I am writing this review to alert anyone using Briley Contracting/Construction for any work to…read morereconsider their decision based upon my personal experience and a legal action against them based on a fire I had in December, 2023.. I can prove everything claimed in this review. Here's what you can expect after signing a contract with Roy Briley and discussing your project with them outlining what you want. They will agree to everythin; the sky's the limit. Then the game begins. The first thing Briley will do is pressure you to to surrender all the money the insurance company allocates for your job (if it is an insurance job) directly to them. Do NOT do it; keep the funds in a separate account specifically for your project and pay for the work as you go AFTER you confirm the work was actually done and completed according to industry standards in a professional manner. If you don't, you will lose any leverage you have later if something goes wrong. Your money will be gone. Briley's owner and key employees are in on the scam, willingly and actively participating in the crimes they devise to extort money from their customers; I believe this is considered racketeering which, from my understanding of the definition, are coordinated efforts by multiple people in an organization that typically use fraud, extortion, threats, and intimidation to repeatedly earn a commercial profit. They will tell you a date when it will be completed. It won't be. I was told I would be back in my house in 7 months; I have been stuck in a hotel for 19 months now. Work will start (eventually) but then it will stop often for months at a time. They will come and spend a couple of hours and then go to another job. They often go several weeks or months without even entering the premises. This was the case with me; 7 months and nothing inside was completed. The only work attempted was painting, drywall and paneling and it was a disaster, it looked horrendous, and they also punched holes in my walls that did not exist before. I fired them in August. Absolutely no remodeling work was ever completed. I came in after the firing and am completing the job myself. Immediately after I received 3 final invoices that varied by $31,000 between the three of them. He claimed he did 80% of the entire remodel. I asked which invoice was valid. He responded with a fourth one that was higher yet and started demanding payment again. I told him I wanted a breakdown of the charges, but they refused claiming it was proprietary. I told him I would happily and promptly pay them after I understood what I was being charged for. Had I turned over my insurance check they would have laughed all the way to the bank, but they were thwarted because I had leverage, having personally held the money from the insurance company myself, to fight back. To intimidate me further they demanded full payment for mitigation and storage after he was fired and held all of my personal property hostage where I could not access it for months. I consider that theft. Right after that he slapped a significant lien on my home for work he claimed he did. I asked for a breakdown of the charges. They refused and filed a full-blown lawsuit against me asking the court to order that my house be auctioned off so he could be paid. This company did nothing to earn what they were lying about in their perjurious claims to the court. I have/ am still being harassed, intimidated, threatened, frightened and pressured to pay. Now he ratcheting it up even more through unnecessary litigation in which Briley make perjurious claims to the court and do not follow statutory law relative to the process.. The cases are on Courtview. Briley's Mode of Operation is to choose an easy mark, promise them the moon, and get them to sign their contract. Then they blow you off and do what they want when they want. When you've had enough and fire them, they will threaten, badger and intimidate you like they have me, and then slap a lien on your house. If that doesn't work they file a lawsuit asking the court to auction your house off and give them the proceeds destroying your life, family, finances and mental health. Then the lawsuit gets calendared by the court. Briley's plan at that point is to delay the court action until you get so stressed and frustrated that you throw up your hands and cave, or run out of money so you can't pay your attorney anymore allowing Briley to take the property completely destroying their lives. The impact on so many people means nothing to Briley. Other people's nightmares with Briley parallel my experiences almost to the letter. I am a 72-year-old single elderly woman Briley wants to force me out of my home of 27 years and live homeless on the streets of Anchorage as soon as he can. I don't want anyone to have the same experiences I am having and would be interested to hear from anyone having similar experiences with Briley.

