From the moment we chose to live here at Signature Point in Carmel Valley, we've been impressed by the friendly staff. Heather, the regional manager, greeted us warmly and made us feel right at home. I am very fortunate to be able to call Signature Point in San Diego my home. I just started my twelfth year as a resident and I have loved every moment! The location is so convenient! I can walk across the street for groceries, restaurants, movies, banking and many retail shops. I couldn't ask for a better layout in my unit. I love the large laundry room and patio with extra storage as well as the attached two car garage. Signature Point offers so many amenities including the pool, hot tub, barbecue grills, tennis court, workout gym and beautiful clubhouse! But, what I really want to complement the most is the friendly, helpful and dedicated staff. They are truly the best at what they do. They are always quick to answer my questions or tend to my needs. I have only lived here for 2 months but so far so good. I am really happy with the location, staff, service and community. I was told that my unit was one of the first that was renovated and it shows with some stains, scratches, wonky cabinets and mantel but that is honestly the only problem (which really isn't at all). I moved from a brand new building before this where theft was on the daily and security minimal. I will take an older unit any day over what I had before. The only other downside that I can think of is the water in the pipes can smell a bit "farty" at times and I know that is due to the old plumbing (the building is 20 years old) Some water gets stuck in the drainage. The appliances are nice, the AC works, and I have a larger washer/dryer. That is all I need! Now what is really great about this place is how quiet it is. I happen to live in the center so I am sheltered from the streets noise but the actual neighbors around me are super quiet and relaxed. There are no garbage trucks, delivery trucks or gardener noise until after 8am when the gates open, which is great! There also does not seem to be an issue with porch pirates stealing packages, or breaking into garages, or bikes getting stolen - all things I experienced at my last place. I love that it is gated at night and there is a security guard. I feel so much safer. The location is great. Super close to the beach and just across the street from One Paseo full of shops and restaurants. I'm really happy right now being here and one of my good friends just rented here as well after she saw my unit and how nice and quiet the complex is. I'm looking forward to spending my next few years here! P.S. Really nice sized patios where you can create a little Oasis with plants and patio furniture. P.P.S. Not sure why there are so many low reviews here... I absolutely loved my time here. I've moved between different complexes in North county area and signature point is by far the best I've had. - I hated ceiling fans above my bed, so they accommodated me by replacing both with covers... Pretty sure no one else would do that. - Love the amenities; pool, tennis court, basketball court, sauna, steam room etc. - Friendly and nice staff. Darlene and Jackie are always in smiles and friendly to me... Not to mention they always remember my name. - Maintenance people, specifically Gus and Nybill (not sure how to spell it) were one of the nicest and most helpful people I've met. - Efficient towing... Even though it was my friend's car that was towed but it was my fault and it's good to know that they actually do tow unauthorized cars. - Super convenient; Del Mar highlands plaza has literally everything you may need. - Trash can rarely overloads, unlike many other apartment complexes. - Quiet and safe at night, no party noise... Only occasional sirens from nearby fire department. Only issue I've had was ants infestation... But it happens, I don't blame anyone for that. Sucks that I'm being relocated for work, but I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

After leasing the apartment for a year - we are sorry to go. This place felt like home during our temporary time. The maintenance crew always responded in a reasonable time taking care of all our issues. Complex has great amenities and close to Torrey Pines Hiking trails, beach and the shopping mall is right across the street. There is a waiting list to move in, but it was well worth it for our family. avoid this dump. horrible place to move into. we made a bad decision. they do not allow 6 month leases. we signed a 13 month lease because they only allowed those. do not move into this place. there are too many kids in this comple. the cellular service, spectrum, does not work & has poor reception. my cell phone doesn't work either, i have at&t. we want out of this god aweful lease!!! i cry daily when i return home. i have to conduct business across the street on my laptop & phone because the reception is bad. the landscape on the prop. is dreadful. save yourself the headache and avoid this dump!! we have a 2 bedroom & pay over $5,000. read more

