Horrible service and the dispatch coordinator was unnecessarily rude and loud. I called the night before to see if I can rearrange a ride early in the AM. I was staying close to where my surgery appointment the next morning. The first guy said it's no problem just call 20 minutes before ride is needed. What a weight off. Called in the morning 30 minutes prior and the dispatch woman laid into saying she doubted that will get a ride. Further she went to tell me that credit is nit preferred but cash gets my odds better. I explained the night before and she told me I was wrong and whoever said that was wrong. She hung after she rudely placed my ride. I went to Lyft, they confirmed with 10 minutes for a ride pick it up. I tried several times to cancel with no luck. But, they never called me to verify a ride. Last week, I was in DC to attend a meeting held at the Walter Washington Convention Center. On Friday, January 20, 2023, I checked out of my hotel, the Henley Park Hotel, at 926 Massachusetts Ave NW and the doorman hailed me a cab to Ronald Regan Washington National Airport at approximately 10:50AM. It was cab J791 of the Silver Cab Company. The cab was in poor shape and had not been maintained. We had issues closing the trunk after placing my bag in it but eventually the doorman was able to close it. The driver did not have his taxi license displayed so I cannot identified him by name or operator license number. There was no meter displayed so I have no idea what the actual fare cost. We arrived at the airport a little after 11 AM and he said the fare totaled $15 and change. I presented my credit card for payment. He demanded cash instead. When I told him I didn't have any cash, he proceeded to cuss at me. He again demanded cash. I told him I was on a business trip and my company required the use of the card. He begrudgingly pulled out a Square device and said it would $17 and change. He swiped the card and handed it back. I asked for a receipt. He refused saying the system would send a receipt to my email. I told him not likely since my email wasn't in his system. He said it was tied to my credit card. I said my work email is not tied to my company card (no receipt was ever received via email from Silver Cab Co.). I again asked for a paper receipt and said my employer set those requirements. He began insulting and cussing me again. I was becoming a bit concerned for my safety at this point and started to look around for a security or police officer. He then pushed a blank piece of paper at me and told me to get out of the cab. I asked what he actually charged to the card. He said $19. I exited the cab and took pictures of the cab. After removing my bag from the trunk, I attempted to close it. Again, the trunk lid would not close. He rounded the end of the taxi aggressively screaming at me to leave it alone. I backed away and entered the airport. It was 11:09 AM. I called my employer's bank after exiting the taxi. He had charged $19.77 after giving me an original cost of $15 plus change. I attempted to call the number of the cab service displayed on the side of the vehicle but no one answers. An option for voicemail is not given. Attached are pictures of the cab in question. Avoid this cab company if possible. This company and its driver are in violation of several customer rights as published by DC's Dept of For Hire Vehicles. read more

This is an update to my first review. If I could give 0 stars I would. True story. I decided to give them 1 more chance and reserve a taxi. Apparently you can't reserve a taxi for a specific time (a lie) and then they said it would be 20-30 minutes before they could get one. They said they'd call me back when one would be available. This was on 12/5/2022. It's 12/20/2022 and no one has contacted me. Needless to say I got a Lyft to the airport. Never again. read more

When you call the phone number listed, the answering message is "Taxi, Taxi" which is a bit surprising as you may expect to hear "Silver Cab Co." I called the night before to make a reservation for a 5 am pick-up. The next morning I called at 4:30 am to reconfirm my reservation and I'm glad I did as the dispatcher showed no record of it. A driver did show up at 5 am and I was able to make it to the Metro station to catch the train to the airport. Decided to write a review today because I was left stranded... AGAIN! First time, someone else down the street took my cab I called for. Called company which say they are Taxi Taxi and they said they will suspend the driver for the day and send me another one. Mine you, it takes forever for cab to show up anyway. The longest I've waited was almost a hour when the automated message says one will be there shortly. Speaking to operator, they are most likely mean making me feel like I'm inconveniencing them! FYI, I ended up taking the bus. Second time is this morning I call for a cab and use their automated system to select my address and I get same message, one will be there shortly. 30 minutes later I decided to call back and operator says one hasn't been sent out yet because they have yet to find someone. She says service is picking up now and to call back in 10 minutes. Um, it would have been nice to know rather than wait 30 minutes and I have to call THEM to find out that one WILL NOT be here shortly. This company won't fool me 3 times. Do yourself a favor and look for a taxi elsewhere and save yourself the lack of communication, bad customer experiences, and unreliable taxi service. I never take the time to EVER write a review. I guess I had time to since one hour later and no taxi ever came. Call a taxi from this company and plan to have no reasonable expectation on when you'll arrive at your destination. Be warned. My first experiences with this company were fine. However, things deteriorated quickly. I called for a cab on multiple occasions to pick me up from the Marc station. It's likely that I got into the wrong cab and was not at my destination when the driver arrived. I can understand their frustration, but there's a line. On my way home I received a call from a blocked number. I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize. However, the caller left a voicemail. This voicemail included cursing and threats. The caller stated that "the next time you call for a cab, you better wait for your cab" (I left out the cursing). I plan to contact the company directly to file a complaint and see if I can find out who they sent to pick me up. Please think twice before using this company's services. Poor service is one thing, but harassment is another. read more

