Had breakfast here one morning. Great atmosphere, and friendly and very attentive service. They do have a counter if you perfer, but I usally sit in the dining area. The half order of Hawaiian French toast I had was very good as well as my eggs and toast. The dine in area is nice and usually they very busy, but the food comes out fast and your coffee cup never runs dry. The restaurant part of the Silver Cliff Mountain Inn is known as Willie's! At first we were somewhat confused, however, I am really glad we sorted it out!!! Our breakfast was nothing short of fabulous!!! My wife ordered the Red Velvet waffles that had scrambled eggs and bacon on the side. I ordered the Eggs Benedict that was smothered in Hollandaise sauce and hash browns - not something that you will get at home on a regular basis. WOW!!! Both entrees were so good that it will have us coming back for more!! We had the privilege of meeting Willie as he was working the crowd. As we travel around the country, I find that if the manager/owner is working the crowd it's bound to be a great place - for sure in this case with Willie's. I told him that I call that "Leadership On Duty"!!! Three staff members also worked our table. Bow, Terri, and Summer, each had a division of duties and, as a result, we were really taken care of. The ambience was truly out of the western small town mode - clean, efficient service, and fabulous food. Four cups of the best coffee and a full stomach and was time to hit the road back home. Give Willie's a try as you will not be disappointed. Be sure to say "hi" to Willie, Bow, Terri, and Summer - they are the best. read more

We knew we were in the right place when we arrived a few minutes before they open at 7:30 and there was already a long line of people waiting to get in! I ordered the mini breakfast burrito and let me tell you - there is nothing mini about it! It's huge and filled with egg, potato, cheese and meat of your choice. It's then smothered in green chili that is delicious! I could only eat half of it so it's perfect for sharing. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect from a small, mountain town diner. It's very cozy! The service is great! The entire staff is very friendly and high-energy. You can tell everyone enjoys working here. We had the eggs, bacon, and has browns, the corned beef hash and eggs and the pancakes. The toast is fluffy and delicious. The corned beef hash is real corned beef. The bacon is crispy but delicious. The pancakes are "the best I have ever had" according to my son. We love visiting local spots and being welcomed in. This is one of those places! Such a great staff. We're vegan, and although they have foods that could be made into vegan dishes, they don't have a single option. We vegans are out there, we travel, and own land. Having one option that can be made from ingredients they already have on hand, would be a simple thing to do to accommodate travelers, and local residents. Just suggesting, and hoping for a tiny change. I'm not giving low stars to be mean. I just can't have a higher opinion since we can't even go here. If that changes, I'll change it. I stopped in yesterday with a group of 14. Although busy, they were able to get us all in pretty quickly. I had "yelped" the restaurant, in preparation for our lunch on our ride. It sure didn't disappoint! All in our group were more than happy with our lunches, and trust me, it can be hard to please everyone! Thank you to our waitress and waiter that got us all taken care of, and very well I might add. I know y'all were busy! My smiley burger was good, but I'm definitely gonna have to get the chicken fried chicken next time, that 3 at my table had. It looked delicious, all said it was great! Super nice folks churning out delicious food at fair prices. Our server could not have been nicer and she patiently waited while we made our choices. They have lots of lunch specials and the two we ordered were great. I had the fried chicken and it was delicious and served with lots of options for sides. I'm typically passing thru Westcliffe but I am very glad we made a short detour to Silvercliffe a few blocks away. Great job! We will be back!! read more

