Every time I come here whether it's dine-in or take-out there is always an issue with my order... On the bright-side they have a 110% guarantee where if you aren't satisfied you get a complimentary entree for your next visit. While this is a nice consolation I would much prefer having my meal done correctly especially when I take out, since I usually don't get it rectified immediately. With that said I'll review this take out visit. I will say their offerings are great and their healthy options (pretty much everything) are fresh and tasty. The girls were in the mood for some breakfast and since I had finally tasted their fish tacos earlier this week. I opted for that grilled (On an earlier takeout order a few months ago they forgot the entire fish taco entree). The fish tacos also come with a salad with strawberries and a great dressing. Anyway one of the girls ordered a kid's French toast the other Pancakes. Both came with one egg, a side of strawberries, and a drink. Both got their eggs sunny side up. But what's breakfast without a bacon... So I ordered two sides of bacon. So I go to pick up the food, previously they had curbside pick up, but apparently that's stopped so I went inside. They are always very polite and courteous, a plus in my book. Was told everything was in the bag, and proceeded home. Get home... No bacon! Am I driving back for bacon when the rest of the meals would get cold. Nope, but I call.. It was like pulling teeth to get an apology! (Which is not the norm) With that out of the way, we proceed to each, the girls didn't much enjoy the breakfast, obviously no bacon, but hot chocolate always makes them happy. I enjoyed my fish tacos, the flavors are good, I added hot sauce for some heat. Silver Diner has fresh food with great taste, they just really need to get the orders together, it's pretty frustrating, so much so that I can't say if I didn't keep getting the complimentary entrees that is continue to go back. read more

I normally hate when people write bad reviews of a place without having eaten there, usually because they're just whining about how the wait was too long or the hostess was a bitch or whatever. However, that's not going to stop me from doing it myself when I feel wronged by an establishment's utter bullshit. We tried to stop in after a movie, at exactly 10:20 pm. The hours on the door clearly state 7 am to midnight. There were people inside, both eating and cooking, but the doors were locked. We tried to get the attention of the people inside, but they blatantly ignored us. Mind you, this was an hour and forty minutes before their stated closing time. Another couple showed up and were angry as well, and tried even harder to get their attention. One waitress glanced over and just shook her head at us, then continued to ignore us. No explanation, no apology, nothing. That's completely unacceptable, and I refuse to ever even attempt to patronize this establishment again. I would advise you to do the same, because a place with such a severe integrity deficit does not deserve your business. read more

I visited with a co-worker since we were in the area. Although it was lunch hour, we both decided to have breakfast. I noticed there was a nice variety of healthy options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu didn't consist of your basic diner grub but much more creative dishes. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with scrambled eggs, a side of maple chicken sausage, and coffee. My flapjacks consisted of two very large pancakes ( almost the size of a large dish) filled with large blueberries. The maple chicken sausage was very disappointing. It consisted of two very small patties which resembled the size of a silver dollar. They had the consistency of a hockey puck because they must have been cooked hours ago and microwaved. They had absolutely no taste. As a coffee snob, I would say the coffee was very good. The service was very good and friendly. The prices were very reasonable considering the creativity and area. I really liked the nostalgic/retro look of the diner. This isn't your typical New Jersey diner and at least a couple steps above all the basic diners in New Jersey. read more