We moved here From NYC to retire in San Diego and the entire process has been wonderful. From our initial queries with Darlene who was amazing throughout the entire process while we were still in NY to Ali who guided us through our move in and Jackie, the office has been nothing short of terrific in customer service. Gus and his team came to help us set up when we asked- the grounds are impeccable and the renovated apartments are very well done and don't look cookie cutter. These people are crooks. They mailed our renewal late after their 60 DAY notice they require! One of their 3 bbqs for the whole property has been down for 4 months. The second bbq only has 2 of the 4 burners working! The people in their office told us we were ok to bring our new born baby into our apartment after they sprayed for ants about a week after we moved in! Yes ANTS in our newly remodeled unit! The guys that actually spray told us we needed at least 24hrs before bringing children back into the unit. The office didnt believe me and I had to have Orkin sign a letter stating this! They also told us that the ants like to live in the woodchips that are all over the property right up against the buildings. Oh and they just put new wood chips down! Dont live here! read more

Our lease is winding up and currently thinking about moving to other places in the neighborhood. I love its location, but we started to doubt whether its pros outweigh cons.. Pros: * It's close to the malls and schools. * Gym is pretty decent. I prefer running outside, but on rainy days, it's neat to have a gym in the complex. * I think it's pretty quiet although it's close to the main road. * Swimming pool was not big but was decent enough for family use (currently under renovation). Cons: * Every time you renew your contract they raise almost $200 - $300. I talked to some neighbors who lived here for years, and such raise seems to be a norm here. If you are planning to buy a house and renewing your lease for less than a year, the rent will go up even more!! * If you have visitors staying overnight, you need to log onto a parking management website, type in the color, the model, the year of manufacture and number plate of your friend's car each time you want to print out the permit! (You only have ten a month!) You may think it's crazy, but it's actually a giant step improvement! It had horrible parking policy until recently. You were required to use permits when your visitor stayed after 6 p.m.!! (Also received 10 permits a month.) The contracted company is very diligent in towing cars away, weekends or weekdays. A neighbor's visitor's car got towed twice (which costs them around $300 per tow), and I heard about another neighbor who had four cars towed on one night during a party. Fortunately, the 'curfew' was changed to 11 pm recently after almost a year of residents voicing out complaints to the management. (Phew, finally!) * Currently there is a major renovation going on around the pool, BBQ and the communal area. Cut to the chase, I don't know if those changes were necessary or would justify the inconvenience residents had to put up with for many months. Those areas were decent enough so I was surprised that they would start almost a half year long construction. Naturally, I was excited, expecting 'major' upgrades like improving small playgrounds or expanding the pool. But from the outside, I'm disappointed to see that it's more like beautification project, like changing plants or tiles on floors surrounding the pool. (To be fair for the management, you get $25 reimbursed per household during construction if you choose to use a nearby pool. But come on, that would be just enough to cover one trip to the pool if you have a four-person household!! ) I hope they don't use the renovation as an excuse to raise rents. read more

