THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME MONTH TO MONTH WHEN I ALREADY ENDED MY LEASE AND GAVE THEM BACK MY KEYS. Once you sign a lease they do not care about you. Also - the pool is a ploy. It is never open. Closed more often than open in hot months. I know how long it takes to shock a pool with chemicals to get it right- it does not take a month and doesn't need to be closed weekly. They don't know what they are doing. No manager is here to take accountability for anything. Lidia - the front desk lady- is a nightmare to deal with and lies about communications I've had with her regarding 3rd party vendors entering my home with less than 24 hours notice. And then let's them enter and step on my things and leave splinters of wood in my carpet. This is just the tip of the iceberg. When I moved in last summer: AC was broken Window was broken letting all the air out Fan was broken Do you know how hot it is in Texas in June? They painted over HAIR everywhere. Apparently they did this in all the units. Thick layers of dust on everything upon move in The bathtub was sealed incorrectly and has been cracking since after a month of living here and the only way to fix it is if myself and my cat are not here for 2 days because of toxic fumes from sealing the tub. Nice people when you talk to them on the phone but once you get into the paperwork things go south fast. Due to representatives of the complex giving different information on the phone and weird demands in regards to signing the lease I decided to back out of the application. I was ok with them taking my application fee but then was told that I won't be getting my deposit back for the place I was thinking about renting. Citing that my application took too long and the information regarding that is on the lease that I agreed to. I was given a copy of the lease and there was nothing stating a time frame that I would have to comply by to get my deposit back if I decided to back out. Plus I didn't even sign the lease yet in the first place. So I didn't comply to an agreement that ceases to exists. They said there's 'nothing that we can do' so I sadly have to go through my credit card company to fight the charges and contact their larger company. Stay away. read more

I am an apartment locator, so I know all the complexes in Austin and I'd choose Silvercreek time and time again. This complex is in a walk-able location with the Delicious Toss Pizzeria and Torchy's Taco's right across the street, as well as a gas station with a HUGE selection of craft beer & wine. Silvercreek has a classic charm, great floorplans, Massive Balcony's, NATURAL LIGHTING, lots of parking, nice staff, and affordable housing. read more

Silvercreek was my first apartment after I moved out of my family's house. I was so lucky to have found such a great apartment. My unit didn't have anything that was not working and if something did stop working, maintenance came on the same day to fix it. Diana was very nice as well. She was helpful and listened every time I had a concern or needed any accommodations. Even after I left she was very fair to me. I talked to her about the fact that the carpet people had over charged me for the carpet even though I took very good care of it. She then agreed to have me pay half of the total since I was a good tenant and she knew that I was telling the truth. The only thing that I didn't like about my apartment was the bathtub, which seemed to always get clogged even though my hair is too short to be the reason. I think it's because the apartment is old, so the piping isn't great. However, maintenance always came and took care of it, so it wasn't too bad. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this apartment. read more

Great location. Apartments are old and not updated very well. LOUSY management - rude, hostile, and unfriendly. My first apartment in 20 years and I regret signing a one year lease with this apartment management! After living there one month I received a notice that all bikes parked on patios/balcony are to removed from patios/balcony in 48 hours are management will come and "confiscate" and "dispose" of all bikes! Really?! Unbelievable! Their sister apartment "Timber Creek Apts" which is just down the road is a bike friendly apartment complex - I called and checked today! Apartment renters beware! Absolute rudest, most hostile manager I have ever dealt with in my life. That bitter old woman needs to retire, because she seems to hate her job and the people she deals with. The apts are merely ok, and for replacing old appliances, they want you to pay a monthly "upgrade" fee of $30-40, so I stuck with the vomit-yellow fridge and oven. They apply a paint of some kind to the bathrm sinks and tub, so over time it begins to peel off to reveal the rust underneath. I'm sure this paint is not good for the water system, and when they are getting a vacancy ready for another tenant, the stink of the toxic chemicals seeps into the adjoining units. You also get charged $10 a month for trash valet service, and several times my trash didnt get picked up, or they would be lazy and toss recycling into the garbage. Not cool. The laundry room got upgraded, and while it was nice, half the machines would say they were in use when they were not, if not outright malfunction. I reported this to the mgmt, and