Received communication prior to the driver getting to our home with details of their procedures and a Photograph identifying the operator, Jared. Jared opened our large double garden gates, moved every bit of additional metal barriers I had put up to keep our dogs from getting into the street, moved the yard art and large flower pots, drove the pump truck down the drive, and upon completion put everything back as it was. They stated there would be a nail removal and upcharge fee added to estimate for this request. I spoke to the manager of the company after his guys "finished job and left with a ridiculous final configuration of downspouts which posed a tripping hazard for young children and an eyesore and "who did this job?" To anyone that would observe it and there final product leaked! It passes for 10 or 15 feet away from house at knee to shin height cutting off all access to under deck and all who look at it. Will go wow what's up with that? I'd hired this company before. It cost three times as much as it did for the same service Outside,…read morebut a man and his son did a good job. They cleaned all of my windows inside and out, cleaned the screens, and cleaned the window sills inside and out. No screens were damaged. I asked them to come back to do my gutters. They said they would, but I never heard from them again. Still, when a Groupon came up, I thought it was a safe bet for a quality job. It wasn't. When the crew called to ask if they could move their appointment up by two-plus hours, it was unprofessional for their number to reflect a stranger's name instead of the company's. They called a second time because they were running behind schedule after-all. No problem for me as I planned the afternoon around their job. However, they had the wrong time on their schedule despite the company sending me an appointment verification. Not a big deal, but I noticed the unprofessional discrepancy. Two young men arrived. The older one in charge was friendly, but as he handed me a blank form to fill out, he informed me I did not have 15 or so windows but 33. There was nothing in the Groupon ad to indicate that a single pane was a window by itself, no matter how large or small. The cost to fulfill the Groupon as described was going to cost almost $60.00 more than the $70.00 I'd already paid, almost doubling the price. They said something about 15 outdoor windows and offered to do just the outside windows and all the screens for the Groupon and leave it at that. I accepted the offer. Because I was confused and felt pressured to make a snap decision, it didn't occur to me until afterward that they said there were fewer outdoor windows than they'd said windows in total. If there were 33 windows to do both inside and out, then there are 33 windows of which to do only the outsides! Like I said, though, I was surprised and felt pressured to make a decision so I wasn't keeping up. The Groupon was for up to 25 windows inside and out and 180 minutes, so they believe 25 windows can take as long as 180 minutes. They were gone in 45 minutes or less. Upon inspection, I discovered a haphazard job. They didn't do my glass front door, my other glass screen doors and left filthy screens on them, and they didn't touch the block glass windows. In fact, there were quite a number of windows they didn't bother to clean. None of the screens on any windows were thoroughly cleaned. If there is dirt all along the bottoms of the screens, they weren't removed and really cleaned because water alone would have washed away dirt I can wipe off with my finger! All the screens were still dirty from a little to a lot and none that I checked as soon as they left even felt damp. It was obvious some them hadn't been touched along with the windows behind them. One high window was left with an icky film over it so now looking out the window is thickly hazy when it wasn't before they "cleaned" it! I will have to climb up there to wash it off when I shouldn't be on tall ladders. One screen requiring a ladder to reach it isn't back in place all the way so one strong wind will take it out. I have to climb up there to push it in, yet the reason I hired window washers at all is because climbing tall ladders is not safe for me anymore. All of the outside window sills are still filthy. If screens were removed, then those outside sills should have been cleaned as the glass was cleaned. Instead, the dirt is still there with added muddy streaks on the white vinyl from their squeegee splashes. I was understanding and cooperative about the scheduling confusion and the surprise "details" regarding how they assessed the number of windows. Despite already moving all of my furniture out of their way, preparing for easy access to all inside windows, I compromised and accepted their offer. In return I received shoddy service. Perhaps the Groupon deal was not good for them, but as a customer who accepted their Groupon offer, I deserved high-quality service. If they wanted me as a return, full-priced customer, they should have made that effort regardless of the cost to them. That's just good business. Further, I told them I'd been a full-price customer before so it was a no-brainer to do a quality job as there was a good chance I would be again. Yet they still did a rushed, shoddy job. I won't hire this company again.