When we decided to withdraw our pending application to pursue a different rental, Heather was kind and helpful on the phone, and was quick to refund our holding deposit. You must submit a W9, a copy of your real estate license along with your broker's license and an invoice for the $500 billed to Signature Point. I had to submit these forms 4 times since November 2010!! The former manager was a nightmare to deal with, my messages were never returned and it is has been FIVE months and NO CHECK! DO NOT REFER your clients to this community! I am a current residence of the property and they are reporting on my credit report that I have been delinquent 3 times in the last 12 months. I have never been delinquent on any rent payments and this is affecting my ability to move into a new house. If you are moving into this area and looking for a place to stay until you are ready to buy a house I wouldn't suggest Signature Point. I am shocked that I am having to deal with this and gather all of the paperwork to prove otherwise. I am very disappointed in what I am having to go through and deal with. I lived at Signature Point for 6+ years and just moved out so a few comments to consider based on quite a bit of experience. The complex is very nice with good facilities and great apartments with good appliances, amenities. I looked for quite a while and was blown away by the place and nice and light and good floor plan plus 2 car garage which I needed for car and dirt bikes/workshop and didn't find anything close. Dealing with leasing staff and management was nice and easy. But over the years it has gotten considerable worse, some of the original team I would consider friends, the recent lot barely give you a smile when passing although there has been another change and not really had much to do with them other than telling them I was leaving and they didn't even ask why. I read several comments about being surprised about noisy roads, sorry you should have figured that out yourself, yes some are much noisier than others and mine was quite away for Del Mar Heights Road and El Camino so not bad but the noise from nearby fire station could be annoying when they go out early or late. However my apartment was basically over looking the pool so did get noisy with kids screaming and playing marco polo late into evenings all through summer, not great. And I had many noisy neighbors who would spend ages talking very loud on phones while on deck/balconies. Lastly the noise carries between apartments and had lots of issues with slaming doors. Maintenance wasn't great, Patrick was good but the others wouldn't even acknowldge me after 6 years. Most things got fixed eventually but system was poor and spent last 3 months trying to get light bulbs replaced and gave up. But to be fair only time I had an emergency when water heater burst on a sunday evening they came out quick and fixed it. Quite a lot of pets which is nice but again some dogs not that well look after and barking. Very cosmopolitine, lot of Asian residents. Gym is reasonable and as I used it a lot, a pain also. Several machines out of service for extended time, basic operation or TV's, families come in with kids who stand on machines to watch cartoons while parents work out Great location close to I5, Del Mar and Del Mar Heighlands shopping center across the street with most things you need. And being close to the ocean you rarely need A/C but you do get an extended June gloom that can ran from may to august until late morning to clear. Then pricing is expensive, overly so IMO, I got some discounts as a long term resident but in general rent went up each year way more than inflation, only when I said I planned to leave and not renew my lease did they want to negotiate, maybe I should have pushed more. And after a few years they added you have to get renters insurance with added cost. read more

I have lived here for six months and have nothing but great things to say about this community. In addition to the amazing amenities (pool, hot tub, sauna, large fitness room, tennis court and beach volleyball court) the mgmt goes out of its way to keep everything looking great. Every week I see groundskeepers, painters, tree trimmers and other sorts of maintenance people attending to the development to keep it looking like a set in a tv show about one of those perfect little communities. Twice I have had to call the office about issues at my place (once for plumbing and once for a bees nest on our patio), and both times they had someone out to fix the problem within 24 hours. As for the location, I couldn't ask for more. The community is very quiet and the connected skybridge to Del Mar Heights shopping center comes in handy at least once / week. I am obviously wary of how much they will raise the rent when our 12-month lease ends, but I will make sure to revise this review if it is an extravagant increase like I have been warned about. read more

TLDR: This place is a smoker's paradise, which is hard to find these days in Southern California. If you don't mind throwing away countless idle threats and notices from management straight into the garbage, enjoy living here for years on end, chain smoking with reckless Vegas-style abandon. Please know this place is NOT SMOKE FREE. We've been dealing with smoking neighbors here for years, yes over three YEARS, and the management has failed to deal with it. They simply issue toothless threats/notices to neighbors that don't respond. Plumes come down from the balcony onto ours and despite all our windows and doors closed it still comes into our place. Resorted to running our bathroom fan 24/7 at this point, because the smoke often comes down into our bathroom vents somehow too. We've been making it work, though it's much worse now during the recent pandemic. I shouldn't have to make it work though... supposedly I have a legal right to peaceful enjoyment of my place, especially considering how sick smoke makes me. I'm surprised we still bother complaining, it's just we never dreamed we'd be staying this long :( and the management staff keeping turning over. It's awful. Definitely look elsewhere if you have health issues, kids, and especially if asthma is a concern. But really though, who would be ok with regular second hand smoke? And at these prices? You just can't expect the fresh ocean air that you're paying a premium for here. If you don't need to be here much, and are out having a life this could be a decent place to crash at the end of the day. People staying here while getting their homes reno'ed seem pretty happy. Lots of people just biding their time until their kids don't need the school system. Staff are very nice, it just feels like their hands are tied by the corporation who owns the place. I don't envy that position. The corporation is definitely enjoying the gravy train from the insane housing crisis. Classic sky high rents with the classic apartment home issues. Lots of money on questionable cosmetic upgrades while maintenance has gone down hill over the last several years, they seem to keep cutting maint to save money. The preventative maintenance has suffered. I'd dissuade anyone from getting a bottom floor unit too- it's painfully easy to hear your upstairs neighbors walking... just simply walking around. So you can imagine what young kids sound like. You can probably get used to the creaking and overhead footfall if they're respectful and mindful about quiet hours. The smoke and noise just overshadow the good parts of living here. And that's really unfortunate. Best of luck out there! read more

