We have visited the silver dolphin several times and with friends. Mostly for brunch (added a few photos here). Also visited the Silver dolphin with my children, for Mother's Day and on St. Patrick's Day. The silver dolphin never disappoints. Hernando Beach restaurant that frequently has a short wait for seating... but is 100% worth the wait! Staff are small-town friendly and feels like home. While you wait, there is a large gift shop to peruse with decent pricing from local artists. Weather permitting, ask for seating outside. But if they are really full, the indoor seating is almost as nice (plus it has air-conditioning). Weekend specials on certain beverages, so early birds always save more money. We had the fish tacos, shrimp, tacos, watermelon Mojito, and steak sub. The fish tacos were divine and my daughter loved the shrimp tacos as well. Breakfast platters are healthy portions and also didn't disappoint. If you get there early, they have weekend mimosa and Bloody Mary specials (BOGO). Our favorite person was an elderly woman that cleans up the dishes. So incredibly sweet, kind and personable. Staff is very efficient, friendly, and food arrives rather quickly... along with beverages. Great view overlooking a canal, small deck on canal, complete with view of snapping turtles, cool breeze, shade, and areas to take pictures (dock, mermaid statues, dolphin statue, florida signage, etc.) We will definitely be back (again)! read more

Adorable restaurant on the water. Has a cute little gift shop when you walk in/out. The restaurant itself is sort of a typical low-key seafood place on the water. Super casual. Can eat indoors or outside overlooking the canal. Nice selection of fruity, summery alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, wine and beer. We started with a cup of New England clam chowder. It was nice and thick but not too much so, nice amount of clams, very tasty. Then we had the lobster combo. It was a lobster roll (which was pretty substantial by itself) with lots of very big chunks) 5 fried shrimp, and a huge pile of fried clam strips. Trying out a new place on our way from a weekend of kayaking on the homossasa river. This is a little off the beaten path but worth the detour. Sat outside by the water. Really nice and chill. Lots of menu choices. We decided on lunch. Started with some fried pickles. Very large portion. Lots of pickles!! I had to have the famous haddock sandwich. Blacked and cooked really good. My friend selected the Silver Dolphin for our monthly luncheon. When you arrive, the greeted with a very colorful building with different mermaids and their signature silver dolphins at the front of their store. They also have on one side, a boutique and on the other side is the restaurant. When we entered, we were seated right away. Our drinks taken by a very nice lady. Great personality and made us feel right at home. The menu has a lot to select from so it took some time to choose. I have to be honest, their raspberry ice tea is nasty. I switched to sweet tea, unfortunately it was nasty as well. But, I drank it. We placed our order, I had the clam strip basket with french fries and coleslaw. My friend had the lobster salad. The clam strips were very tasty, but they were all more on the small side and there was more french fries than clan strips. My friend had the salad which contained more salad than lobster pieces, but it had fresh tomato cucumber, and they use a type of mayonnaise for the dressing which I didn't care for. The prices for the amount of food was very expensive, but you were on the water and you had the opportunity to sit outside under shaded canopies, and lots of trees and flowers and view the canal which had lots of fish and hungry turtles. As I walked down the pathway, everything was decorated in plants and different nautical items, and it led to an outside bar. Also, in the front of the store is there dessert bar with cheesecake several kind, pumpkin pie, brownies, etc. They all look very delicious but I didn't indulge this time. Our waitress was very friendly. She checked on us often refilled our drinks and smiled through everything. Looks like she was very happy to be working and happy to take care of us. There are plenty of handicap spots for parking handicap spots for dining and the bathroom will accommodate a wheelchair or a motorized cart. I found everything to be clean, the food tasted good and it also tasted fresh. It was a nice place to go, but I believe because if it's location, it's more of a tourist trap and the prices are a little bit high for the amount of food that you get. Will I go back? Maybe. But there's other places on Shoreline Boulevard to try. I will admit that it is a very exciting place to go because of all the colorful decorations, the beautiful flowers the canal the turtles the fish they have a small boutique with beautiful jewelry and little knickknacks. The place was full. I have been in the hospitality industry for over 60 years. I couldn't help but notice how the older lady took care of the younger lady's guests as they were her own. This place is absolutely adorable! We didn't sit outside because of the weather, but the seating area is adorable. We ordered a BLT with an E on an everything bagel fully loaded, with a side of home fries with onions and peppers, and a three egg omelette with spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomato, with a side of home fries with onions and peppers, and white toast. This is an eclectic little restaurant has outdoor seating with beautiful views of a small canal draped with native Florida foliage & wildlife. It almost has a "land before time" type of feel to it. We stopped for breakfast and we were pleased with the food, though the service was very slow. I can't blame our server, who was friendly and lively. They were just ridiculously short on staff. Also made note of the fact that at the checkout counter, there were at least a dozen camera screen throughout what wasn't that large of a restaurant. Not sure what the deal was with that but it's hardly a place you'd think would suffer a lot of theft or crime. We just had dinner here as a group of 10 people. Our server did the best job she could. I and the blackened chicken Greek salad and the boss had blackened haddock tacos. My chicken was grilled and not blackened. The tomatoes were really mushy. My wife said here tacos were good with the exception of having too much sauce. The biggest problem was we got our food in four waves. 2 in the first wave, 6 in the second wave, 2 in the third wave and the salad for the last order after everyone ate in the fourth wave. After about a a guy by the name of Alex came the kitchen and he said he had found it in the trashcan. We had asked the server several times if she had maybe put it in the trash and she said no, she had only been between us and the cash register. We were seated then, drinks orders taken and delivered, requesting a few minutes to peruse the menu, then finally needed to get up 20 minutes later to find a server so we could order food. Our server, who never introduced herself, did apologize, but as the only diners inside at the time, we felt the delay was unacceptable. We shared a fried platter which did arrive hot with average quality fish, clam strips and shrimp. I doubt we will return, unless we decide to try again for breakfast or lunch. read more
