I spent the weekend in Weldon and saw a good review on yahoo for this place. Although I was skeptical about finding a good steak in the middle of nowhere, I decided to give it a try. I am glad that I did. We went there twice in the same weekend both times with exceptional results. The dining room has a rustic atmosphere and is very small. The log tables and chairs were dressed with speckled camping plates and the flatware was wrapped in different colored bandannas. The walls were adorned with pictures of horses, antler light fixtures and other "country" decorations. Oh I can't forget the life size cut out of John Wayne. It completes the look lol. There is a small bar in the restaurant. I believe it's the only full bar in town. I would imagine it probably fills up fast on the weekend. Since this place is small I would make a reservation, if possible, to avoid either waiting or eating on the patio (we went on a windy weekend). I wouldn't want gritty food or have to worry about my plate blowing away. We arrived relatively early so we were promptly seated and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. My little foodies in training ordered kids meals One ordered with french fries, which are fried in the same oil that they fry shrimp in, so if you don't like your fries tasting like fried shrimp avoid them at all costs! That's why this place only received 4 stars..I LOVE french fries!! Shrimp flavored fries....YUCKY! The other one ordered the clam chowder against my advice. We are the "if it's in the sea it's not for me" kind of people. The waitress noticed that he didn't eat the soup and gave him fries instead. Which was extremely nice especially considering I never mentioned anything about it. Great service is always a plus! I ordered the small top sirloin with a baked potato and a salad. The salad was a pretty decent size and the dressing was good. My steak was cooked medium rare. It was delicious...really tender, juicy and flavorful! The potato was nothing to write home about, but then again it's rare to find a plain baked potato that is. We returned two days later and I ordered the lighter meal which consists of a smaller portion of protein, a side of seasonal veggies and a side salad. I ordered the sirloin and it was just as succulent as the first time! It was the same size too which made it even better. The seasonal veggies was a mixture of broccoli carrots and squash. It was awesome! The veggies were fresh, not frozen and perfectly crisp tender. Most places overcook veggies to the point where they're just mushy, gross and inedible. I did have to add a small pat of butter and salt and pepper as they were not seasoned but that's fine with me as long as they are cooked right All in all I would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling in the area. I'm gluten free, they are very knowledgeable and knew what I could have on their menu. Very pleasant service. We shared a rib eye steak and for a 7+$ you get an extra side and salad. The dinner salad was, very fresh mixed greens and large enough to share. The make all but their ranch dressing from scratch. I had the honey mustard which I enjoyed. Hubby had the blue cheese and he's still talking about it. The baked potato was the size you would make at home, served on the side was butter,sour cream and chives. The 16 ounce rib eye was $23 thats really not to high of a price. Probably could of cut it with a fork but why when they include a steak knife. Added a side of mushrooms. So glad I did. For desert we had the choice of a Mug root beer float or a hot fudge sundae Got the sundae and what I like was the ice cream was just a little soft. They do have a bar but all their beer is bottled. We checked the menu a few times online and weren't too impressed but we gave it a shot since it was the only restaurant in the Valley we had not tried. The server was friendly and attentive, and the place is cute and clean. As for the food It wasn't the worst, but it also really wasn't anything special. I didn't have steak so I guess thats where I went wrong, but my chicken was bland and not very creative. The bill was also pretty high for the quality of food we got (2 entrees and three bottled beers for $70). For the same price tag we could have had REALLY amazing chicken Marsala at Thats Italian or a PERFECT steak at Ewing's. read more

Wanted to do this the other nite on Wednesday, I have gone here three times and twice I hated the dish I ordered. 1st time was baby back ribs that were burnt on the grill the slathered with sauce. Eewww who would eat burnt food? Then the 2nd time I ordered chx Breast so dry I had to drink something to get it down. Such a disapointment. Food might be great. Second time my boyfriend tried to take me there and both times they closed early. I checked Yelp and website. Both said open until 9pm. Arrived at 8:30 after long drive into town. We sat down and server came out and said they were closed. Was looking forward to a romantic dinner. I think they could have at least offered a glass of wine for the drive in. Sign outside even said dinner until 9pm. Very good sandwiches in a comfortable, pseudo-rustic atmosphere. Service was good, with the sandwiches coming promptly. The waitress was friendly without being cloying, and was sure to refill soft drinks when they were low, without hovering or interfering. The roast beef wasevenly and thinly sliced and medium-rare. My wife was impressed with an ample amount of small steak strips on her steak salad. Fries were crisp, flavorful, and not at all oily. At $10-12, prices are a bit high, which deprives the place of a full 5 stars. If you're comfortable with the range, then I heartily endorse the Sierra Vista. read more

My family and I were up visiting the Trail of 100 Giants on July 2, and on our way back home we decided to stop by Sierra Vista for one of their delicious steaks. My wife is originally from the Lake Isabella area, so we knew from prior experience that the food was excellent. We arrived at 8pm, 1 hour before they closed. As we walked in we were not greeted and the staff gave us a look like they were disappointed and maybe even put out that we dare show up an hour before they closed. Our waitress seemed very impatient with us, especially when my neice asked what type of salad dressings they had. We felt as though we were "pushed" the enitre time to eat quickly. A few minutes after we arrived and ordered my sister went to the restroom which was already locked. The manager rolled her eyes and said she would have to get a key to open it for her. Our food arrived and all the waitresses stared at us as we ate. If looks could kill, we'd all been dead. No refills on drinks, plates were scarfed up as soon as our last bite was being chewed. I guess you already know that no one dare ask us if we wanted dessert. Our bill came to over $100. As we were leaving I needed to use the restroom (restrooms are located outside of the resturant). My family was waiting at our car when the manager came to lock up the restroom that I was in. They told her that I was still in the restroom. The manager/owner/daughter showed incredible unprofessionalism and impatience telling my family, "You know we're trying to all get out of here and go watch the fireworks show at the lake." At that point she shut off all the lights in and outside the restaurant, she and her staff all piled into one car and left me in a dark restroom and my family in a dark parking lot. I understand that the staff might have also wanted to leave and spend time with their family watching fireworks, but if they wanted to get out early why didn't they close at 8p or at least put up a sign that says we want to close early tonite. That would have given us the option of whether we wanted to eat under those time constraints. I don't care how good your food is Sierra Vista, we will never ever return to your restaurant again. Although we had never been treated like that before by the staff, there is a permeating attitude at this establishment that they think they are the "only show in town" and don't have to be nice to people. Customers be aware and watch for Sierra Vista's core belief that they are doing you a favor to serve you and you need to be grateful. read more

I took my friend's advice who lives in Woford Heights, that this was the best restaurant in the area so he, my brother and I went there for dinner last Saturday evening. I was so impressed. The atmosphere is family, small, warm and friendly. Our waitress was great, explained everything we asked very clearly. I loved the salad, home-made Blue Cheese dressing and perfect lettuce! I ordered the 6 ounce top sirloin medium-well and it was perfect! Of the five at our table all comments were excellent. The small sirloin was the BEST I HAVE EVER EATEN !! The restaurant was full on the evening we visited but the server (whom I later was told was the owner) was perfect. Most restaurants in the area do not open early in the week off season. Rude is only way to put it..Made reservations for 5 people at 6:30 ,showed up a couple minutes before only to be told sorry a un-expected party of 9 came in. What part of reservation do they not understand. But drove to paradise cove lodge & not only did they seat us but the food is better too. The steak & lobster was much better at the cove than sierra vista . Lost 5 customer"s here & the cove gained five. Way more friendlier there to. read more