My boyfriend and I lived here for one year with our dog. We absolutely loved the complex. The location is very convenient, the amenities are great, and the office and maintenance staff are fantastic. Darlene is one of the sweetest and most helpful staff members and we will miss her. We are moving because we needed a yard for our dog and to be closer to a new job. My husband and I (and our dog) moved to Signature Point about three months ago, and we love it here! The grounds are beautiful, clean and well-maintained. Our apartment is located near the back of the complex and the location is very quiet, save for the occasional siren from the fire station down the street. We rented a lower-level Ruby model, which has a two-car garage with direct entry into the unit. So convenient! The apartments are being upgraded in stages; ours still has the original finishes, but our rent is proportionately lower. These are luxury apartments, so yes, they are pricey. But aside from the attached garage, we also have a separate laundry room, and a full size washer and dryer are included. The kitchen comes equipped with a refrigerator. The location can't be beat - we're across the street from a major shopping center with fantastic markets, shops and restaurants, as well as a Cinepolis. The complex also features a pedestrian bridge so we can walk to the shopping center without dealing with the traffic! Kudos to Darlene, Desiree, Gus and the rest of the office and maintenance staff. Quick and courteous responses from all; whenever we need assistance, they get the job done - and fast! Our dog loves to visit the office to get attention and treats from the staff! And we appreciate the pet waste bag stations all over the complex! Only one negative, which was mentioned in a previous review: some residents do not pick up after their pets, despite the aforementioned waste bags available and trash bins all around. I can't fault the management for this, though. There really is no excuse for dog poop lying on the ground right under a filled waste bag station..... We give Signature Point Apartments two thumbs up! Let me tell you about a little story about Signature Point... My fiance and I are moving from NYC to San Diego in 2 weeks. We signed a 13 month lease on September 25th for a move in date of October 22nd. It was extremely important to us to have an upgraded apartment with hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, etc. Our sales associate, Darlene really sold us on this 2 bed/2 bath unit in the most 'desirable' location in the community. The only catch was the unit still needed to be renovated and could possibly take a few extra days to be move in ready. We thought, no big deal since we really wouldn't be in San Diego until the very end of October. We signed the paperwork and thought we were good as gold. A few weeks go by and we hadn't heard a single word from Darlene. I figured we better follow up and make sure everything is on schedule for our October move-in date. Joke was on us! Darlene emails us back apologizing telling us the apartment is taking longer than expected and will not be move in ready until the end of November. A FULL MONTH AFTER OUR INITIAL MOVE IN DATE. The best part was the only option they could provide us as an alternative was to move into a different unit until our unit was complete. We're they going to foot the bill for movers to come a 2nd time??? OF COURSE NOT. What kind of option is that? It turns out the construction company that was working with Signature Point quit and now they have no one to complete the renovations they promised us. I also find it funny that Signature Point knew this information a few weeks before ever letting us know about it. I really wonder what would of happened if we didn't reached out to Darlene and checked on the apartment status. Did they ever plan on letting us know?! PROBABLY NOT. A cross-country move is stressful enough and now thanks to Signature Point's poor communication skills we are scrambling to find a new apartment to move into in the next 2 weeks. They completely screwed us over so BEWARE when signing a lease here!! read more

While I lived in this complex, I requested lot of things to be fixed because here and there the house is too old. In one case, I requested the service six times, and finally gave up. One time, I complained about mold, and it took more than one and half years to resolve the issue. It was quite an unhappy experience. Now they are renovating facilities like the club house, swimming pool, barbeque grill, playground, sand volleyball court, and basketball place. Due to the long period of construction, residents can't use all these facilities without any compensation, which is a very arrogant management system ignoring the resident's life. They recently introduced a new parking system by contracting the 3rd party. Even if a resident is not used to the system, they don't accept any excuses or exceptions while transitioning from the old system to the new one. They ask you to contact the parking company directly. Residents and visitors are paying lots of money for towing fees, and even decal fees on top of the parking space fee. Sometimes I wonder if the parking system and renovation is really to improve the resident's life or to get more money from future residents!! read more

