I don't know what this lady did to my hair but OMG! I actually got my hair done at the Orange location and was happy she could take an appointment on Sunday. I got "The Works" since I had been living in my weave for the past few years and hadn't visited a salon in years to actually care for my own hair. I had a lot of natural hair that hadn't really been conditioned or trimmed in a long time and i had no idea what to do with it. Before going I would shampoo my hair at home and it was a battle between me and my comb afterward but here, it was a breeze. After I left the salon my hair was soft, smooth and blowing in the wind. I was afraid to shampoo at home later, but to my surprise my hair was still soft and very manageable after shampooing at home! I will definitely be back in the VERY near future so I can continue with her treatments so I can keep my hair looking great and as healthy as possible!! read more

Guys! Tammy is amazing. I have had my hair woes my entire life.. I've lived all over the world and gotten my hair done (and messed up) by MANY professionals. I've had extensions, perms, transitioning and now my naturally curly hair. I am all into my hairs health now and really want to start working hard to grow my hair long. I researched for 2 weeks before coming across Tammy's Salon. I wear my hair naturally curly but sometimes straighten it. It has been highlighted a couple of times so there was a lot of damage on the ends. I was nervous to go to Tammy to receive her signature "Taming treatment" because she developed the product herself and there wasn't a WHOLE lot of research available to me as a consumer about the specific product. BUT LET ME TELL YOU. It was a blessing to find Tammy and to have her do the Taming treatment on my hair. My ends were fried and my hair was rough even when straightened. It never actually even stayed straight. It would swell and poof within minutes. I arrived at the salon and Tammy and her assistant were waiting for me. Her assistant shampooed and detangled me then Tammy did the treatment, blew me out and flat ironed me. She also convinced me to get a trim (which I desperately needed and it changed my LIFE!!) They served me a couple cups of coffee and even happily cleaned up a cup I spilled on the floor (oops!!) we had great conversation and Tammy was open to discussing the process of developing her product. She genuinely loves what she is doing and is also really knowledgeable. Sometimes it's hard to trust people or products that don't come from big label companies, but honestly those companies are the ones who we should hesitate in believing their products. Tammy's products and systems were developed with love, hard work, and excellence, and she really cares about the health of your hair. Overall I am so happy with my experience, and I will be referring everyone I know to Tammy. If you're hesitating, just book an appointment online you won't regret it! I really wanted to like this place. I went in a bit nervous last Saturday because it was my first time at this location. I decided to try a different place from I love lulu, since it came highly recommended by a friend. During my consultation, I asked Tammy how high of heat she uses with the flat iron. She told me 450. I knew that would be to hot for my hair. I asked if she could do 350 instead. That's what I have had at I Love LuLu for the last 4 years without damage to my hair. She told me 350 was too low. After my blow out, I asked again if 450 was too high. I was a bit nervous because I've had my hair damaged by heat in on sitting g before. She told me she's used that setting and never has had an issue before. Well my hair in the silkout turned out great. But, after I washed my hair I saw how badly damaged my hair was. I even did a second wash, and left shampoo in as she had suggested, over IG, and no change. She did offer for me to come back in 4 weeks, but after my second was with no change, I've decided not to. My curl pattern is completely destroyed. In some places it won't even curl. I'm completely devastated! Why a stylist won't listen to a patron is beyond me when it comes to heat damage. Now I'm having to pay top dollar for Olaplex treatments in "hopes" of it repairing the damage and minimize breakage. I've been living in Cali now for a year. In all this time I haven't been to any hair salons because I was nervous about getting my hair done by someone new but I had to go because my hair was becoming a nightmare. I researched silk press and I found the SilkOut bar. They said they were the best in LA so I figured I'd try it out. I got "The Works on Natural Curly/Coily hair". I booked it with Tammy but I actually ended up getting my hair done by her assistant Kawanna. She must have known that I was nervous because she reassured me that she knew what she was doing. And when I tell you she was not lying, that woman knew EXACTLY what to do with my hair! I was so tired when I walked in at 7am but when I saw my hair done it woke me up! My hair is so silky and smooth! It feels amazing. It's been over 24 hours and I still look like I just stepped out of the salon! Being natural for ten years I can say that I have NEVER seen my hair like this while natural. In fact I have never seen my hair like this ever in my life. No exaggeration. I send my 12 year old to Crystal. My daughter is extremely sensitive to getting her hair done with respects to pain. Her tolerance is very low. This is her first time having anyone do her hair outside of her mommy. She was very nervous. However, Crystal was great! She was very patient with her, and my daughter left there so happy. She said the whole experience with pain free. My daughter has a ton of hair that is not easy to get through. Crystal did it! She was kind, fast, on time (which is very important to me) and extremely professional. We are big fans. No more tears at our house when it comes time to straightening hair. read more

I did not have a good experience here when the salon was located in Hermosa Beach. One time I came home after leaving the salon and my fiance said "I thought you were getting your hair done". In addition, they advertise "no overbooking" but it's simply not true. The last time I stepped foot in the salon, I was on time, Tammy started my hair 40 minutes late because she was doing someone else's hair for "trade" (not even a paying customer). And since she stared 40 minutes late I had to leave without her flat ironing my hair so I would be on time to work and she still tried to charge me the full amount. She has a attitude and I would never recommend a friend or family member going to her. I think there is a reason she has been at 3 different locations in only a few years. I had been looking for a new hair salon when my sister tagged me on their Instagram page. I noticed they were running a special on Groupon and that sparked my curiosity. I purchased the Groupon and scheduled my appointment through their website- efficient and easy! When I arrived on the day of my appointment, I met Simone, a very friendly face. What I love is that she asked me while shampooing me, "Tell me what your hair goals are? What would you like to achieve?" I was thrown, because in all my years I've never had a stylist ask me this. It let me know that she was not only interested in my hair for that moment, but she also wanted to positively influence my hair health/care once I left the salon. I recently visited the Silkout Bar for a taming treatment on my thick kinky curly hair. I could not have asked for a better salon experience. She made made sure that I was comfortable and she was gentle on my hair. I can tell from just one visit, that she was able to restore my hair to a better state of health. She definitely knows her hair science and focuses not only on the hair looking and feeling good but also flourishing and becoming healthy again. Even though I am a curly natural, I left with my hair straight. My hair has never been this straight from straightening in my entire life, not even with a relaxer, in addition it is not dry and it is very shiny and soft. even after I left to go home in the humid weather, my hair remained straight, bouncy and shiny.
