Outside of being a little expensive, I really like this stationary store. They have a great mix of items, presents, nice paper, invitations, etc and while they didn't have the exact thing I wanted, they did give me enough options to slightly tweak my plans. Staff was very very friendly and helpful and didn't mind that I poked around a bit looking for the perfect item. Price-wise, there is a range, but this does skew on the high end side. Great for a nice present or a treat for yourself. I'll definitely be back when I need stationary or related items. read more

I've had embossed invitations done here years ago- beautiful and for a reasonable cost. I stopped in this week looking for little gifts and treasures to put in a few teenage Easter baskets. There were a few items but not a big selection. There is a nice selection of cards, wrapping papers, stationary and lotions. I was greeted warmly by the owner who was working on something at the computer but got up and walked to the front of the store to welcome me and offer assistance. That was nice. The scent of the store was a little strong for me (maybe it was the lotions and other scented items, not sure) so I only stayed a few minutes. read more

Great shop because they offer solutions at every price point. I had a nice time looking through sample books of stationery and found several possibilities. And the staff are wonderful. There was a moment of unrequited love when I found a gorgeous Kate Spade notecard in the signature green of her handbags. We weren't a match. I'm still a little sad about it. Do you ever talk to someone and the mere sound of their voice makes you feel completely blissed out and lightheaded? Is that what they mean by warm and fuzzy? I don't know what it's called but after spending two minutes talking to the nice woman who works here I felt like I entered a relaxing spa. I'm sure this place is 5-stars fantastic for people who want to do wedding invitations, baby announcements, or stuff like that. I like to write letters, send postcards, and give the occasional birthday card. For those things, Target or Jewel-Osco is superior. Let me explain. Fitzgerald's is cute and small. There is a small section of greeting cards (mostly humorous), and another small section for occasion cards (e.g. wedding and birthday). In the middle of the store there are a few novelty gifts (e.g. super expensive soap and candles). I've gone in a couple times to buy cards and small gifts. I would have liked to buy greeting card sets or books of postcards but came up dry. While I was there, I saw other clients planning their special events that required large quantities of cards (such as the occasions I previously listed). It really seems as if the store is focused on bulk clients. For my needs, I've experienced better. read more

Sorry to disagree, but I'm not particularly charmed by this store. I prefer Paper Source, chain that it may be, right around the corner. The quality of the items here is good, and the various pretty notecards and stationery sets have lured me in more than once. However, the salespeople seem determined to be unhelpful, despite me being the only person in the store. That fact, the steep prices, and the lack of enough selection of cute occasion cards left me pretty disenchanted with the place. Especially as there are something like 3 stationery shops that I know of in a 1/2 mile radius of that area. read more

I've been shopping here since it opened almost twenty years ago. They always have what I need if I want a special bday or graduation card. I usually use them for invitations --I'm not a fan of the evite. Colleen is always extremely helpful in finding the perfect invitation and she takes the time to help me word the invite and add the special touches I enjoy. I think the comparisons to The Paper Source are unfair as while some of their merchandise is the same, their inventories and strengths are totally different. I've purchased Shea hand cream as a treat for myself from them before with no problem. When they are out I've asked multiple times for them to notify me when reorder. No follow through or even attempt to call to say that it's been ordered or back in stock. Stopped here with my sister who needed a custom address stamp made. It's a clean, smaller space with a nice selection of stationary & cards. I found the sale shelves held a treasure of awesome items at really great prices. The custom stamps are affordable and the turn around time is reasonable. Have used this store for invitations to graduations, weddings and anniversaries. I love the personal touch. Collen never rushes me and helps me wade through the myriad of products out there. She is intuitive and smart. You can't get this kind of service everywhere and I appreciate the attention to detail and the care in cultivating a customer. The prices are the same as any other big-box or chain store. Now, you might be able to get a cheaper product online, but you won't get the professional advice and care you get here. I will never purchase anything from this store! I walked in after leaving Paper Source which by the way was a wonderful experience. My daughter in law and I went in and I was approached by a middle aged woman with bad skin. She said hi and as I said hi she quickly pointed out a rack saying that was their 75% off rack. It was beyond offensive since she didn't point anything else out and since we were prepared to purchase $1,000 worth of wedding invitations, save the dates, envelopes, etc. I was in no way interested in her 75% off junk in her unkept store and the one thing I did see in that store that I liked I didn't purchase because of this ignorant woman. read more

I love Fitzgerald's - they have a really nice selection of cards and gifts. I especially love picking up cards here for Father's Day and Mother's Day because they generally have unique choices. On my most recent trip I saw that they are now selling monogrammable jewelry - bracelets, necklaces, etc. Very cute. I also purchased birthday invitations here for my daughters. I ordered wedding programs from her, and she did such a great job I had her do several other signs and printed materials we needed for the wedding. The employees try very hard to help locate an item if it isn't in stock at the store. I love all the lotions, gifts that are located in the center of the store. Colleen is great to work with. I wanted an invitation that was different than the average wedding invitation. I had a vision and Colleen helped me in bringing my vision to a reality. I was amazed at how many people called or text me to tell me they were the most beautiful invitations they have ever seen. I did design the whole invitation from the ground up and Colleen was so patient with me during the process. My invitations were pricey but that is because I wanted a rhinestone broach on each one. The invitations I originally wanted were from a company in Boston and were $30 each. Colleen helped me to custom make my invitations and they were only $10 each and were much more beautiful than the original ones. I absolutely LOVE this store. Yes, other chains have nice cards and stationary, but I prefer to shop locally and give notes and cards that are a bit more unique than the ones found at a drugstore. When I got engaged last August, I knew Fitzgerald's would be the only place I went for invitations. My mom has gone to the store periodically over the years, and I a stationary dork. Can you buy wedding invitations online? Sure. Will they be as nice as mine turned out? Nope. I'm 26, and at the age where going to weddings fills up a lot of my spare time, so I see a LOT of wedding invitations. That being said, I had something very specific in mind and really hoped that I wouldn't have to settle for something that wasn't my taste. When my mom and I explained to Colleen what I was looking for, she thought about it for 30 seconds then started pulling books off the shelves and flipping to specific pages. Every option fit my criteria, and I could have ordered them probably within 30 minutes. Placing our order was a breeze, the turnaround time was fantastic, and I received so many compliments on our wedding invitations. My husband is a graphic designer, and he was more than happy with the way everything turned out. We worked with Colleen - she is incredibly knowledgeable about her inventory, has great ideas for personalization, and always kept our budget in mind.