This was the nicest breakfast experience I've had in a long time. The restaurant is a block off the main road in tiny Silver Cliff. We were greeted by a handsome local cowboy who, seeing us hesitate to seat ourselves, let us know. The menu is straightforward - eggs, pancakes, French toast with a twist (Hawaiian bread), biscuits and gravy, breakfast burritos. I didn't even see the specials board ($11.95 for chicken fried steak and eggs, $7 corned beef hash and eggs, unusual hash browns with sausage and egg topped with country gravy, etc) - a good thing as I might have tried something other than the breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito: it may be the best I've ever had. Three sizes, regular, junior, and peewee. My Junior was extra large!! The potatoes inside were crisp, lots of perfectly cooked egg with minced onion, green pepper and sausage-- you know how sometimes egg gets watery in a burrito? Not here, it was fluffy and perfect. Topped with some of the most delicious green chili, the ideal mild-but-not-wimpy spice ratio for breakfast. Big chunks of pork. Lovely amount of melted cheese on top. I tried but couldn't finish it. You can sub country gravy for the pork green chili FYI. Husband had eggs, hash browns, sausage, and toast, with half order of biscuits and gravy. You can sub pancake or biscuit for toast, too. See photo of half order biscuits and gravy - gorgeous and flavorful! This local place must be staffed by the owners, because they obviously care and took great care of everyone. The coffee kept coming, nice and hot. People were mostly locals and really nice - one lady shared her newspaper with me. Decor is clean, open, and sweet without crossing into kitschy -- see photo of bear salt and pepper holder. Lace valance curtains. Bathrooms were spotless with a full length mirror inside. We have eaten here three times now. We live out of state so this is one of the spots we like to eat when in the area. Their fried chicken on Sunday is really good. Desserts are good too if you have room after the meal. This last visit we got there for a late breakfast. My only suggestion is this: when there is a shortage of help in the kitchen, do not serve lunch meals before the tables that have been sitting there for 30+ minutes waiting on their breakfast. Three tables had not been served breakfast when two tables received their lunch within 5 minutes of their order being placed. If I had been on my toes, I should have ordered our breakfasts to go and ate the chicken there. (Was seated at 10:20 and received breakfast at 11:20.) we had ordered our chicken plates to go so I did get what we really came for). We will be back on next trip but will know better if this should happen again. read more

Moved to town almost a year ago. Try to get to Willie's at least once a week. The food is fantastic but more importantly, Willie and all of his staff are incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. Coming from the South, their sweet tea is pretty good too! If you are in town, give it a try, but come early; though the wait is always worth it. Don't forget to check the specials board! read more

This is an every-visit-to-Westcliffe institution for us. We ate breakfast there yesterday and it was, as always, fantastic. Coffee is available as soon as you sit down and everyone makes sure your cup stays full. The staff is friendly and happy, and even in a heavy rush you feel taken care of. The food is just terrific - menu staples like enormous pancakes and gigantic breakfast burritos, different specials every day (yesterday it included a chorizo breakfast scramble with hash browns and toast), and unique items like terrific Mountain oatmeal (no, really!) and Willie's Green Chili, which is awesome. I've eaten most of it over the years, and the only major problem I've ever had is trying to move after breakfast - this is a place you can seriously blow your diet. (Yes, you can absolutely eat healthy here. But should you? Really?) You can't find a better or nicer place to start your day in Westcliffe/Silver Cliff. read more

It really is a pleasure to walk into an establishment and be greeted by friendly people who like what they do and are not just "making 8" to get by. This is my "go to" breakfast and lunch restaurant in the Valley. The food is always great and the service is outstanding! Nikki, Maria and Gus will make your dining a pleasure. I was on my way out of the Wet Mountains, having camped a WET night with lots of rain. I was dirty, having just packed up a wet, muddy tent, and needed a cup of coffee and some food. Passing through Silver Cliff, I stopped for gas and asked the woman at the cash register for a recommendation for a local diner. She recommended the Silver Cliff Inn without pause. I navigated back the couple of blocks and located it about a block off the main drag. Nothing fancy - just what you'd expect in a dusty, sleeping little town like Silver Cliff. In other words, it was everything I like in a diner. The eggs, sausage, and hash browns were perfect. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the locals, seeing me studying my road atlas, asked me where I was from, where I was going, and if I needed any directions. I had several conversations that helped me clarify my day's driving plans, headed to Great Sand Dunes National Park. My waitress, perhaps having never seen anybody looking at actual paper maps before, asked me if I wanted their wifi info. I didn't know they had wifi, but they did, and she supplied the password. Next time I'm passing through Silver Cliff, I know where I'm stopping to eat. read more

Stayed outside of Westcliffe for a week and had breakfast twice from this place. Fresh food, delicious home cooked taste.. the pancakes were amazing. They were out of biscuits the first time, and I was really wanting some so we got an order of biscuits and gravy the next time. Homemade gravy. Eggs cooked to perfection, the omelet was amazing! Almost had too much meat (not that it was a bad thing). Very friendly service and the lady singing in the kitchen made it a good experience. read more
