Not only are there basketball and tennis courts but there is also a small pond with ducks, as well as a huge track to get your steps in! The park is so clean with plenty of areas to chill, as well as grills and benches to hang out and BBQ! I came here most recently for Independence Day to watch the fireworks show at 9pm. I really appreciate them implementing security checks prior to entering the show since last year! It was very crowded but there was plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful fireworks! The show lasted around 15 minutes and the fireworks were so big and pretty! Really enjoy how there were food stands and entertainment prior to the firework show as well!

The day I paid a visit it had just rained a bit in the afternoon then cleared out for the rest of the evening. Up above this hillcrest on any given day I suspect would be ideal for watching the sunset or perhaps flying a kite. There was a consistent light breeze which felt refreshing, free from the congested traffic down below. Among the offerings include a baseball field, a modern jungle gym, basketball courts, and tennis courts. Specifically, tennis takes priority over pickleball. Further up the hill there's a small Japanese garden with a gazebo which while a bit worn out has a lot of charm. Street parking was plentiful and it never got really crowded. One thing I noticed was that my mobile network became somewhat spotty, but 'tis a minor inconvenience. If I'm free, I'd love to visit more often.

Barnes Park Offerings: 1) Pickleball Courts (6) /Tennis (1): 2 month's ago they repaved and installed permanent pickleball nets. There's only one tennis court now... haha Pickleball is taking over! Pickleball courts are closed starting 5/4/2026 to 5/12/2026. Will reopen on 5/13/2026. 2) Baseball/Softball Field 3) Community Center 4) Gymnasium: Indoor basketball and pickleball courts (7pm - 10pm) 5) Restrooms: They're available. Not really clean though. 6) Teqball table: Don't see people use this table to play. I guess I'll watch this on youtube for now. Hopefully, one day.... I'll be able to see this sport in real life. GRP features two lighted baseball fields, picnic facilities, restrooms, lighted tennis/pickleball courts, children's playground, a community room, museum and observatory and measures approximately 18 acres. Quite huge park, but you wouldn't know it from first glance. Very clean and well kept. Two parking lots are available. East side of the park on Orange Ave is where you'll find the picnic shelters, larger playground, community room, historical museum, basketball courts and observatory. West side of the park on Alhambra Ave is closer to the smaller playground and larger baseball diamond. As for the 1 full tennis and 1 full tennis + 4 pickleball shared courts, they are located on Orange Ave near the intersection of Orange Ave and Metro Dr. If you're coming from the north on Orange Ave, drive past the entrance of the park and go up the hill just a bit. The courts will be on your right. Very small parking lot in front of the courts. Street parking is also available. Lighted courts are first come first serve. For pickleball, permanent lines are available, but you'll have to bring your own net (BYON). If you plan to bring food/drinks, be careful of ants. They will find them LOL. Our work group had so much fun. We met some new pickleballer friends as well. Definitely a great place to play some amazing pickleball. Thank you GRP!

The downside is sometimes the slides may have been used as a restroom so you can smell it and might need to avoid those slides. They do have a restroom which is a smelly and dirty but useable. This park is a great gathering and refresh place for the community of San Gabriel for leisure exercise nature walks for children and adults alike. There is a couple of playgrounds located inside Vincent Lugo Park, one of which is La Laguna playground with huge animal shaped installments for children to play & explore and a regular playground with swings & climbing/jungle gyms. For adults, there are outdoor exercise equipment, which I saw are located in two separate places.. There are more nooks & crannies for me to explore that I may find in my next visit. Picnic tables are found some shaded some not, bbq grills, too. Additionally, there are covered tables and chairs as well for the community to hold parties or any kind of celebration. Walking paths are available, both cement & ground (clay-like). I noticed that there were a few sets of people doing tai chi-a few of them brought their music to coordinate their movements. It seems like small park tucked away, almost hidden. It's like a nature trail for me. I figure I could cut across the Alhambra Wash path to walk to it next time. Restrooms available, ample parking spaces. Lots of trees, greens. I love this "discovery"

While there's plenty of street parking, free lot parking is available right as you enter on Hellman with additional spots up the hill. Among the available physical activities include swimming, tennis, basketball, and ping pong. Local soccer and cheer teams can also be seen on the lawns conditioning for their upcoming season. That said, you may find taking a leisurely stroll or lying down on the grass just as rewarding. A handful of canopies make for great BBQ/picnic spots, and the hilly portions of the park tend to provide a cool and gentle breeze. For me, it's a fine spot to slow down and watch the sunset. As night falls, the lamps come on along the walkway and provide a touch of class.

Lots of people with their family and friends plus their furry friends spending a beautiful and sunny weekend at this park. Plenty of benches for parties and all. Children's playground is available. Libary of Books located at the front of the park. Great place to take a comfortable and relaxing stroll in the early morning or evening when it's cooler. Love to be back for more yoga and nice walks! Street parking is available, but may be limited when there are a lot of people. Come here early if possible.

A lot of…read moreshrubs, vines, and trees that are indigenous to the Alhambra wash were planted and maintained. It has a well used dirt walking trail that is well used. For adults wanting to stay in shape, they have different types of equipment to strengthen arms, legs, and midsection. While these are not powered, some even offer limited cardio building capabilities. They have at least two public restrooms and working drinking fountains. Children playground equipment also exists. Finally, a baseball field with backstop, scoreboard and lights exists. At 191' to the right and left sidelines, it is suitable for high school or little league. This is a clean park that is well maintained. I was surprised not to see any homeless here.