My parents lived here and I come down to visit from college. Everytime I came down there was something wrong. Their neighbors had small dogs that barked constantly: indoors or outdoors. They pooped and peed on the outside patio and in the garage. When it started to smell, my parents told the staff. They did nothing but tell the people to clean up the poop. In order to do so, the tenants used chemicals so strong my parents had to keep their doors and windows closed for a week. My parents called and complained but nothing was done. There were other apartments with similar problems. But they did nothing to make sure the animals were taken care of, or that the apartment was in decent condition considering how much damage animal feces can cause. A bird feeder above my parents unit also dropped red sticky liquid onto the patio. It stained the patio and brought ants. Again, they reported it and nothing was done. Upon move out my parents were charged for pee stains caused by animals. There was no way there could have been pee stains from animals in that apartment. But I guess a dog snuck in every night and peed on the floor... The apartment was falling apart. Every month my parents had to get something fixed. But rarely did anyone stop by on time to make sure it was fixed. They went without a microwave for 4 months. The security of the complexes is my great either. Random people were always walking through the place. People used to rummage through the recycle bins as well. Overall the place was unorganized and not focused on taking care of its apartments and tenants. The staff was inconsiderate and unhelpful. The prices were also raised unexpectedly. My parents were forced to pay the new monthly rate or would be forced to move out. I don't recommend this place for anyone. Please try to find somewhere better to live. read more

The buildings look fairly nice, but the customer service is the worst I've experienced. A guy in a suit "assisted" me and could not have been more disrespectful. His answers were short and lacked care. Maybe it's because I didn't look like I could afford living there. Either way, don't expect to be treated well here. I've waited until we are into our sixth month here so I could give a fair review--in reality I would probably give about a 4.5, but because the people here are worth 5*, let's go with that. Like many folks living here, we had a long distance relocation and decided on this place with limited information beforehand. That said, our experience has been overwhelmingly positive, especially with the staff here. The manager, Brandy, and all the employees, especially Darlene, are phenomenal, all have been friendly and helpful and seem to be truly invested in fostering a positive resident culture. There were some issues with the parking vendor switching over and I was VERY frustrated. In all honesty, I was pretty cranky about it, but the folks here bent over backwards to make things right and to be sure I was satisfied with the resolution instead of treating my like the crabby person I was. The grounds are beautifully maintained and I appreciate the privacy our units get from all the mature trees. Much better than your average box-o-apartments. There are lots of great families here, and the closeness of the schools and the shopping is a huge plus. The events like the summer social, food truck night, goody bags at Halloween--they are small things, but they helped make us feel like our happiness matters to the management and that they are trying to foster a sense of community. The common areas are quite lovely, although I understand they are due for renovation. I hope they keep the same basic setup and aren't shut down for too long, as our family makes good use of the pool, spa, tennis court, playground, sauna, etc. Sometimes it gets crowded on the weekends, but again, nice family tenants, so the more the merrier! The only cons I would mention are the usual ones. Apartments have noise. Less here than other places I've lived, but if you are looking for a soundproof private home, then you probably need a soundproof private home. Also, there are some people who seem not to understand how to care for dogs in small spaces (three small rescue dogs in one space--not a great idea) and there are always those who are inconsiderate about their animal's waste. That said, the management seems to be on top of these situations and the animal waste bags and receptacles are always being tended to, and reminders sent out when residents are not being respectful. My only real complaint is that it seems overpriced given the market and the age of the rental units. I realize that the location puts a premium on the rent, but for what we are paying and the number of competitive properties in the area, I don't expect to deal with carpet that should have been replaced, paint over walls that were not sufficiently cleaned, warped countertop, peeling laminate on cabinetry edges and a small refrigerator. It's nothing immediately noticeable, and we love the location of our unit, so I'm dealing with it, but I would strongly encourage those looking to move here to go for the renovated units. Otherwise, we love Signature Point! read more