they told me to call the company. I told them I had, several times, and it was their job, not mine, to deal with these issues. With only one laundry facility for an entire complex, a number of machines being out on a Sunday night was really inconvenient. Even though there was a keyed access gate to the mailbox, the mailboxes got broken into at least 3 times in the year I lived there, which meant we had to go to the post office to pick up our mail for unspecified amounts of time. There would be sketchy people occasionally doing laundry whom I knew didn't live there; once I walked in on a couple practically having sex on the table. The machines got broken into for the coins before they upgraded to cards. A homeless guy would occasionally sleep on the picnic table by the grill. I'm not sure why the complex was attracting transient people, but it seemed like they needed to put access gates on the property with all these problems. Maintenance requests would be completed within 1-3 days, but one of my neighbors told me it once took over a week to get a plumbing issue fixed, because they had a lot of move-ins to accommodate first (wtf?) When they upgraded the laundry facility, they waited until that Monday to send out letters announcing effective immediately, we'd not be able to do laundry until the following week! Which brings me to my initial experience with the staff here; when I put my app in, they cashed my deposit check the next day, but took almost a week to let me know I was approved! Everywhere else I applied gave me an approval in one day. Had I not been approved for any reason, I would have to wait for the mgmt company to cut a check to return my deposit to me. No one else has ever cashed my deposit check before giving me an answer first. I can also affirm as another reviewer said that there is no place to lock a bike, so if you live on the third floor as I did, you have to haul it up several flights of stairs. And if you keep it on your balcony, the hostile manager will send you nasty letters about inappropriate items (what??) being stored there. In the months before I left, a lot of really young people moved in who kept causing noise disturbances late at night, and the mgmt would not do anything about it. I know several of my neighbors complained about one apt in particular in our bldg, but I never saw so much as a warning notice issued to them. The location was ok, but S. 1st has so much traffic, and no median lane, so if a car in either direction needs to make a turn, it really jams up traffic. There were some mornings/evenings I simply could not exit/enter the complex because of traffic flow for at least 5 mins. As more apt complexes have sprung up along that area, I am sure traffic is even worse than when I lived there. When I moved out, I requested a walk-through with the manager so I would be sure to get my deposit back, and she refused, saying I didn't schedule it with enough advance notice (I asked a week ahead of time!). I cleaned the apt and took photos, and she ended up keeping $40 of my deposit because I left the shelf liner (which was padded, clean, and in good condition) in the old cabinets, which was nicer than the rough and stained particle board the liners covered. Had I stayed, my rent would have gone up the max 15% allowed by law. I saw no reason to pay almost $1000 to be treated like crap by the mgmt for a place I felt no attachment to. p.s. The place I moved to, Hillside Creek Apartments, has the SAME FLOORPLANS, but at a less expensive rent, and with a nicer mgmt team. I moved into a much larger and nicer 1 bd for less than I was initially paying when I moved into SCA. Good-bye, vomit-yellow janky appliances and rude manager! read more

To begin with, this complex is in an amazing location and I cannot complain about that. But with that being said, I like living here but there are so many things that could be done to make tenants lives easier! The biggest complain is the laundry facility, where the entry is impossible, especially when carrying a ton of laundry since most of the apartments don't come with W/D. A keypad or a way to get out without having to maneuver a key and door handle and a huge load of laundry at the same time would be so nice!! I also wish they would spruce up the place a bit! Rent is very expensive for how old the units are and it would be nice to have a better looking property, less rust on the stair wells ideally and lamps that aren't from the 1980's. I wish they would also turn a water reservoir into a mini dog park. I've heard so many residents with this idea and really all they need is a fence to make it work. Possibly making the property gated would be a good idea too since there is a bus stop right in front of the property. Otherwise, the management hasn't been too bad. The three stars just really comes from the apartments being nothing super special but nothing awful. They're just average older over priced apartments in a good location. Lived here for over a year. I came from out-of-state, so it was a bit nerve-wracking as I hadn't seen the apartments and knew nothing about Austin. But, Diana and Rylee were just great (they're no longer here). They took pictures of the specific apartment and sent it to me and sent me cable, electric, etc. information. The 1-bed apartment I am in (I will be moving out in a few weeks to be