I just moved from California and I made an online appt for the Double Diamond Pkwy location. I chose the DL/vehicle multi appointment. Scheduling the appointment online was easy and I for multiple reminders via text and email for my appt. On the day of my appt (which I made for 8:00 am) I showed up 10 minutes early and lines were already forming. They were split into an appointment and non appointment line. Representatives came out 5 minutes before opening to make sure people were in the right lines, had correct forms and to ask everyone with appts to check in via the text that came through. The text message gave you the option to press 2 stating that you had arrived for your appt. They told us once we checked in to take a seat in the lobby. The facility was very clean and quite spacious. I only had to wait about 5 minutes before my name was called over an intercom and told me what window to proceed to. My worker was very nice, patient and helpful. I was able to get my NV license ($41) and register my car and get NV plates. Check the DMV website before your appt as they have many helpful links to inform you of what documents are needed for each service. Things to note: VIN inspections need to be completed before your appt. These can be done without an appt. Just make sure you have your registration.

If so, why? I'm not advocating for impaired driving. If someone is truly impaired behind the wheel, there should absolutely be consequences. But THC can remain detectable long after the psychoactive effects are gone, and many people don't realize that in some cases, people can face license suspensions, SR-22 requirements, and ignition interlocks even without a DUI conviction. Another question: if these devices don't detect THC, why are they being required? Is it purely about public safety, or are there financial incentives through fees and contracts tied to these programs? If there aren't, then there should be no issue with transparency. Also, why have 33 states updated their laws to move away from strict THC-per-se standards and toward impairment-based approaches, while others have not? What do they know that we're ignoring? I believe our laws should be based on science, actual impairment, and due process--not assumptions.

The AAA employee (insurance agent?} listened to my concerns but told me too bad, it is what it is. The "snapshot" discount for safe driving is anything but a snapshot. It is a personal tracker and agreement allow AAA to sell your personal location data & trends for more than 3/4 of the year. It kills your cell phone battery as it is always searching for the slightest movement. All of this and you MIGHT be offered a 10% discount when you renew. They even track and deduct points for when I am on my bicycle and stop to take photos or change the music. The "agent" told me "How are we supposed to know?", if you are moving you are scored. They of course don't insure my bicycle or trips on it, public transit, my Uber driver.... Remember when a 20-year driving record with no tickets or accidents was good enough to indicate that you were a safe driver and insurable, those days are gone. Personal data sales apparently informs them more than your credit score, insurance score, and DMV print out. Don't bother calling the "MySafeDrive" app either. Their answer to all questions is "You can always cancel and be charged more." How about I cancel and go back to a car insurance company that doesn't sell my personal information to the highest bidder? I wonder what AAA is doing to people that buy travel through them? Luggage trackers? Sell your travel photos and plans?

This shows at least one judge will act to avoid tough issues and force people to push cases to the court of appeals. The second issue is the lawyers for the city of Sparks have no interest in truly following the law - like any private lawyer, they just want to win through any means possible, including misdirection and misrepresentation - all to protect the city (even if it violates state law). This is unethical and immoral. Ultimately, the system is rigged and designed solely for the benefit of the city and its lawyers, and as such, people will not find justice in this court.
