Response to Owner: I give zero stars for your response on 1/5/25. I'm sorry you didn't recollect who I was (that's not important), but took the time to respond to the YELP review, instead of following up on the appointment you promised for 1/6/25. This is laughable. My review was about your unprofessionalism and lack of consideration for my time, money and potential future business. If you tell me you will get back to me about an appointment, that is what I expect. I had a full on conversation with you about walk-ins on Sat. 12/28. After stating you didn't take walk-ins (not a problem), you asked if I could come in the next day, which was Sunday. I replied that Sunday was not good for me. Your final statement was that you would get back with me later in the day to make an appointment for some time on Friday, Jan. 6th. I hadn't heard from you and followed up with a text. NO RESPONSE. You texted me back the next day (Sunday morning) stating that when you had downtime, you would get back with me. I replied with an "Ok." I gave you the benefit of the doubt, understanding that you may be busy, and decided to wait a few days. NO RESPONSE. In our conversation and text, you never directed me to your website to make an appointment nor a consultation. Quite frankly, you should not make the assumption that "all NEW and and existing clients" know how to reach you and book an appointment. I was a potentially NEW client and reached out to you via phone and text, old school style, with good intentions. Before spending my money on someone's website, I want to hear from the person whom I don't know on the other end of the internet. WARNING Unfortunately the business Jocelyn is running here is not following basic consumer rights and guidelines while following unethical practices. I have sat in Jocelyn's chair on 3 occasions and Just know that when a product or service she is providing does not go well she will not take accountability or even validate her negligence. Which is ironic because she prides on giving good quality hair practices and products, when the reality is far from that. It's disturbing to see the black community support black business as they tear the same people down paying their bills by providing low quality service and products. I paid Joycelyn a couple hundred dollars for a 22" curly hair texture that I was very specific about regarding the specifications. She sold me on how she professionally sales hair weave and clip ins that are of the highest grade quality hair and will "last a lifetime". I was swayed by what seemed like a genuine hair pitch and also considering her to be my trusted hair stylist at the time. To my disappointment after paying her a couple hundred she quoted for the hair she gave me some loose clip in that apparently she didn't have any packaging for. When I took them home to analyze them, from the touch the hair was breaking and shedding. The strands also felt very course, not like any other Virgin or human hair I've ever encountered. I attempted to dampen the hair and use Design Essentials conditioner. The hair completely matted and the curls were straight and stringy, completely unusable. I sent photos to Jocelyn and her first response was "I've never had any quality issues with my supplier" as if me being a paying customer was expected to pitty this disappointment & inconvenience. She has refused to pay me back the full amount for the hair and for a future appointment that was booked before I was scammed through the insufficient weave provided. Instead of sending back to the money a basic industry standard she decided to make up services that she did not provide or overcharged for previously. It is clear she obviously needs the money otherwise she would not be illegally withholding money that is not hers. So consider that. I have attached photos for receipts I hate seeing people being taken advantage of and mislead, especially amongst our own community. For existing and prospective clients be warned when doing any type of business transaction with this individual/ entity. read more

See JAE! She has my hair laid, snatched, flawless, gorgeous and all that is beautiful! Check out the picture, Proof is in the pudding! She takes her time, while still being efficient so you aren't in the salon all day. You can tell she cares with each step. I got a sew in w/ leave out, and she blended my hair with the extensions VERY well. Along the way of the appointment she would mention healthy haircare tips, which were MUCH appreciated. Jae is my go-to girl. I've been seeing her for over 2 years now and she always makes sure my hair is amazing. I have natural hair but like get it straightened and wear weave every now and then and she provides great advice and recommendations on proper treatments for my hair. I am a "mature" woman who has been a client of Jae Angela for several years. I appreciate that she gets to know her clients and what they like or don't like. She offers suggestions but never takes it upon herself to push a style or hair color if the client doesn't want it. I am a basic pull my hair back in a ponytail type person. Exactly a year ago I was trying to transition from straight processed hair to my natural hair. I went to Jae for a consultation and she assured me she could assist me with my transition but also confirmed how damaged my hair was. It was extremely dry and my ends were destroyed. So I scheduled an appointment with her immediately. The frustration caused by the breakage caused me to snap and out of impulse I drove to drive home to my parents that weekend and has my dad cut off all my straight ends. The big chop was the epitome of bitter sweet. I was excited to get rid of the processed hair but for the first time since I was a baby, I had no more than about three inches of hair. I was extremely scared because I had no idea what my curl pattern would be, what products to use on it, or what styles would work. I was so scared I had Jae install a full head weave in hopes a protective style would help my hair grow a few quick inches. The weave worked out well but Jae told me I really needed to clean up my ends to really see my hair texture. I trusted her even though I dreaded the thought of putting scissors to my head again. Jae kept her word and just trimmed my ends which was a relief. I've been to so many hairdresser that claim they're going to just trim my hair and end up cutting off over an inch. Jae was right the trim really brought out my hair texture so now in between seeing her I am able to were my hair natural. We have a routine now, I see her at least once every three weeks so she can flat iron and clean up my ends when needed. She also checks on what products I am using and informs me if she thinks they are working or not, based on how my hair feels and looks. It is now a year from when I first came to her and my hair is back at the length it was before my big chop but it is extremely healthy. It is no longer dry, my ends are always kept up, and I have recently colored my hair. Jae now regularly touches up my hair color so it always looks fresh and my hair is never dry. I absolutely love the color because it is identical to the picture I sent her when I first asked her to do it. That's another thing I love about Jae, she delivers. Not only is she honest with you and tells you if your hair is healthy or long enough when you ask for color or a certain style, if she can do it she executes it well. I noticed that with me and all my friends I referred to her. She told them if their hair was ready for color or not, she gave them honest advice on how to style their hair, and she will always tell you, she is not a braid specialist. Jae can create a great beehive for the weaves she installs but she does not consider herself a braid artist; she is a beautician...and a damn good one at that.