closer to work) was one of the updated apartments. Very nice, ground floor with faux hardwood, but wish my great porch/balcony was not facing the parking lot which doesn't afford any privacy. Here are the pros: -Maintenance response is great. -The complex is clean and well-maintained. -I was worried when I saw so many young people that it would be noisy, partying, etc. The other tenants here have been friendly, respectful and the place is absolutely quiet. You'd think you were in a retirement home! With a few exceptions - when the young lady upstairs would "ecstasize" during coupling.... Not annoying - all happy noises, unless you're jaded... -Location is fantastic. Torchy's, Toss Pizza and upscale gas station across the street; Walmart and Target less than 4 miles, downtown less than 15 minutes on the weekend; Town Lake, Zilker ,all close by. -Plenty of parking available. -Gym and pool areas are clean. Here are the cons: -Don't freak out! Noticed a couple of roaches twice. No big deal - this is Texas. I noticed that that they seem to come from the vents. If you tape a piece of gauze to the vent that should take care of it. -When it pours you are likely to get soaked trying to get into your apartment as the upstairs landing is not sealed. Your whole door will be wet. -Recently, the landscaper periodically comes on a Sundays and uses his gasblower before 9 in the morning! I think people complained and this has not happened as often lately. -Now this one is a real problem and I can't understand why the management does not take care of it as I see previous tenants from years ago on Yelp (or Google Review) have also complained about it. A number of the community laundry machines routinely are out of order. It is HIGHLY annoying to go pick up your clothes and they're soaking wet, or the dryer is not working. At least 25% of the machines do not work about 35% of the time (percentages based on my perception not Gallup). Some suggestions: If you can afford it get an aprt with a w/d and one that doesn't face the parking lot. Important: I've lost mail occasionally. I realized what it was. The mail person sometimes puts your mail in between the junk mail. So, go through your junk mail carefully. Don't just toss it w/o checking. Note: It will cost you about an $80-$100 more depending on your usage of water and electric (plus mandatory rental insurance). The only reason Spring Creek did not get 5 stars from me is because of the laundry situation. All in all, this is a lovely apartment complex with friendly management, and if you're a young woman this is a safe and respectful community with most places affordable by Uber. So happy to live here! The staff is wonderful, helpful, and friendly...and the manager is the best! If someone said something bad about Diana, they were probably just bitter because they tried to cheat the system and got caught! They worked with us intently to get us approved, and gave us everything we wanted. I seriously think we have one of the best apartments in the place! Our balcony backs up to the property fence and has a lush view of the wooded area behind. It is private and welcoming. Our front has the most amazing view of both St Edwards cathedral and the downtown skyline. The pool isn't perfect, but I do notice that they are working to upgrade and fix the issues. The decking is old, but the are replacing planks as needed. I have never waited more than 24 hours for maintenance to respond to a request. Our AC completely died one day. I literally woke up at 6am sweating profusely. It was only 79 degrees outside but it was 86 in our place. We called that morning. Not only did they respond to our call as a priority, they figured out what was wrong, and completely replaced our unit the same day! They didn't try to Mickey Mouse it to last a bit longer. They bit the bullet and fixed it right the first time! Such a breath of fresh air! It is an olde complex. Like I said, the stairs and de king could be replaced. The cabinets don't close perfectly, but there's a TONof closet space you would t get in a new build. I like that it's not cookie cutter. I like its character. My husband and I typically don't stay places long. Me find fault in most things and are always searching for the bigger better place. I haven't even mentioned how great the other occupants are. People are very friendly and easy to meet! Our downstairs neighbor helped us carry furniture up even though we'd never met him. Just simply said anytime you need a hand just knock. Within a month of moving in we had already decided we will stay here indefinitely until we but a house years from now. read more

