My friend decided it was her turn to select a place and she did a search for some of the top cafés located in Brooksville and Mallie's came up. When we entered, we were greeted by beautiful clothing, jewelry, knickknacks, and very friendly people. The gift shop was to our left, and where we were seated was to the right, they had beautiful China decorations. They had a wide variety of things to select from and daily specials, along with a kids menu. I was very pleased with my meal and the Swiss and potato soup was out of this world. A couple of ladies coming out recommended it they said they had it and it was excellent and we wouldn't be sorry if we ordered it. And we both ordered it and we were definitely extremely happy with it. Everything is homemade, made from scratch. Whoever the cook is crafted beautiful food presentation. The café is spotless even all the China and beautiful glassware didn't have an ounce of dust anywhere so they take very good care of their product and their restaurant. After lunch, we had dessert and then we went into the gift shop area. The gift shop seemed to go on forever! They had children's clothes, children's books, stuffed animals, gorgeous shoes for adults, dresses, shirts, outfits, jewelry, flowers, fresh cut flowers, cakes and so much more! Plenty of free parking for cafe patrons. Handicap parking, easy access and the bathroom was clean. Our lunch was very reasonable. But the gift shop items were very expensive. $31.00 for a coffee mug?! Baby outfits for $40.00? I admit, the clothes were very beautiful, made from better quality materials. Maybe that's why they were expensive. The gorgeous shoes were very reasonable. The cashier suggested we come back around Christmas time because it's always phenomenal. Will we go back? YES! Mallies is definitely a hip place women enjoy going to. If you'd haven't been to Mallies yet, I would definitely put it on your, "must try" list. read more

I had the meatloaf special with scalloped potatoes topped with melted cheddar cheese. Since I didn't want the salad they graciously substituted a fruit bowl. It was my 80th birthday and as it turned out two others in the room celebrated their birthdays too. For dessert the staff brought my dessert choice lemon cake with blueberries and whipped cream and a little candle. Everyone sang happy birthday too. It was quite the surprise! Cute restaurant with beautiful antique dishes all atound. I had the spinach quiche special which was awesome! It had a while slice of cheese on top which was so good! Our server was Dale. She was attentive without being intrusive. Ordered the Southern Cobb salad but with the citrus dressing. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, the egg perfectly hardboiled, the tomatoes and cucumbers well diced, the bacon crumbled and crisp. The dressing had a hint of mustard and the entire salad was delicious. If I had one slight negative comment, it would be the salad was big and hard to mix on the plate. While visiting friends in Brooksville, they took us to the cutest little country eatery! It was super quaint with quilts on the walls, tea pots and teacups lining the shelves near the ceiling along with blue willow platters and vintage china. Just my cup of tea... Speaking of tea, with all the pretty dishware they have around this restaurant, they could use some new cups for serving as a couple of ours were chipped and cracked. Poor cups need to be retired, and I was then, once I mentioned it, brought a new cup! Huzzah! The tea inside was delish as was all of our lunches! We all chose The Best of Both Worlds: 1/2 sandwich & a cup of soup! I had the chicken salad on rye with a cup of homemade potato soup! It was literally all that and a bag of chips! ($7.95) My hubby had the "Gobbler" turkey & cranberry croissant with broccoli soup!! For dessert we shared the coconut silk pie, made from scratch and yummy! I was hankering for more! The service was excellent. We were seated right away. It surprised me as they are quite busy usually. We must have come at the right time. I had the tomato spinach quice and fresh fruit. This is my favorite place when I visit Florida. I took my daughter and we both had the chicken salad with crab bisque soup We ate on the porch with temperatures in the high 80s and it was cool with a nice breeze. It is an old place with neat old time theme of decoration. The food is excellent but try to avoid the lunch rush if you can. A bit noisy if you are in a large group. I had one of the specials of the day, a seafood casserole. It also was delicious. Then came Dessert! The sizes were definitely shareable. Thank you Yelp for this find!! I was in Brooksville for business and needed a quick lunch. My GPS first took me to the wrong place and I'm so glad that I insisted on finding it. I had the swiss potato soap and Meridian Club (add tomatoes) with pasta salad. The soup was perfectly seasoned and deliciously creamy. I absolutely loved it! The sandwich was amazing with a fluffy croissant and I loved their dressing. I took some cream cheese brownies home and cannot wait to try them. The servers were friendly and service was fast. The dining room is small and you can get your neighbors, but it's cozy. I would definitely recommend this place and will return if I'm in Brooksville again. read more

Well, Mallie Kylas is this great little place in Brooksville, They also have a location in Dade City but I've never been to that location. Been going here for 5 or so years. Frankly it's a great place to have lunch. Very Southern feel, with a great Flower and gift shop for the girls. (Guys bring your plastic, cause your honey is gonna buy something on the way in or out) As other Yelper have noted, Get there around 11:30 if you don't want a wait. However wait at peak has never exceeded 15 minutes for me. I've had the salads, soups, and sandwiches over the years and found them all to be excellent, Roast beef Crunch is my favorite, with the Turkey being a close second. Everything is homemade, Potato salad is great, the bread appears to be baked on site. I hear that the Shrimp and Grits is the best anywhere around, I gotta get over there and try it. Fish bake on Fridays I've also heard is awesome. Now to the good stuff, Desert!! Damn good stuff they bake at this place. The Oatmeal cake is the bomb! Don't sound like much right? Try it.