I have stayed at Signature Point apartments for the past year and a half. The staff is absolutely wonderful. Darlene is my favorite who really cares for the residents. She is very helpful and goes out of her way in trying to help everyone here. She is always pleasant and she is very passionate about her work. She will always follow up to make sure we are satisfied. She send the sweetest and most caring emails to make sure that we received the best services ever. Brady, manages the property and Jackie is a new member of the team. Jackie has demonstrated excellent service by her cheerful demeanor and acknowledging her residents. Brandy always tries to make living exciting by giving out plants on earth day and other neat ideas to make things enjoyable for the residents. I will highly recommend this complex to whoever wants to live here. It's walking distance from Ralph's and there are some fine places to eat. Torrey Pines High is one of the best schools so if you have a child who is ready for high school this would be a great place to consider living. read more

I don't usually post reviews, but I had a very similar experience to what Jenna B describes below, and I honestly wish I had read her review earlier, because it would have saved me a lot of stress. We thought we were all set to move into a renovated 3 bedroom unit in a quiet part of the complex in mid-December. Darlene assured us that everything was fine and going according to schedule. One day, I happened to call with a question on a day Darlene wasn't working, and a co-worker Aly answered. She told us that, no, that apartment won't be available till mid-January, at the earliest. Our moving date isn't flexible - we're moving cross-country with a toddler - so we weren't too happy about that. Thank goodness we called on a day Darlene wasn't working - otherwise we probably would have shown up on move-in day with a moving truck and no apartment available. The "solution" they offered us was to move into an un-renovated (and seriously worn down, dirty) apartment in a very loud location of the complex, and then move again when a renovated apartment became available. Of course they would not be able to help with any of the expenses of moving a second time. It all seems pretty sketchy - a bait-and-switch where you sign up for a great sounding apartment, and then suddenly once you're committed, only crappy apartments are available (and at prices just as high as the renovated apartment that was promised). I guess they're hoping that people who are moving from far away will just take what they can get? Or they just want the application fees? I'm not sure. The complex seems nice enough and the location is great, but if they're that dishonest with you before you even move in, imagine what it will be like once you're living there. Only sign a lease with them if you have seriously flexible moving dates, or if you can see the exact apartment that you'll be renting and you're satisfied with the condition that it's in. read more

There has never been a lag in service, always attention to detail and an uncompromising commitment to exceptional customer service. My family and I truly enjoyed our stay at Signature Point. Our apartment was comfortable, clean and very up-to-date in style, it felt like home! We enjoyed the privacy and community we felt part of. The grounds were well maintained and very beautiful. The spa and pool area are kept safe, clean and comfortable. My daughter enjoyed using them most days, it was a delight for her to swim so much. The gym is clean and well stocked with the latest in equipment. And, the office was easily accessible and pleasant to use when sending a fax or email. Overall, I would highly recommend Signature Point as a fine place to stay for my friends and family! read more

Awful customer service. I called to inquire about the apartment, they have one price on Craigslist but in reality it is more expensive. Plus they charge extra fee for parking, etc. The woman hang up on me when I started asking questions. read more

I recently moved from Signature Point to relocate for work. I must say the 6 months of living here were amazing. I lived in there Sapphire floor plan with no one above or below you. The staff made me feel very comfortable when entering the leasing office. Also they were doing renovations to the apartment homes and they were very nice. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone I knew looking to move to the Carmel Valley area. read more

We lived here for 1 year. We loved that you could have pets. Also a two car garage. They have a great work out facility-never very crowded. Nice equipment! A beautiful pool, jacuzzi & sauna/showers. The location is awesome. You can walk across the street for dinner,movie,shopping or a great massage. The staff are so kind & friendly. The location is very quiet -lots of great places to walk if you have a pet. I would highly recommend living here. read more

I have lived here for a year and a half and it has been a very positive experience. I can't say enough about the staff -- friendly, warm and sincere. Maintenance blows my mind in terms of how promptly they respond - I haven't had much, but the three times I did the response was immediate. The apartment is beautiful inside and I love the spacious balcony the master bedroom overlooks. Spending time at the pool area is like being on vacation. I love it. read more