The operator came on the line hung up on the driver twice. After calling back he was told his English was not good enough to process the card. I am outraged by the treatment the driver received. I called the company the night before for a 5 am pick up. At 5 am I called them to ask them where the taxi was. They said "2 miles away" but 11 min later someone finally came. The most aggravating part is that the driver said I wasn't in the system which is why I didn't have a pick up at 5. If I didn't call for a status check, it seems like my cab would have never come. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. If there was a no star rating, I would present this company with it. Following an emergency visit to an ER, I was given their number to get back to my hotel. The receptionist was rude, but that was the best of my experience. The driver would not listen to me for the address I was being picked up from, went to the wrong location and then called to yell at me for not being out front! After several minutes of his ranting, I once again gave him the correct address, and he arrived within 10 minutes. Upon entering the taxi, which was filthy, I received only yelling, screaming, and verbal abuse. He actually called me a liar because I wanted to pay with a credit card and not cash. Silver cab has some kind of promotional going on which they are having "pitched" through Metro Access. They have the Metro Access people telling Metro Access consumers that you may even qualify for a free ride depending on where you are going in Maryland. So you are given a number to call. When you call that number you are given piecemeal information when they are interviewing you and putting you in the system and told call this other number after a few days and tell them you have been approved for the free rides promotional program depending on where you are going and the ride must begin and end in Maryland. So after 5 days I called this other number I was given for Silver cab and told them what the previous man said. The first time I called this next number given to me, that person had a hard time finding me in their system but finally did. However, I was told I would have to call back in a few days because certain information hadn't showed up in the system, but, I was given an explanation of how the system worked. "Every ride would not be free. It depended on whether it was a doctor's office or something like that". I understood all rides couldn't be free but I did want to know how one got the free ones too. So, I called back today May 30, 2018 and got this surly smart aleck barely speaking above a whisper, which is so unprofessional in and of itself. He smarts off saying to me "nobody's giving out free rides. You have to use the program first." So I told him that I am willing to do that; I was just repeating to you what I was told to say. I said you're speaking to me as if I has just calling for handouts. I was told to mention the free rides promotional and to tell you I was eligible for them. The program was not explained to me. So the guy I spoke to today, Wednesday, May 30, 2018 went on to speak in this barely audible voice, but, I heard him say "then a letter is sent out". I asked in surprise, "a letter is sent?" I called to schedule a cab through Metro Access Program. I was put on hold from 10:45 until a rude and unprofessional Iesha got on the phone 11:28. Iesha told me I could have called back when I questioned why I was on hold so long. I was told that the person who scheduled my cab on Saturday didn't do their job and I wasn't in their system. Rude, obnoxious, and my friend told me they hung up on her after she asked to speak to their manager. All customer complaints go to voicemail, nothing is great nor fantastic about this company. Hailed down a Silver Cab last night, he tried to price gouge me on trip to Arlington from DC. The other guys were charging $30-35$, he wanted $50. As I was getting out of the cab I noticed I left my phone in the backseat. I called the phone numerous times about 3 minutes later, and the guy eventually turned it off after a few minutes. I work and live locally.. in the past week, I have had 2 cab drivers drive off in my face, one charge me a snow fee when there was no precipitation on the roads (however, there were some small melted snowmen in a yard in the neighborhood-clearly a driving hazard) A week later, this evening, my car never arrived in 45 minutes despite repeated phone calls.The manager hung the phone up on me as I was voicing concerns and STILL waiting for a car to go five miles (after over 90 minutes). Upon finally reaching my destination I called the taxi dispatch and asked for a manager. None was apparently working...none! The dispatch operator asked if she could help me and, upon relaying my issue, began yelling and screaming at me. When I told her to calm down and that I was the customer with a sentence I wanted to finish, she hung the phone up. I work for an agency in the community that utilizes their company for cab vouchers. Being that I am using their services as a pseudo gift/help to our agency, I was as polite as possible and after simply asking for a status update on the cab the dispatcher snapped and told me that he "just told me the cab was here" and when I apologized to him for not being more prepared but that I hadn't heard back he became extremely rude and said several times that he had "already told me" the cab was coming. I was extremely confused but he continued to treat me with significant condescension. I asked him not to be rude and he began to say he wasn't as he had already told me the information so I hung the phone up. The only thing I can think is that he had already spoken with someone else and thought I was that person. It is EXTREMELY poor customer service and frankly makes me want to see transportation options ANYWHERE else but with them. read more
