She knows where to work on, she knows how hard to work on it, and she knows when to let up when it's a bit too painful. She has helped me fix problems I was aware of, and become aware of problems I didn't know I had. She gives me exercises to help me relieve tension and strengthen muscles that have been atrophied due to poor posture or a pronated gait. She is also warm and thoughtful, and always very pleasant to see. Acupuncture has helped it significantly, but even those treatments have reached a plateau. After just one session with Polina, she was able to nip it in the bud via a trigger point release, which no massage therapist has ever done before. It felt like she was pushing the knot away, ironing it smooth, but very pleasant and not torturous as I've experienced before with other therapists. Turns out, it's an adhesive tissue, probably from years of not addressing it properly. But after a stressful 100+ hour work week with very little sleep (and a lot of getting yelled at by my bosses), my boyfriend insisted that I do something nice for myself, and he somehow ended up sending me to Aimee for a little R&R. I was too exhausted by this point to protest, and it was in the 'hood, so I thought: Why not? What an incredible experience! I instantly felt 100% comfortable with Aimee; she immediately put me at ease over being a "massage virgin," and I felt no awkwardness at all while preparing for the massage. And then the massage itself: magical! To think that I used to equate having a massage with having one's flesh kneaded is ridiculous. She was able to discern exactly where I was most tense, and was able to work out that tension right away. To my amazement, the hour flew by ... but I wasn't ready for her to stop.
