I had no clue how I was going to find the perfect hair stylist for my special day, so I decided to complete an extensive search on Instagram. By searching #atlbrides #atlantabrides #bridalupdo, I came across countless stylists and reached out to over a dozen. I had a very specific vision for my hair; being that I wanted a one-of-a-kind dramatic wedding look. I was inspired by a photo that had a romantic updo that looked like beautiful hair art. To be honest, the hair style intimidated most of the stylists I reached out to. Star was one out of two stylists that were up for the challenge! After reviewing Star's catalog of work, I was fully confident that she was going to bring my vision to life. Star was very pleasant to communicate with throughout the entire experience, she arrived on time, styled 4 of my bridesmaids beautifully, and then exceeded my expectations with my bridal look. DO NOT COME HERE FOR A KERATIN TREATMENT!!…read more UPDATE: I typically get my Keratin treatments done in Los Angeles at a Salon that ONLY performs these treatments, no other service is offered there. I moved to Atlanta and decided to give this salon a try. I went in with curly 3C hair (frizzy since my last treatment was in May in Los Angeles) and left out with STRAIGHT hair from scalp to about 3.5 down the shaft of my hair with the rest of my hair still curly and frizzy. Amanda ONLY treated my "new growth" and said keratin treatments aren't applied to the hair that was previously treated which is FALSE!! only relaxers and permanent smoothing treatments aren't applied to hair that was previously relaxed. I was adamant about wanting to preserve my curls and just wanting my hair more manageable and frizz free. She understood this. She still proceeded to put this straightening treatment in my hair! I will only be able to wear straight styles until this grows out! My curls are ruined and the sides of my hair is completely broken off to two inches long and it's all because this stylist refused to acknowledge that she does not know how to do keratin treatments. It's been 2 months since my treatment and my hair is still breaking off! DO NOT COME HERE FOR A KERATIN TREATMENT. She uses a product that has Keratin in it, but it's NOT THE SAME THING! "Matrix Opti Smooth Normal Permanent Straightening Treatment" is NOT a Keratin Treatment! P.S. I left a review on Google and she actually replied acting as if I scammed her. how unbelievably unprofessional. To intentionally lie as if I skipped out on paying her when she didn't even attempt to collect money from me because she knew she ruined my beautiful curls. Not once did she ask me about payment, she kept telling me not to cry and that it will be okay and it's not permanent but here we are, two months later and I am now dealing with an inch of curly new growth, 4 inches of straight hair and 9 inches of curly ends. Amanda, you should be ashamed of yourself. Please note, you didnt even get the chance to flat iron my hair because when I finally saw what you did to my hair (you did a pretty good job at preventing me from seeing it up until that point) I was devastated! I immediately asked to see what you put in my hair. A RELAXER. I will be reporting you to BBB.

Alyssa did a whole health assessment on my hair's history. At my first visit she looked into my hair like a crystal ball and told me its life story. She knew what my go-to style was, what types of products I was using, what my hair was like as a kid (mindblown!), and that I was overloading my hair with conditioner (I didn't know that was a thing). She never tries to talk me into an add on or a more expensive option. She explains why her recommendations would be a good idea for MY hair instead of "ALL natural girls should do this". She remembers that I don't like to put much heat on my hair and that I don't want to manipulate my hair too much between salon visits; and she always works with these things that I want for my hair. My hair never feels as good as it does when she's done with it. Lush has had clients come in and walked them through doing their own hair. If this sounds strange to you then you either don't have black-people natural hair, or you're caring for your natural hair all wrong and don't even know it; and in that case you need to check out Naturally Lush on YouTube so she can learn ya sumthin. If you're transitioning this is who you should see. Instead of just saying "you should come back every three weeks" or giving you verbal instructions on how to care for your hair, she'll walk you through a hands-on session. I learned that my twist out never lasted because the twists were too large for my curl pattern. Not all natural hair is the same and Lush treats customers accordingly.

After I washed my hair, I had heat damage! When I messaged her about it, she basically told me that there's no way she could have done it because she limits herself to TWO passes and that previous heat usage will cause that. Which is a lie. I watched her press the hair shaping my face multiple times to get it to lay how she wanted and I NEVER use heat on my own hair. I go to a professional about twice a year to have it straightened. I had to cut about three/four inches of my hair in the front and now I'm set way back. Incredibly disappointed in my last service and I will not be returning.