We love this place. I always thought it was a typical diner so we never tried it until a vegetarian friend said she had one of the best meals there and we have to try it! Being vegan makes it difficult to find anything but a salad and oatmeal at most diners but this place is soooo not typical. The food is flavorful and delicious. We've had the beyond burger, avocado toast, farro meal with brussel sprouts and they even have soy ice cream so my kids were able to have a milkshake! Yes it's a bit kitschy - but when we went (for a lovely lunch on a weekday at 2 PM) it was clean, nearly empty (great service) and the food was GREAT. My dining companion had a decadent platter of 4 Challah-French toast slices drizzled in (not too much - just right) caramel sauce. Served with 2 eggs and CRISPY long bacon strips. It was the picture of perfection and - according to my friend - tasted great as well. My unique dish was the crab-cakes benedict. (luckily I asked for the sauce on the side - as I did not need the extra glop/calories). The 2 crab cakes (one atop each english muffin half) were VERY good. Lots of crab and not too much filler. I was even able to get broccoli in lieu of home fries. We each ordered soft drinks which were served in large "vats" (free refills) and Fran got us to-go cups, which was a nice extra touch. Surprisingly impressive and inventive menu for a diner. I liked the emphasis on seasonal, healthy, and even local foods. I had the Mango Vegetarian Stir Fry which is made with quinoa pasta (now I kind of want to buy some quinoa pasta for home). It sounded strange for a diner meal, I was intrigued. It was very good, the mango paired well with the teriyaki, slaw, and sesame seeds. I would like to go back and try the Warm Roasted Local Veggie Salad. Edit: Have gone back and did try the salad. Very good. Better than I expected. Brussel sprouts, beets, pecans, sunflower seeds, squash, apricots and a bunch of other stuff. The champagne vinaigrette worked well, a lighter dressing that showed off the vegetables. I wish that this was the diner that was down the street from my house. I've been here a few times although not recently, and they have a nice selection of vegetarian options. I have gotten the veggie burger more often than not, n jj had a kids meal, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy n veggies. Not bad, but service could be better. I dont know if they still have the same satisfaction guarantee, but ive gotten a few free meals with it due to errors on my meals. For me, there is only one meal to be had-Lox and onion omelette, well done home fries and rye toast with a good cup of coffee. I've had this very same meal at dozens of diners throughout New Jersey. From the horrifically bad to mighty fine. Ok, true confession. I recently gave the Stirling Diner my made up five omelette award. Then, yesterday, I walked in the house and saw my wife drinking coffee from her favorite Silver Diner mug and I recalled that just last year I really enjoyed my breakfast of choice here. The omelette and home fries were beyond delicious as was the coffee. So five omelettes for the Silver Diner. I should mention that we enjoy stopping here on our way to the Aquarium in Camden. Pays to be well fortified. And my wife always stops here on her way back to North Jersey after visiting clients in Philadelphia. She's just in love with the place. Finally, a decent diner outside of Philly! My husband & I came for breakfast one Sunday & we were really surprised. The people who work here are so friendly & adorable! The fod was really good too. Their chocolate chip pancakes were really good, as was their coffee. My favorite part of the whole diner was their little table top juke boxes at each booth. Very cute! Our trip to the Silver Diner was disappointing; mostly because it's just such a cool old school diner and it just SEEMS like it'll be awesome. Maybe our expectations were too high, or maybe we were just that 'unlucky' seating that got the shaft, who knows. The service was spotty - our coffee was cold from the get go and it took a solid 10-15 minutes to get water. Then our food (which was standard quality, nothing to write home about) came and my girlfriend's eggs were cold. It wasn't the worst experience I've ever had, but I'll be in no rush to go back. Too bad, cause the atmosphere is soooo cool I really wanted to be impressed. We didn't try any of the milkshakes or malts, but they have an impressive menu in that regard. I'm a huge fan of silver diner and usually I am totally happy to eat here under any condition, but this following weekend we found out that there is certainly a circumstance that that renders them kind of awful. We stopped by en route to the mall on a Sunday morning, right in the peak of brunch o'clock and also right before the mall opened. The place was packed, there was a wait, tons of kids, and the staff was in a downright mean mood. I asked if we could sit out the counter, and there was space so we were sat immediately. Our waitress got us water relatively fast and coffee in a reasonable amount of time. We put our food order in and we read and searched about the internets while we waited. Now I understand the magnitude of food that they were churning out at this point, and I understand that when you've got three tables and you're the counter waitress your hands are a bit full. But 25 minutes is a bit long to wait for eggs and toast, especially when you're sitting at the counter, especially when the waitress doesn't notice your empty coffee and water cups. The food was mediocre, and I really find it difficult to believe that my friend's nearly orange colored scrambled eggs were made from organic eggs (or that they had real egg origins at all). But hey, your menu has lots of nice pictures of the owners and farmers together, so I believe you.... or do i? It's probable this lack luster encounter was a fluke, and that it was just a coincidence brought about by our timing, our choice to sit at the counter, etc etc etc. but whichever it was, we're going to take a break from there for awhile. on a positive note we did get 10% off the check for yelp check in, however the waitress then charged us for adding cheese to my friends eggs $.70 which he did not receive (so that basically made the 10% discount worthless) read more

Silver Diner is a hard place to review because, you really gotta be in the right audience to actually like it. If you're seeking for good Diner Food, but prepared with a healthy, organic, & all-natural mindset, I think you will love the Silver Diner. My favorite item is easily their Breakfast Burrito & I love the fact that you can build-a-burger. Their Sweet Potato Fries are also great. This is the 'audience' the Silver Diner markets too, and I give Silver Diner a 4 stars on this part. But if you're seeking for good Diner Food period, I don't know if the Silver Diner is for you. There is certainly better 'diners' out there, but than you're ignoring a huge part of the appeal behind the Silver Diner, which is the fact it's a (good) hybrid of healthy Food & Diner Food. Just know that place gets jampacked frequently -- The food isn't that slow (given the busyness of the diner), but do have some spare time just in case. read more

