My friend initially recommended this place to me. It's a bit off the beaten path, as far as Longview goes. Unless I was heading to the area, I don't know I would have been aware of it. Once I got to the area, there was ample signage to point me in the right direction. Now that I know where it is, I've been coming at least once a week. The staff is awesome and is always willing to recommend something good. The coffee is always great, and they almost always have something to pair with it (I recommend the cinnamon roll or cookies). If you aren't in the mood for coffee, they serve several options from the Iron Horse Brewery (located across the street), which are awesome. They also sell several options for coffee cups, shirts, coffee, etc. The interior is clean and they play a good selection of music that anyone can get by with. The atmosphere is your typical coffee shop. It has some noise but is still low enough to be able to accomplish some studying or work. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. Their caramel latte was delicious, just the right amount of sweetness to bitter. I usually like to pair my coffee with something sweet to add a little more sweetness to my morning coffee, but it wasn't needed. It was delicious the way it was! I ordered an apple tart, it was so good! Nice flaky, buttery crust, just the right amount of apples, I should've gotten another one to go. Place is hip, new, clean and big. A nice spot to have a cup of coffee with some friends and gossip for hours haha. Service was good. Tip: when you're done, they have a sink where you can take your dirty dishes and mugs to be washed. read more

Personally, I really hate the open concept. Ceiling is tall, tables are spaced out, coffee station is out in the open, it's cold in there. It feels vulnerable to me if that makes any sense. In addition, there's a lot of wasted space for seating it feels like. There are lots of chairs but there could be more. The quality of the coffee is really good and you can tell they use good beans. However, oh my god it will burn a hole in your pocket! The amount you get for the price is almost comical but like I said, quality coffee. You probably don't need more than what they give you if I'm being honest because it's THAT strong. Overall it's good but not my favorite coffee joint in town. read more

Silver Grizzly is hands down the best coffeeshop in Longview, and really it could go head to head with any coffeeshop in any city. I had traveled to Longview from Austin to visit family and was looking for a place to get an espresso drink that was also locally owned, and was delighted to find Silver Grizzly. Their cappuccino was absolutely excellent. The espresso itself was top notch and the milk/foam ratio was perfect. It's the first proper cappuccino I've ever had in Longview. I also tried their lemon cookie and had a few bites of my friends' chocolate chip cookie, and both were great -- flavorful, good texture on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. Add to this the super friendly staff, the beautiful, bright location in historic downtown Longview, and the fact that they have a great beer selection on tap (which I wasn't able to try because it was a bit early in the day for that!) and they've pretty much hit every mark. I've been to excellent coffeeshops all over Austin, San Francisco, and New York City, among other big cities, and Silver Grizzly is at that caliber. Last night I was meeting a work colleague here to discuss some things. We are IT guys and well, they have WIFI and coffee, so I agreed it would be a good combination. That was to be a gross understatement. I've been to plenty of coffee houses in my lifetime, but when I ordered a caramel latte, I had no idea that I would drink the best cup of coffee that I have ever had in my entire life! Usually, even the best made coffees are bitter tasting, but this one, was so smooth. As I was talking to my co-worker, I literally could not put down the cup and in about 5 minutes, it was gone. I usually nurse coffee for an hour at least, but this was so good, I just was totally indulged. The layout of the place is extremely open, and the decor, simple yet very trendy. I found the work areas, as well as the lounging areas, to be excellent in terms of furniture and utility. WIFI was rocking at good speeds, and yet, with as many people as was in there, it was kind of quiet. The staff, I cannot say enough good things about. They were super friendly, humble, and gracious. My coffee didn't come flying out in under a minute or so, like you would find at Starbucks. No, this man was showing that what he was doing was a craft, and that definitely came out in the brew itself. What is nice about this place is that all their syrups are made in-house. To me, that is just amazing, and the affordability of the place is infinitely better than Starbucks, whom I find to be over-priced for burnt tasting coffee. If you are passing through Longview, or you live here, and you like coffee, a nice place to work and watch the world go by through their panoramic window view of downtown, this is the place. I honestly cannot wait to go again. Frankly speaking, I do not think I've ever written a review quite like this one, when I say, it literally was an honor to drink their coffee. read more