I've never been so sad to move out of an apartment complex. Silvercreek is absolutely wonderful!! It's nothing fancy, I didn't even live in an updated unit and I still loved it. I was on the 3rd floor and had a beautiful view of downtown. Management is awesome! The sweetest ladies in the office that are always happy to help or answer questions. Maintenence is easy to submit online and they always come the next day. Units come with laundry hook ups or there is laundry on site that takes cards. Everyone I encountered here is very friendly! The location is perfect to be close to downtown but far enough to not be in complete madness. It's a very quiet complex and i never had any noise issues in my building (building 5). I was in a 2 bedroom 2 bath with a roommate, she decided to move out and I couldn't find a roommate on time to fill her room and unfortunately I couldn't afford the place on my own so I had to move on. I've lived in apartments for over a decade and this was the first time I actually cried on my move out day. I highly recommend this place!!! I'd give more than 5 stars if I can. My experience at this complex sadly turned out to be shocking and disappointing. I lived here from March 2010-November 2012. The complex itself was ok, decently thick walls, but with a cockroach problem, and to me minor defects (see water damage below), which unbeknownst to me would cost me... The management turned over 3 times while I was there and each new management crew had a different approach and a different feel about them. I suspect one manager of either being a meth head or non-functional Aspergers, for what it's worth. The real problem produced itself when we decided our time was up. We cleaned our apartment as usual, vacuumed floors, cleaned kitchen, cleaned non-painted walls etc. I've always gotten most of my apartment deposit back, which stands as a testament to leaving the apartment in as good a condition as I possibly could upon departure - it was the same in this situation. So when I got a bill in the mail for $100.00 on top of the $250.00 deposit that they kept, I was stunned. They ended up charging me for water damage in a bathroom (seen as darker patches on the linoleum) caused by water damage to a wall which we NOTED on the pre-inspection form for the apartment written as: " water damage on bathroom wall, eaten trellis." The bottom trellis of the wall was eaten away from water damage, which then lead to further damage. The management, as I said previously, was new and completely unconcerned with our side of the argument. We talked with the mgmt on multiple occasions to advocate our side, but they have since sent a collection agency after us and are, at this time seeking a $344.00 for a problem that was caused by their negligence to fix the problem in the first place (and apparently, to some extent, by my off handedness - the wall didn't bother me so I didn't feel compelled for them to fix it.) In the end I feel this complex, and the management there are criminal!! Word to the wise: fix EVERYTHING before you depart!!! read more

Management must have changed for the better since the older reviews. These apartments are priced fairly - they are not luxury models and they aren't falling apart- try to find a better value 2 miles from downtown. We live in a 2/2 with a "green room" - we love the extra space and treat it like a second living room so we have our TV in there. The bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms are roomy and its been a good layout for roommates. Our layout has a small kitchen but there are bigger kitchens if you don't have the extra living room. The laundry room is kept clean and maintained and it rarely gets too busy as many apartments here actually have washer/dryer hookups so not everyone needs the laundry room. The machines take credit cards (which can be glitchy) but the quarters are more reliable and a little cheaper (we go to the car wash down the road to get quarters). I haven't had seen any bums/loiterers on the property as others have mentioned. Maintenance is great - quick response times (1 day except limited to emergency repairs on weekends - which is understandable) and thorough repairs (we had a problem with our A/C and they fixed it right away and then came back and even gave us a better thermostat). Maintenance requests are easy to submit online - or you can call the office and they will put it online for you. Pet-friendly (although there is a dog size limit) management and community - no pet rent and the office has a candy bowl and dog treat bowl that we visit regularly. Most of the units are already upgraded with new black appliances and hard flooring (fake-wood linoleum) and nice carpets in the bedroom). Every week the pest control treats the outside and knocks on your door and asks if you have any pest problems inside. The trash valet is great - they pick up trash and recycling Sun-Thur and not on holidays so if your trash isn't getting picked up its probably the weekend. They have always come even in terrible rain and thunderstorms we've been having. $11/month is a good price - our last apartments charged $24 for the same service. We like the swimming pools here too - there is one with a volleyball net and a bigger one that is deep enough to stay cool in the summer. Nice pool deck and lounge chairs for sun bathing. Also there are a few grills and picnic tables here which is a nice touch. No rules about bicycles on balconies or decorating how you want (other places I lived at had rules about curtains or holiday decorations). The mail room has been secure in our time here, and most packages go to the office, you get an email that its there, and then you sign for them in the office. We just got our lease renewal - our rent is only going up 4.5%. If you renew they offer a free carpet cleaning. And, if you need to go month-to-month it would be a 15% change for us but that works well for us because we just need to add one more month before we move (moving to a different state - if we stayed in Austin we would stay here). read more
