Take this review with a grain of salt-- it's strictly relative to all the other baitshops we've…read morebeen to. That said, the store is objectively quite good. The people who work there are nice (which is surprisingly unusual for a baitshop in Ontario), the prices are good (ditto; its a great spot to stockup on extra tackle and such en-route to your fishing spot), and the minnows are quite vigorous. In our experience driving across Ontario, you usually get to pick one of those things. No other shop we've seen has managed to hit all three. We've gotten fairly resigned to a sizable percentage (sometimes half) of the minnows dying before we get a chance to use them, but that just isn't the problem here. Every single unused minnow we bought is still alive and well in my cooler over a day later, and aside from a few that seem to have died from oxygen deprivation while we were changing fishing spots, we didn't lose any en-route. The only cons are: the place is a little bit hard to find (it's behind the Husky, and in a little corner unit that's a bit hard to spot), and occasionally their hours change a bit. So you may want to call in to be sure they're open at times. Still, the location is handy if you're going up North from the GTA to fish, and they're near Bass Pro (their reputation is good enough that the fellows at Bass Pro were the ones that originally directed us here), so its a great one-stop spot to replenish equipment as well as bait and tackle.

This is one of my first stops when I shop at Vaughan Mills. Most of my coats and jackets are from…read morehere, and I find the quality is fantastic. This outlet usually has 30% off the regular price, which makes a huge difference for my skinny wallet! One of my favourite fall jackets had a large rip in the lining. I brought it in for repair and they didn't even ask for the receipt. I was given a repair ticket and informed it would take 6-8 weeks. It was a bit confusing though, with several calls for a return authorization number, in order to follow up. When I went to pick up the jacket, it took the staff a very long time to find it. Thankfully, my wife wrote my name, address, and telephone number on a luggage tag, and looped it around the inside hook. The staff said my name wasn't anywhere on the jacket, but they noticed the tag while searching. I was also looking for the McMurdo winter coat for many years, a very popular jacket, and finally gave up. I found a similar one, and it is very warm, especially for our recent -28 C weather! The rain jacket that I bought a few months ago also came in handy during a massive downpour. I noticed the rain repelled off nicely. The service is friendly, but I suggest coming on weekdays if possible.

I was here for pre Black Friday sale and they still have a lot of sizes available without the crowds. Great price and good products! This review is not about the quality of their products; it is specific to the Yorkdale store and the retail experience it affords. The store is rather spacious with a decent array of Arcteryx's most popular items on display. There is plenty of room to walk around such that even when the store is busy, you probably won't feel cramped. The first few sections display some of their most popular insulated pieces and shells, e.g., the Cerium LT, Atom LT/AR, and the Beta shells. Moving further into the store you find some pants and all-in-one jackets, as well as other assorted pieces like running gear and lightweight shells. At the very back their climbing harnesses are displayed as well as their "24" collection of urban clothing. I don't think I saw too many packs or other types of enthusiast-oriented outdoor gear at the store, and was disappointed to see that their inventory was rather limited for an Arcteryx retail store. There were a few pieces I was looking for that they did not have. All in all, it seems like the store was targeted to appeal to the masses, the average person walking around Yorkdale. If you're an enthusiast and know what you're looking for, call ahead and see if they have the item in stock. Otherwise, you're better off shopping online where the selection is larger and you're more likely to find discounts. I don't know yet if this store ever runs promos or sales. Service was pleasant and the girl did her best to help me. She had been decently trained but I could tell she was rather lacking in actual real-world experience using most of the products, so she was mostly giving me standard sales pitches and textbook knowledge. This is unfortunate as you can often get more informed service at specialized outdoor retailers like MEC, Sail, Atmosphere, and maybe even Sporting Life.
