I contacted Silas to clean my 2000 Tundra that needed a lot of TLC esp. from mold following a hot and humid summer. The FIRST and MAIN thing I told him was I wanted the interior clean of smells and that I hated sweet smelling cleaners that masked the smells. He could not have agreed with me more. He said I was "his man." I agreed to pay the $275 fee.
First I will say that Silas worked hard for 7 hours and the exterior looks great. He made my headlights look new and added a special product for some spots on the hood (no extra charge for these, he said).
HOWEVER, as he was cleaning, I walked outside and immediately smelled a sickening sweet scent in the air. He had used the product on my upholstery. I couldn't believe it. He told me it would go away, NOT the point, and if I had an issue with it, he would come back. That night, a Monday, I messaged him that I was very upset by the smell. He didn't reply. On Friday, I messaged him again and said that since I had not heard back, I would have to take the next step of contacting the Better Business Bureau and 12 On Your Side. I ended on a kind note. I also asked for $100 back since he did the exact opposite of what we agreed on. Moments later he called me and said my message was threatening. I disagreed, asking him what I was supposed to do. Then he said he would come back and fix it. After the call, I messaged him and asked for a timeframe for the Monday we agreed on. I never heard back and he never came.
Now, I am left with an awful smell in my truck that makes me feel ill. I can't even sit in it (was considering selling once I had it cleaned). Now I have to use a product I found that looks the right one ($25, money back guarantee) and do it myself. I also discovered that my steering wheel was moldy after he was done, see pic.
Silas says he has many satisfied clients, and this is great. But anyone can mess up. The "righteous" thing to do is to humble yourself to admit it and make it right. read more
