Fret not, VC post office is here at your rescue. From 8:00am-4:30pm M-F, the office is open with full service, clerks and everything! Sorry, nobody's here on Saturday or Sunday. The lobby is open for PO Box access 24 hrs. a day (except Sunday). If you want that letter to Uncle Jasper picked up today, the last collection is 4:30pm (Saturday at 9:30am). It's a strange departure from all the buildings in this town. Too modern for my taste. But it is a business facility, not a touristy one. Personnel are great and it's incredibly convenient. Unfortunately, just like Silver City, they do not process US Passport applications or renewals. What I did was walk in and buy a book of stamps. Ambiance - Huge location, including the parking lot. Service - Okay. Mostly self service. Well today the line was crazy long?!?! See pictures. Open 5.5 days. Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm; and on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. They are closed on Sundays. Services available at this location - Financial services (money orders, etc), passport, pickup services (mail hold, etc), business services, biometric services (fingerprint, in person proofing), etc. Price - Affordable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1971 (formed in Washington DC) with your $80B in revenue. Much controversy about your profitability or lack of it. This is an "independent" agency of the executive branch of our US government. You have an amazing history dating back to 1775, but I will not go into that here.

The worst post office ever. Here 20 minutes before they open, 3rd in line. They open 3 minutes…read morelate. They start with 1 clerk to help people and another at the desk but weighing mail. Maybe they should do that in the back when there are 20 people waiting in line. Finally another person comes to help. Both clerks in the back for 10+ minutes. Apparently they can't find what customers need. I've lived in Carson City for 5 years and EVERY time it's a similar experience.

I made the mistake on the 1/20/25 (a holiday) of trying to drop off letters (5 inches worth; I know, due to my travels, I have not checked my mail for a long time) and a package in 3 SL post offices. The employees here are the second best (again compared to SL and Alameda). Far from perfect, but at least the majority of the employees here get the job done. Do not expect friendly or efficient service from any USPS. Atmosphere - 5 stars. Decent size lobby, 24/7 for both letters and mail drop off. No homeless, unlike in CA. Limited parking, another reason I try to come during off peak hours or closed hours. One way in and out. Well it is supposed to be... Convenient to my favorite brewery, Schussboom.
