduced that that amount was the prorated amount for an extra day of occupation + a $50 late fee. I was asked for a cashier's check. I paid that amount because I didn't want the rent to be even later. I drove there to drop it off and was there right before 5pm, knocked, but there was no answer - though I did see the light on. I have since asked for how the amount I paid was actually calculated because that was never made transparent to me. I take issue with the late fee, having never been informed of what the rent owed was. I was signed up for autopay, but on the first of the month the autopay was still set to the full amount, which they tried to take out. It absolutely disappointed, frustrated, and upset me to be completely dismissed as a resident - and a good one at that - for over ten years when I was leaving. The move-out process was already so very stressful, and the only one who helped with it was Pablo. I understand that maybe they didn't need to do the pre-move out inspection because they were going to replace everything anyway, but the complete lack of communication was confusing, especially about the prorated rent and the reference. I'll reach out to corporate to try to get an answer, but we'll see. Update: I was provided with an answer. I was charged an insufficient funds fee, plus the late fee. I wonder what the legality is of charging the NSF fee when they tried to take out the full month's rent amount, which I have a record of from my bank, instead of the prorated amount. So if you're moving out, be sure to cancel the autopay feature.

I felt safe, I loved my apartment and the grounds were kept up really well. Maintenance was fast and efficient with the couple of minor problems that did arise, for example, a clogged bathroom sink. Never had a major issue here. The only reason I left was because I relocated to another state. In my opinion, it's one of the best complexes in the LA area and that's largely thanks to Detrice!

Whether their related to each other or not, you hear the kids enjoying themselves and having the time of their childhood. They're also very respectful because towards the evening, they start quieting down and going home. In terms of your neighbours, they're very cordial. They're very peaceful and very nice. For example, if your package happens to get delivered to their door; they either put it back in the mailbox or delivery it to your own door. In terms of amenities, this is a great area. You are literally right off the 10 freeway. There is a gasoline station right across the apartment complex. Groceries, shopping malls, etc; they're literally 5-10 minutes away. So, there's no need to go long distances to go anywhere. In fact, there are two supermarkets walking distance from this apartment complex. Lastly, you're going to love Sylvia. She's the manage of the complex. She's straight forward and reachable during office and emergency hours. So, if you needed anything; she's a text/phone call away. Overall, highly recommend this place.

They have both been so kind, helpful, and responsive during my time here. Romel helped with my move-in and I wish he could come work at the leasing office of my new apartment. Carol has been so sweet and always prompt with responding to any general resident questions/issues that came up over time. Both of them are easy to talk to, followed up when they said they would and always treat the residents respectfully. It makes a HUGE difference when leasing staff are approachable and actually willing to help instead of making things more complicated. Pro: Close to transportation (metro and bus), using rideshare is fairly easy because the parking garage has decent amount of guest parking (so you don't need to load into a car on the side walk or outside). Registering digital permits for guest parking was easy. You have a shopping plaza in front of the apartment complex and various grocery stores East and West of the building. You have Kaiser next door and a gas station. If you are an older adult, getting groceries delivered is easily done (you can open the doors to enter the lobby via a resident specific phone code). ** Maintenance team has changed over the years but shout out to Jared for being friendly, easy to communicate with, and prompt at answering last minute questions. Jared is a real lifesaver and I wish we had more people like him. Management can be hit or miss. I mostly communicated with Ben. Ben is chill. Very straightforward person and he is always quick to answer emails. The other managers are not as prompt. Cons: There are constant random elevator breakdowns and fire alarms going off. There have been a couple of times that the fire alarm will go off during the middle of the night. The unit I was in particularly didn't have the best ventilation so, if I was cooking any thing longer than 15 minutes, the alarm would go off. Same thing with air frying. There was also various leaks that would occur above the kitchen area (I think lots of pipes run through that area). The A/C would sometimes leak so water would pour out for the ceiling vent in one of the bathrooms. Safety: Because you are by the METRO, you are going to run into some 'interesting' people. Mostly in the early mornings or evenings. Sometimes the garage gate gets stuck in the back of the building so, it made me nervous when the security person was still making his way from patrolling the other side of the building (the security guy is very nice to residents though). If you have a dog, please take your fur kid closer to the next-door's theater's grassy patch. Whatever pesticide that the BELL uses causes a ton of animals to get sick (ex: dead mice/ mantises/ birds). Overall, if the rent increases weren't so exponentially high and some of the fees could be opted out, I would have stayed.

