She came out with the large package (a toaster oven) on a dolly. She explained that the contractors delivering mail were getting so many large packages they could not get them all in their vehicles every day for delivery. She wheeled the package out to my vehicle and put it in for me. Glad to report a good job all the way around for the Post Office and their friendly professional employee.

Fret not, VC post office is here at your rescue. From 8:00am-4:30pm M-F, the office is open with full service, clerks and everything! Sorry, nobody's here on Saturday or Sunday. The lobby is open for PO Box access 24 hrs. a day (except Sunday). If you want that letter to Uncle Jasper picked up today, the last collection is 4:30pm (Saturday at 9:30am). It's a strange departure from all the buildings in this town. Too modern for my taste. But it is a business facility, not a touristy one. Personnel are great and it's incredibly convenient. Unfortunately, just like Silver City, they do not process US Passport applications or renewals. What I did was walk in and buy a book of stamps. Ambiance - Huge location, including the parking lot. Service - Okay. Mostly self service. Well today the line was crazy long?!?! See pictures. Open 5.5 days. Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm; and on Saturday from 10am to 1pm. They are closed on Sundays. Services available at this location - Financial services (money orders, etc), passport, pickup services (mail hold, etc), business services, biometric services (fingerprint, in person proofing), etc. Price - Affordable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1971 (formed in Washington DC) with your $80B in revenue. Much controversy about your profitability or lack of it. This is an "independent" agency of the executive branch of our US government. You have an amazing history dating back to 1775, but I will not go into that here.

Maybe they should do that in the back when there are 20 people waiting in line. Finally another person comes to help. Both clerks in the back for 10+ minutes. Also, it would be VERY helpful if people would learn to use online services. I NEVER have to go in there. Print postage on line, if not from USPS.com then from a third party FREE account (search, you'll find it). Arrange for package pick up at my house. Have a cluster box so that I don't need to go the PO all the time. If you don't have a cluster box in your neighborhood or complex--request one! The reason I'm reviewing today....lately I've had packages mis-delivered, also packages that are too large stuffed into the slot, making them difficult to get out (used to be they would bring the larger packages to the house) AND three days in a row I've requested a pick up (never failed in the past) and the packages are still sitting there. Been trying to call the post office, it just rings and rings. Something is different, in the last couple of months and I don't think it's the holiday rush. Something else.
