How can I be the ambassador for Yelp in Asheville when I'm not thinking outside of the box of things to review! Cordial and Craft is seriously righteous. Being that I live in Asheville, I attend a lot of weddings. I don't know if that's because something in the air here makes people want to get married, or perhaps it's just this sort of band wagon thing... like, HEY! Our friends are getting married, we should get married! I mean look, I got married! What's even crazier is that people come to Asheville to get married and throw awesome weddings that they can post all over instagram because they look so damn cool and everything is perfect and it's got that wonderful and charming handmade rustic class. So yeah, I think I'm up at about 5 to 6 weddings a year, which is great. But when I spot the bartenders of Cordial and Craft as I approach a wedding reception I'm ready to high five everyone within a 30 foot radius. When it comes to charm, class, and presentation nothing beats the bartenders from Cordial and Craft. I'm having a tough time even figuring out how to communicate just how great they are. You know those pictures you see on pinterest of drinks that make your mouth water, that have been custom designed for the event, with cute straws and beautiful colors? That's what we're talking about here. When you go to a wedding that has chosen Cordial and Craft to provide their bar program for the evening it's basically a sure fire sign that the event planner/bride and groom/venue has put great thought and care into each element of the event. Call them mixologists, call them craft cocktail masters, call them friends, just make sure to call me a cab because after a wedding reception with this wonderful company I'm not driving home.

These ladies were so pleasant to work with - everyone commented on what great service. They refused to refund our wedding after Hurricane Helene forced them to cancel the date we had…read morealready paid in full for, citing a clause in the contract which allows them to wriggle out of giving you back any money you give to them. They would only offer to reschedule. We were obviously disappointed but managed to whip up a truly incredible wedding locally in Raleigh instead. We decided we wanted to have a small vow renewal next year at Homewood so we could have the ceremony we imagined while also keeping our money in the Asheville community with our vendors. We asked if they would reschedule our date and give us a partial refund as the scope of the event would be significantly reduced. They again refused, again, citing the clause in the contract. We made a completely reasonable request - requesting that we be refunded the difference between what we booked initially and what the new event would have cost and they refused it. The entire situation left a really bad taste in our mouths and now we want nothing to do with these people. They showed themselves to be cold, cynical business people. They can throw a wedding in an empty room next year for all we care.

I'll start with the cons: Cons: -Julie showed us around the property today. She knew our wedding date (1/16/21) and that we wanted an outside ceremony because I am hoping for snow. There were multiple times that she said "oh, I won't show you that because you're having a winter wedding and you won't be outside" -WOAH! Please PLEASE show us outside because we expressed our specific desire to have it OUTSIDE!! -The bridal "suite" was a complete joke. First off, you are overwhelmed by the smell of mold when entering. It is not actually a "suite" at all, but rather a dark room with a separate cramped bathroom to get ready in. No bridal dress would even fit in that teeny tiny room. -During our tour of the property, Julie interrupted a bridal party who was actively engaged in their rehearsal. She made two elderly women get up from their chairs so that we could sit down at a table in the ballroom and look at some photos of the property while Julie disappeared into an office for twenty minutes while she "ran numbers" for us. We found this to be extremely unprofessional. We should not have been interrupting another family's special moment and she should have taken us back into a private office to speak. While she left us alone for what felt like a century, we kept asking eachother if we thought we should just escape while we could. Yikes. -The ballroom is beautiful but the venue is TINY! If it were up to Julie (who, remember, doesn't think you should have a ceremony outside in the winter!) both the ceremony and the reception would take place in the same small room. Nooooo thanks. -The linens are not included. (....what??) -The "decor" and plates that are included are super bland and almost purposely boring. There is only one set of dishes to choose from m. PROs: -During Julie's 20 minute absence, she created and printed out an estimate of cost that broke down all our expected costs. She didn't want to go over it with us, she just handed it over and said "it was nice meeting you both!" Soooo yeah. We will be getting married at The Farm in Candler. They've got it so much more together there and everything is included. Update: We have received several badgering emails from Homewood basically asking "have you picked us yet? Do you have any more questions? Hellooo??" When none of the either venues we toured behaved this way. Just leave us be!

Apparently there are different DJ's, the person you speak to and give the song list to is not the same person that shows up to do the wedding, so this led to what I expected happening. Songs requested were not played. The song for the Mother-Son dance was not the correct song (they played a bride-father version) so that was embarrassing and I was really annoyed at the time. Just make sure you are clear and don't have expectations of every song you request to be played. If you're not picky then it will go great!

He is so competent and relaxed we knew we'd be in good hands! A Bride's DJ provides an extensive planning document that Lev uses on the day. Lev played all the songs we wanted, none of the songs we didn't want, and was so skilled at reading the crowd that he threw in a few songs that our guests still talk about dancing to! I lost my voice the day before the wedding and requested a lower volume so I'd still be able to talk with friends and family. Not only did Lev execute the perfect volume, but he also came up to me during the reception to check if it was at an okay level! Our guests still rave about how nice it was to be able to dance and talk with everyone the whole night! Lev even came up to both me and the groom to ask if there were any songs he hadn't played yet that we'd like to hear. Lev also helped us set up a livestream so that our relatives and friends who couldn't attend the ceremony were still able to watch, which was above and beyond of him! Overall, Lev was a wonderful DJ and put us at ease, I would definitely recommend hiring him for your wedding day!!

This was the venue for my niece's wedding which had been postponed since October of 2024 because of…read morethe destruction caused by Hurricane Helene. I have some very mixed feelings about the venue, so bear with me. First, I have to say that the venue is beautiful. The scenic mountain views surrounding it are stunning. The building, which we never went into unless we needed a restroom, was very nice looking from the outside. The deck we ate dinner on was very nice. It is easy to see why someone would pick such a beautiful venue. For most people, this would be the perfect venue. My niece's wedding was, in fact, wonderful for the most part. I am giving it a 4, because it really is a wonderful venue. Unfortunately, this is where I have to go south with my review. In order to get to the actual ceremony area, guests are required to go down the equivalent of two stories- some on stairs and some on a grassy hill. Later, to get to the lowest area for the reception (the bar area), guests had to cross a grassy area and go up more stairs. From there, to get to the dining area of the reception, they had to climb even more stairs that had those wooden board railings that you can't get a grip on. The restrooms that guests were being told to use were down on the bottom level of the building. Once again, that required a hike including stairs and the grassy field. There was supposedly a tiny restroom on the level of the dining deck, but we were told several times not to use it because it was too small and uncomfortable. During the reception, my 72 year old sister in law needed to use the restroom. My wife tried to escort her since it involved the aforementioned hike and she has limited mobility. Unfortunately, the wooden stairs leading down to the bar area were damp from the evening mist and dangerously slick. She slipped, her feet flew up in the air, and she landed on her back and head at the bottom of them. When I got my brother in law, a doctor, he too slipped on the wet stairs and fell down on top of her. She was taken by ambulance to an ER in Asheville. He was only sore the next day. My point is this, if this is meant to be a wedding venue, it needs to have safer stairs, better railings, smooth flat surfaces leading everywhere, and acceptable restrooms on the dining level. I would even consider an elevator of some kind. At the very least, some of that sand paper stuff needs to be put on the surface of the stairs No matter how pretty the views were, I could never recommend this venue to anyone who has elderly guests, guests with mobility issues, or guests with other health issues that would make the venue inappropriate for them in its current condition. For everyone else, this is an awesome place to hold your wedding.

I've never seen flowers like the ones in my bouquet.
