Big box stores have pretty much everything you need, but navigating the aisles is a nightmare. You could circle the store three times before you find what you're looking for. So when I was given the task of buying some scrapbook material for a friend's wedding shower, I was absolutely dreading going to the store. That is, until I remembered passing by this store on a recent walk. Hoping I didn't have to go anywhere else, I stopped inside. It's like a scrapbooking heaven in there. Plenty of different papers, stamps, stickers, tape and anything else related to scrapbooking that you can think of. Of course, I had no idea what the "right" thing to get was, but luckily the woman behind the counter was super helpful. I told her what I needed and she helped me out, explaining what each thingamabob does and what would work best. She saved me like 20 minutes of staring at this stuff and looking like a doofus. She also saved me a trip to the big box store. Hooray! If you're looking for scrapbook stuff, I highly recommend stopping here first. It's a small shop, but they have a lot of stuff and you'll get attention from the staff instead of trying to hunt someone down. Check the hours before you go, because they close different hours each day.

Sometimes the vendors you end up choosing end up moving businesses and that's exactly what happened with Kehoe. We met with 4 different decor companies for my son's recent bar mitzvah and opted to go with Kehoe because we absolutely loved Mal- her energy, her warmth and (most of all) her fresh ideas. She was lovely and easy to work with throughout the entire process so I was bummed to learn a month before our big event that she she had moved companies. However, my planner assured me that we were in very good hands because Tom Kehoe was taking over our event and that most of our event was already in production. I guess this is the benefit of going with a large company like Kehoe. I do think things were a little more chaotic in the few weeks leading up to the bar mitzvah as Tom and his team (we mostly worked with Sydney) got up to speed. We had to redirect with some proofs at the last minute, but the finished product was more amazing than I even expected. The tennis decor they designed was youthful, classy and absolutely breathtaking. Even big sister (my 15 year old daughter) who is tough to impress walked in and said "WOW- this is actually really cool." And while there were many amazing wow moments from the night the #1 comment I received over and over and over again was that decor was unbelievable. It was definitely pricey and tough to swallow spending what we spent on what's essentially a 13 year olds birthday party, but I gave the same budget to 3 other well known decor companies and the budget went further with Kehoe than any of the others. And I thought their ideas were also more innovative and appropriate for a 13 year old boy. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased. I'm bummed that Mal herself moved on, but would definitely consider using Kehoe again providing there is another designer who is a creative and fun to work with.

When I first met Tristin a few weeks ago I found myself admiring her adorable vintage dress and cool accessories...where could I find an outfit like that? And before I knew it Tristin was in my closet and joining me on shopping trips. Tristin is a wardrobe stylist (I believe that's the proper term for it) and based on her AMAZING sense of style she couldn't have a job more perfect for her! I believe her prices vary with what you hire for, but it seems to be about $60 an hour...and boy is she worth it! Tristin started off in my closet last week helping me organize a bit...I was ready to donate the old stuff I don't wear anymore, but half of the stuff I was about to put into the trash bag Tristin would pair it with a cute tunic in my closet or something else that I would never dream of and all of a sudden I had all these new outfits! She even pulled out the scissors and started cutting shirts (with my approval of course) to turn them into something cool and trendy again. I love this girl! After deciding what I needed for fall (actually I really don't need anything...more like WANT for fall) Tristin and I made our way to a bunch of thrift shops on Milwaukee. I typically stay away from thrift stores because I don't even know where to start, but that's just because I've never had Tristin at my side. She found the cutest things on those racks and at the BEST prices...seriously, I brought home a marc jacobs jacket for $40! I had given Tristin a budget ahead of time and she really did a great job of staying within it...I was about to grab a cute camisole for $50 at one of our non thrift store shops, Free People, but she quickly reminded me that I didn't need it and we could find a comparable camisole for much less...and here I was thinking it was a great deal! Who knew that paying a wardrobe stylist would actually save money??? I walked away with some great clothes today for my fall wardrobe and can't wait to go shopping with Tristin again! A week ago, I've heard rumblings of Gucci doing 50% off sale. Being a sucker for good deals, I…read moretried to find out when the private sale is going to start. I called all the local Gucci boutiques here in Southern California, but the sales associate won't divulge any information. I was getting frustrated because I know shoppers from the east coast are able to get their orders in. I contacted Christine asking if she knows whether her local Gucci has started the sale. Christine responded quickly telling me that she will find out. Note that this was after 9pm pacific, so it was really late for her, but she responded anyways! The next day, she texted me confirming that the sale has started, so I sent her pics of items I want. Christine did not waste any time, she went to the store and got the items I was dying to get! Thank you so much for getting the items that I wanted! If you are looking for a remote personal shopper - Christine is your gal! She is fast, efficient, and communicates effectively!
