I love hot chocolate as I am not a coffee drinker and to me on a cold morning there is nothing like a good mug of sweet chocolate delight. However there is surprisingly too much chocolate - there is no need for the chocolate syrup on top of the whip cream and it should be offered as an option not a given. I had to ask for extra hot water and ended up having almost a double size hot chocolate because it was too rich. The avocado toast was bland almost no seasoning at all. The egg however was cooked nicely. I didn't try the pancakes but my breakfast partner tells me they are the best. The eggs were cooked properly and the home fries were fine. The home fries were actually on par with typical diner home fries. The rye toast wasn't warm and had a slightly chewy texture, but it was still okay We also ordered a rigatoni appetizer. It had potential, but the sauce was very tangy (a blush-style sauce), which I didn't mind, but the pasta itself was extremely chewy. I would rate it about a 3/10. One friend ordered pancakes with bacon (4$) and added strawberries ($4) and bananas ($4). The strawberries and bananas were the highlight. The pancakes tasted like they were not freshly made, with a rubbery/floppy texture. They were sweet, but had more of a premade/frozen pancake taste. The bacon also didn't come out with the pancakes. Another friend ordered chicken and waffles. I tried the waffle and it was also very chewy, and the chicken tenders were disappointing. The chicken tenders were very small, only two small pieces were served. I've had gas station chicken tenders that were better. Our waitress did ask how everything was when she delivered the food, but since we hadn't really tasted much yet, we said everything was fine. Later on, most of the food at the table was barely touched (pancakes, chicken tenders, rigatoni). When she cleared the plates, she asked if we wanted a box and we said no, but there wasn't much follow-up despite how untouched the food was. I did ask for the rigatoni and bacon to be taken off the bill since we didn't eat them, and they did remove them. The total bill was still around $84. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. My wallet must have fallen out in the booth we were in. From the time I walked out the door and to the car (less then 3 minutes) and back to the table it had vanished. The plates had been cleared from my side of the table only....other side still was still littered with my companions leftovers. Thanks to the workplace thieves that scooped it up while clearing the table. I won't be back. Not only because of the theft but the food was mediocre and unappealing and there was a pervasive stench of mildew/dirty dishrag throughout the diner. Really cute diner with tons of seating that can definitely accommodate large parties if needed. They've got the staples on the menu: omelettes, burgers, wraps, salads, etc. Plenty of selections to please even the pickiest eaters. Bonus, they serve alcohol! I enjoyed a Greek omelette with their home fries which was pretty tasty. I also indulged in an espresso martini which was a nice treat in a diner setting. There's plenty of Italian baked goods up front like cookies, cakes and cannolis to purchase on the way out. Came in on a Saturday afternoon. We called ahead so we didn't wait long to be seated and there was plenty of parking when we arrived. Daniel was our server and he was great - he was so fast and made sure we had everything we needed. We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp and Fried Pickles as appetizers. I didn't get a picture of our main courses, but we ordered the Linzio Wrap and the Cubano. We enjoyed everything we ordered and still had extra food to take home. I have not visited Ponzio's in YEARS! Stopped by late morning for breakfast. I ordered creamed chipped beef with potato pancakes and Avocado toast. When the creamed chipped beef arrived, it was obvious that it was sitting out waiting to be served to me by the look of the bechamel sauce. I was absolutely correct! Put the knife to it and knew immediately it was not hot. The flavor profile was there but it was disappointing. The avocado Toast was good. A family outing led us to Ponzio's in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. This family-friendly diner has been around since 1964 and sells classic American cuisine. It was hustling and bustling on a Saturday afternoon, which was to be expected. We had a party of 10 and were accommodated fairly quickly, given the circumstances. The restaurant is fairly large and feels exactly like what one would expect from a diner. The service was also surprisingly good given how busy it was. As appetizers, we ordered the fried green beans (~$10-13), potstickers ($11), and cheesesteak eggrolls ($13). All three were good, but the cheesesteak eggrolls were the standout. They were cheesy and crispy to perfection! As an entree, I ordered the penne vodka (~$25) which came with a salad and bread, which I feel like is a great deal! The salad and bread were good, but nothing too special. I really enjoyed the penne vodka. The sauce was flavorful and it's a huge portion, good for leftovers/2 meals. Additionally, Ponzio's has some amazing desserts. The dessert cabinet is immediately enticing when you walk in. The final boss fight of all NJ diners. Dating back to 1964 and one of the biggest diners you'll find in the Garden State. I've lived in South Jersey almost all my life, but can't remember the last time I came here. Finally visited again on a recent Saturday night in March with my ten-year-old son. We arrived at 6:00 and the place was pretty packed, and we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. Felt a little bit like an airport terminal as they used the intercom to call out names every few minutes, telling them to report to one of four or five different dining areas to be seated. Our server was Melissa who was super friendly. Our food came out quickly despite the crowds. I had the Bundy Burger (cheese, onion rings, bacon and bbq sauce) which was good. I will say though, that I was asked how I wanted it, and I said medium, but there wasn't a trace of pink inside the burger at all. My son got the grilled cheese with bacon and said he enjoyed it. Ponzio's is an easy five stars for me. I drove past Ponzio's a million-trillion times in my life prior to stopping in for dinner earlier in the month. I'm annoyed at myself for skipping it all those years. I ordered the flounder francaise for my meal, which came with two sides and a house salad. I ordered the french fries and cole slaw as my sides, and both were delightful. I loved their cole slaw especially. The salad was fresh too and I love when places have thousand island dressing as an option. They don't skimp on portions, and I needed multiple takeout boxes. Can't review this without mentioning their bread basket. Theirs was STELLAR. Oh my gosh, that cinnamon bread - yum. Oh and their dessert counter is dangerous. Soooo many options! I selected a few cookies, and they were all tasty too. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly, the food came out in a normal timeframe, and I left full and happy. Okay to another update! I just had to log in and share my experience from our family's Easter dinner at Ponzio's! I was all set to order the salmon cakes, that I LOVE, but then saw on the Easter menu - lobster ravioli! Yes please! It had been a while since I had this dish. Their version was SO darn good AND several shrimp were atop - bonus! My super picky niece LOVED her stuffed rigatoni and raved about the sauce it came in. My dad flipped for his broiled seafood platter, and everyone else was very happy with their selections as well. My son cracked me up - "mom, it had too much chicken!" (he had the "heart attack on a plate" - fettuccini Alfredo (but w/ angel hair pasta). How could we NOT purchase some baked goods!? I got a dozen assorted sugar cookies and an adorable bunny (vanilla-vanilla) cupcake. We devoured them at home! Even though I live in Somerdale, the trip to Ponzio's is only 20 minutes flat. wow these portions are BIG and the food is GOOD. We got the chicken pot pie dinner and it came with a salad and sweet bread for the table. That bread was delicious I almost would go back just for that! We had a suspicion that the pot pie would be enough for us so we got two appetizers- bang bang shrimp and fried mac and cheese. we went to ponzio's on a Sunday morning, on the way to an estate sale. the parking lot was full but we found a spot, went in and were seated promptly. walking past the counter of in house pastry was tempting! cookies and cakes galore. the seating seems newly upgraded. our server was very nice, let us know she warmed our coffee mugs, a nice touch. we ordered and didn't wait long for the food to arrive. my omelette was very good, mushrooms and swiss with multigrain bread that they claim to make in house. delish! the homefries were a bit lackluster but did I leave them on the plate? Horrible! Do not go here for food. I ordered a plain tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. Simple and easy right? What could go wrong. What was served was a like warm cup of soup and two thick pieces of grilled bread with mozzarella between them and the cheese was not melted. Who makes grilled cheese with mozzarella cheese? Who serves a grilled cheese with cold / unmelted cheese? I sent it back of course and it was returned to me and the waitress tells me still unmelted and that the mozzarella doesn't melt too good. I told her I didn't want it so she took it back and then told me that they would just charge me $9 for a cup of soup. We will not be visiting Ponzio's again. At one time (many years ago when Mr. Ponzio was still alive), this was a restaurant that had consistently good food and a family favorite. No doubt the ownership has changed, the food quality has significantly declined, and they've hired cooks that don't know how to make a grilled cheese sandwich. Be forewarned. You can find your favorite Jewish pastries like Bubbe used to make, French- and Italian-style confections, lots of cookies, specialty and birthday cakes, cheesecakes, chocolate horns, Napoleons, and first-class cheese rolls. We got the Loaded Potato Omelette and the Traditional Belgian Waffle with Breakfast Meat. While the menu says all omelettes come with either home fries or potato pancakes, I was told that because the Loaded Potato Omelette contained home fries inside the omelette, it would not come with the side. I asked for a side of potato pancakes (4 pieces), which ended up costing $4 extra (not worth it). The omelette was good, but overall everything was overpriced, especially for that waffle. I was hoping based on the number of positive reviews here that this would be our local diner spot. Sadly that's not the case. The food was ok - not well seasoned but it wasn't too greasy. The only perk was that it was quickly cooked and served. The diner itself is clean and have a lot of windows. The service was the most disappointing. When we entered, we waited for awhile before anyone even noticed we weren't attended to. There were a lot of people standing around and ignoring us. We were finally seated and our server wasn't very welcoming or friendly. Checking out wasn't much better. The lady at the register was rude when we were paying our bill. I ate dinner at Ponzio's about three weeks ago. I had not been in Ponzio's in maybe three years as I don't get by there very often. I was alone and sat at the counter. I had a very nice waitress who was clearly working hard and had many customers both at the counter and elsewhere. The diner was busy, as it often is, overall. My dinner was simple: chopped steak, with two sides. The sides were green beans marinara, and then their potatoes and peas. The sides were both outstanding; it seemed to me they were made in-house. Both sides came on their own plates and could have been an entree on their own. The chopped steak was cooked medium as ordered and the gravy on it was very good. My meal was nothing fancy but was excellent and I was very happy with it. The side dishes were particular noteworthy for how good they were and I highly recommend both. The meal came with a basket of rolls; one of them was like a danish - very good. And I also got a cup of soup with the meal. I think all-in the $21.00 I paid was worth it. read more

As a long time resident in South Jersey, Ponzio's Diner had always been the staple diner, which is saying a lot with so many in the area. SJ Diners are the best place to go for breakfast Except this last time that I went for breakfast at Ponzio's. The coffee was luke warm and not great. I ordered French Toast with a side of Italian sausage. The French Toast was deep fried, which sounded good. Wasn't. No presentation. Just 4 pieces of bread on a plate. Very hard, not that tasty. Still it was eatable. I have never in my life not enjoyed Italian sausage. I took one bite and had to discard it in a napkin. It just had a fowl taste, like it may have been expired. I learned a long time ago not to complain in a restaurant and send it back. So, as I proceeded to cash out at the register, I was waiting to get the customary "Was everything all right" as I've gotten thousands of times at diners. This time she took my money without saying a word and gave me my change. I told her about my bad experience with the sausage, and she said. "Ok, fine, thank you." I said that I wanted to talk to the manager and she pointed him out. I told him that the sausage didn't taste right and that he should investigated. He didn't apologize or attempt to compensate me and said, everyone eats the sausage here and they like it." I said that they won't like it long if they get food poising.