This is about the actual management/enforcement responsibilities of BELL PARTNERS. As of the last 1.5 years, Bell Management has gone DOWNHILL (e.g. main elevator - the only one accessible from the lobby to visitors and deliveries was basically down for MONTHS)! Here is an actual email that I sent to our managers: *START. I want to start by saying we have enjoyed living here and have always found the management and maintenance really helpful. Things are never perfect and that is to be expected. However, there have been a few big misses that are frustrating and that I feel it is only right to share with you directly. First, we were notified in writing about a very specific schedule for our carpet cleaning. I dutifully brought in my outside mat on Thursday to prepare for Friday. Nothing happened. No communication happened, either. Then Monday, I was home on my day off and noticed the carpet cleaner on our floor. I also noticed that nobody had removed their outside items because we were told this was happening last Friday. If the schedule had changed, this could have easily been communicated in an email. This is not too much to ask. Secondly, the fire alarm testing is out of control. We were communicated to multiple times about the inspectors coming into our apartments. We were not told that on multiple mornings, the fire alarms would go off for 10-15 min. or longer! This has not happened since I have lived here (since 2021). This is incredibly disruptive to those of us who work remotely and who have pets. I have had to cancel scheduled meetings. This level of disruption absolutely should have been communicated so we could take action if necessary for our personal situation (like work somewhere else). Also, how are we to know if this is a real fire emergency or not? Now you've set up a situation where everyone will just assume it is a drill (when maybe it is real). This has been horribly mismanaged. Really, really, poor communication! If there actually is a real emergency, due to this lack of communication, I would suspect your actions could place the company in a huge liability situation. Thirdly, The situation with the lobby elevator is frustrating. I realize Bell does not want to pay for a permanent fix, but I would suspect that there are contractual obligations that management has for tenant rights. I will be contacting the City of Pasadena and exploring how to file a formal complaint. This has gone beyond just inconvenience to really a breach of the commitments made by management. Also, it appears the Trash vendor did not pick up on Sunday - FYI. If they did, it was not a normal schedule and everyone had their trash sitting out all night. I puy my recycling out about 6:30 and it never got picked up. I sit here while the fire alarm is still going off for the last 30 minutes, cancelling my 10am Zoom meeting and trying to decide if I should try to force my cat out from under the bed, get him into his carrier, and wait on the sidewalk... All these things are really disappointing. Like I said, we've always felt like this was a good place to live, with good management. Things have totally gone downhill over the past six months or so. I'm not sure what changed, but it has been a marked difference from what we experienced before. Maybe because of the wildfires and the need for apartments Bell has decided it costs too much to provide excellent service and so have stopped trying. I don't know. All I know is it's a real shame. And I want you to know that at some point, I will be airing my opinions publicly, on social media so people know what is going on here. END* Y'all, I know that sometimes the staff's hands are tied by Bell Partners being tight asses with funds (they are in this business to make money obvs) but honestly the lack of communication at times has shown complete disrespect for the people who live here. Things happen - I get it - but there is no reason not to be professional, reasonable, and respectful. There has been complete turnover of staff except for one person, BEN, who frankly has very poor people and communication skills and has deflected responsibility, gets very defensive, is completely passive aggressive, and has regularly shown absolute lack of empathy for individual complaints. I have several friends who are tenants after living here for years and we all agree that things have gone downhill dramatically. For the price point, YOU can definitely expect more than what you are getting at Bell. Lastly, the PROMO PHOTOS that they put online are a misrepresentation of what exists here. It was a nightmare leaving the house! Secondly, management was HORRIBLE!! It seems there's no communication between the landlord, manager, and property manager. When rent was due, you had the manager who's in charge of that letting you know you had a late fee because rent was never received while the landlord would tell you it was fine because he received the rent (their rent process is only wire transfer or money order). We also had horrible neighbors upstairs that would be jumping up and down, stomping, and throwing heavy objects onto the floor (our ceiling). After we talked to them in person (mind you, it was 2 adult women), they retaliated! The noise got worse and it was at all times of day and night. The property manager was notified of this along with the landlord, presenting them timelines of what occurs and even the manager stating she heard the stomping too when meeting up with them. They knew of our jobs in the healthcare field with our crazy work/sleep schedules and NONE of them cared one bit! We felt discriminated against them (they were aware of it and our legal matter) and it all made sense why they have such a high turnover moving rate there. We are happily living elsewhere with a much bigger space and less expensive monthly rate. I would STAY AWAY from there if I were you!

There was no question she didn't have an answer for and she was always available and ready to show us the place (and we checked it out three times before we made our final decision). The apartment complex doesn't have amenities, but this in no way cancels out its exclusive feel. The area has everything one might need: gyms, SPAs, cute little cafes, and major restaurant joints, quiet streets to jog. The best part is that the building is brand new; everything is stylish, minimalist, fresh, and clean, and we've never had anything break or give us any problems whatsoever.

Rafael is also an incredible human and a huge part of why I moved in. But we need to talk about vomitgate. To set the stage, each building only has a single elevator and two stairwells (both of which are locked). This means that for residents with mobility issues, postal workers, and delivery people, the only access to the units is via this one elevator. Which is why it's particularly alarming to me that we are now entering day three of our elevator being inaccessible due to a large pool of vomit. I first discovered it Saturday afternoon, when trying to use the elevator to take my dog out for a walk. There was something that looked like dog drool on the elevator floor, but when the elevator doors opened I saw the puddle of vomit and immediately went down to the parking garage to exit that way. There is no emergency maintenance line that I am aware of, but several residents texted the managers to let them know the situation. Saturday evening, the vomit was still there, but someone had placed a "caution wet floor" sign over it. It is now Monday morning. The vomit is still blocking the entrance to the elevator. I am thankful I am able bodied, as the lobby must be accessed in order to use the gym, trash room, dog park, and of course to enter and leave the building. Thinking of the people entering the building who have no choice but to use the elevator, as well as residents who are not able to use the stairs and have to choose whether to walk across a puddle of vomit during a global pandemic or not enter or leave their homes is truly alarming. This is a health and safety hazard, not to mention flat out bizarre. I have heard from other residents another puddle of vomit has gone untouched on the third floor. I will continue to report back on how long it remains before being taken care of.

I highly recommend this place to anyone, as it's easily the best/nicest apartment I've ever lived in (I've been a tenant in 8+ apartments). Amenities include a pool, 10+ BBQs spread out between two separate areas, a huge jacuzzi (fits 10-15), and an exercise gym. He was ALWAYS incredibly helpful, responsive, warm and welcoming. He made my time at Brookmore very enjoyable. The reason why I moved was just to upgrade the size of my apartment. She consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism, dedication, and care in every aspect of her role. The property has improved so much over the past year through management and new additions like vending machines, an Amazon locker, structured parking, enhanced building security, more timely and reliable maintenance service, better organized and more enjoyable community events, and of course the freshly painted hallways... just to name a few. All of this has really made a difference in the overall living experience, compared to the years before, and I've even recently referred both family and friends to live here.
