Amazing trip down the Truckee River. Our adventure started at the parking lot across the highway…read morefrom River Ranch. We parked, checked in, and waited for the shuttle bus to take us to the starting point in Tahoe City. A 5 minute speech about the rules and what ifs was endured. On to the raft. These are sturdy rafts that can easily accommodate 6 or 7 people. They charge by the person not by the raft so you can take 2 rafts for more space. The river is flowing high so there were minimal protruding rocks and trees. The "rapids" at the end were pretty tame as well. We brought super soakers and had a few water fights with other boats and picnicking people. This has become an expensive outing.

My daughters (11 and 13) and I set out for a leisurely float that turned into one of the highlights of our summer. Seamless Start Parking was easy and free a rare treat (we are from Los Angeles) and the lot even had a restroom, which was super convenient for families. Check-in was smooth and well-organized: we received red wristbands and a boarding pass, then hopped onto the shuttle bus bound for the launch point. Easy Breezy Adventure Once at the river, staff gave a quick safety briefing and handed out life jackets before helping us launch our raft. From start to finish, every team member we interacted with was friendly, patient, and genuinely welcoming. The whole operation felt effortless. Gentle Float Meets Gorgeous Views We set off around 10:15 AM under sunny skies and a light breeze. The float itself was peaceful and beginner-friendly. My eldest had never rowed before, so it was a fun learning curve lots of laughs, some zigzagging, and plenty of drifting. Wildlife was abundant: ducks, geese, and chirping birds greeted us along the way. We snapped tons of photos and chatted with other folks enjoying the river. The occasional mild "rapids" added a dash of excitement but never felt intimidating. Lunch on the Water We brought a Yeti cooler packed with lunch, drinks, and snacks, which my youngest daughter absolutely loved. We stopped a few times to swim and explore some parts of the river are surprisingly deep while others are ankle-shallow. Towels, sunscreen, and water were essential. End of the Line, but Not the Fun The float ends at a restaurant where staff helps you disembark, and a shuttle conveniently takes you back across the street to your parked car. Such a thoughtful, full-circle setup. Tips The river water is cold, so prepare for that but once you're in, you adjust quickly. Also, bring lunch, sun protection, and don't forget the camera; this is a memory-maker. Overall, this experience was top-notch. Scenic, well-managed, and packed with gentle adventure. We'll absolutely be back.

We boarded the rafts directly behind the office, staff were nice college kids. The ride was 90% chill mix in with 10% of excitement as our craft stranded on rocks, twice. There are many places u can stop for snack break, feed the duck or to skinny dip. A few small but tricky rapids along the way, we saw other rafts stranded on rocks. The end was our fav part. Throughout the process, I was repeatedly directed from one company to the other, with each company telling me to contact the other instead of taking responsibility. It was extremely frustrating, time-consuming, and inconvenient. What made the experience even worse was the difference in how the two companies treated us. The other company was much friendlier, more helpful, and genuinely seemed interested in resolving the issue. In contrast, this company's staff came across as rude and dismissive, and they continually redirected us elsewhere even though our original booking was made through them. Overall, the lack of accountability and poor customer service left a very negative impression. Based on my experience, I would recommend booking with the other company instead. They were far more professional, responsive, and pleasant to work with throughout the process.

Had an amazing time with H2O Adventures on a full day trip on the South fork of the America River!…read more I highly recommend them! They were so friendly and helpful. Even when I screwed up our booking and accidentally forgot one person they quickly got us taken care of. Waylon was the best guide! He was great with both my kids, letting them know when they could ride the bull and when they could jump in to get wet. He knew a lot about the area and engaged in conversation with all of us. I highly recommend the full day trip as it lets you see the entire upper and lower parts. Lunch was amazing. They asked us what we wanted and had an amazing spread (burgers, toppings, chips, watermelon, lemonade, pasta salad & cookies). I certainly wasn't expecting it to be that good. But after a half day it was soooo yummy!!! Can't say enough nice things! Even when my oldest fell out at Hospital, everyone knew exactly what to do (she was holding onto the boat). They travel together which is great. There are lots of options, but you cannot go wrong with H2O Adventures! We are already planning our next trip- on the Middle Fork and we will most definitely raft with H2O!!

Super fresh delicious fruit and ingredients for a make-your-own wraps station. H2O was a great choice and we loved being able to support a great small, family owned business!!!

My sister, nephew and I wanted to do Middle Fork this year and I remember it being an adrenaline rush and challenging but so fun- We picked a Tuesday so it was not crowded, but when it ended up being just the three of us in the raft with Juli, I was a little nervous, remembering how intimidating tunnel chute was- and I didn't have the security of a full raft of people to weigh down the raft and help paddle to build up speed. This just goes to show you how important a seasoned veteran rafting guide is Juli was amazing. He gave clear instructions, he was very calm, and he managed the raft like a pro. No no flipping over and no one fell out. So exciting! Now I want to go to Costa Rica and look up Whitewater excitement there and request Juli. Hope to do this at least one more time this year. If I lived closer, I would go more often. Ps- I read some people complaining that you have to pitch in to carry the raft from the water up to the trucks and from the trucks down to the water, I've only been with one company that did not ask you to do that. All the rest have always had the rafters help out in pitch-in.