Yeah, I was pretty shocked the food came out looking just like the picture on the menu. lol It doesn't really happen too often at other places. The food was pretty good and the service was ok. The only thing that we disliked was how cold it was in there. They had the AC set to maximum warp drive. I felt like I was eating outside in Alaska. Not sure if they keep it that cold all the time but I think if I was the workers, I would freeze my butt off. I guess it gets customers in and out quick. I would definitely eat here again. The food was very good and the presentation was just like in the menu picture like I said earlier. The Silver Diner is a little different than most diners around the area. It's one of the few restaurants that really try to bring in farm fresh ingredients to their kitchen. It's always nice to see this in a restaurant, even more so in a diner. This sort of integrity does raise the overall menu price up a bit from a traditional diner, but the extra buck or two is well worth it. My only complaint on the ingredients is they seem 50/50 on the use of natural and commercial ingredients. If you'd like a visual of what I mean, half the tables have organic ketchup while the other half has Heinz (with HFCS). It's a literal example of my statement, but this example spills into the ingredients SD uses in their kitchen. Sit at the counter a while and you'll know what I mean. The menu at SD has a little bit of everything and almost anyone can find something they like. Vegans will find it the most difficult as their menu is lacking vegan options. I mention this because they have soy milk, raw sugar, and boast about their veganslaw; however, it's hard to find other vegan options without getting creative. For those watching their calories, the menu features a 600 calorie or less section which is appreciated. Their menu does change slightly throughout the seasons so be sure to check back often for the latest goodies. The service here is mostly good. As a frequent customer, I have noticed that 1 out of every 10 employees seem to not really care about the customer. I've learned to ask for certain servers, but someone new could have a bad experience just solely on getting that 1 out of 10 - which would truly be a shame. An additional annoyance is that sometimes a rather large crowd of servers collect at one of the counters. This typically wouldn't be a problem unless you are awaiting service and see almost every server standing in one spot chatting amongst themselves. I've only experienced this once or twice, but it's enough to make mention of it in an unbiased review. Overall SD is a great little diner. I really like that they have recently brought in the soy milk, raw sugar, and all natural jellies. I just hope that they continue to bring in all natural and organic products and phase out the fake stuff. If you have a problem with the diner speak to a manager or fill out a comment card. The managers do respond to either method and will gladly try to rectify any problems that are under their control. Lastly, be sure to leave a good comment card too if your experience was good - they like good news as well. =0) read more

I've been here a number of times/ordered food for delivery through Express Grub and every time has been AMAZING!!! Despite the name, I wouldn't consider the food selection to be very "diner" like... And that's because the quality of the food is just TOO good. Everything is super fresh, organic, yadda yadda. The interior is super cute, retro diner themed with juke boxes at the tables. When I lived in Jersey I would come here all the time but boy has this place changed. I was a little nervous about what I would eat because I no longer eat meat but the menu had so many vegan options that I didn't know what to pick. Not only do they now have vegan options but they also have gluten free and vegetarian options now. My favorite thing is that they have everything labeled on the menu so you know which is vegan/vegetarian and or gluten free. It's nice to see restaurants that cater to all lifestyles now. The quinoa coconut pancakes were amazing and the fact that you get agave instead of syrup was music to my hears. Went last Friday at lunch time. Was seated immediately. Server came over and took our drink orders- came back with the waters and the milkshake came from someone else. We waited over 15 minutes for her to come back and take our order and the only reason it didn't take longer was because the server who had the table next to us actually grabbed her and brought her to our table and said "here, this one" We order a kids meal, appetizer, breakfast and a veggie sandwich. The appetizer and kids meal came out at a good pace. My son finished his meal completely and we had to slow down on the appetizer so not to spoil our appetites. We waited almost 40 minutes until I eventually grabbed the other server to ask for a manager. About 3 minutes afterward our food comes out but we were ready to go. My friend asked for her breakfast to go and I asked for my sandwich to be removed from the bill (no one wants a soggy sandwich). She comes back with my friends food boxed up and my sandwich because it would have otherwise gotten thrown out. They also took an additional 10% off the bill. I feel like they really went that extra step to make sure we tried again. While I will return, my friend said she will not. read more

The old school diner feel was adorable, the place was immaculately clean, including the bathrooms! The food was farm-to table, organic, home made and delicious! We had the avocado - toast and eggs, one person had theirs with fresh lox on top. The avocado was no doubt made to order with bean sprouts on top of crispy toast. It was lemony and yummy! I didn't love my meal (I didn't like the seasoning of the tofu) but I chalk it up to risky ordering and not the quality of the food. Sitting at the top of the hill, overlooking the mall, I never gave much thought to Silver Diner. Late one Sunday evening, the roomie and I were deciding where to get a quick bite that would fulfill what we both wanted. Luckily, Silver Diner was open and came to the recuse. Once you take a seat and let the kitschy retro vibe sink in, this place is pretty fabulous. The service from the young waiter was great, even though it was almost closing time and the kitchen staff was cleaning up. I knew right away that I wanted the American sliders, and my roomie decided on the turkey chili. The sliders were pretty flavorful with just the right amount of thousand island dressing and the amazing cholula caramelized onions on the side. My roommate said her turkey chili was good too, and it was a decent portion size. The menu attempts to be seasonal, which I can appreciate from a diner. There are multiple locations in the region, from here to Maryland. This could potentially be my new diner spot! read more

Out of the diners i go in south jersey, its usually the cleanest and most organized. We usually always know what we like to order and stick to that. They are very good for families with children. The boneless pork chops are very good. My wife likes the scramblers. My children like the chocolate chip pancakes. The menu was what I call "New American" with focus on farm to table and non gmo offerings as well as gluten free and vegan options; things you pay a premium for. Yes, there were some classics, too. We stuck with basic bacon and eggs (they don't butter the toast, they bring butter on the side, which didn't melt). The food was okay, not great, not terrible. The prices were above average ($6.50 for a bowl of chicken noodle soup). Silver Diner is just not what I expect or want when I go to a Jersey Diner. read more
